Short-changing by Pattaya Tai Gas Station

There have been complaints in the past about this gas station (aka petrol pump) not resetting the meter to 0.

Well, the attendants there also try to short change you. I have caught them three times so it cannot be an error - besides the attendant's demeanour suggests that he is deliberately returning less money.

The last time was Friday - instead of returning 840 baht change he gave me 740, and immediately gave the remaining 100 when I counted the change and pointed out the "error".

So, though many of us are tempted to just put the change in the pocket without counting it - COUNT your change!

If this scam is happening at this petrol station , why use it , there are plenty more around or maybe try and get hold off someone from head office and tell them what's going on.......!

People continue to use this station though, because it's the only one in the South Pattaya area.

You have to drive up to Sukhumvit to find other ones... and not every one has to do on Sukhumvit.

Well I don't have to use it and certainly won't.

I live outside town and have a Shell place near the house so fill up there on the way into town.

I also never need change, if in the truck I am going to put 1000 in it and the bike regularly needs about 110-130. I make a point of having the change for that.

This Gas station reminds me of one of those damned poorly run GGBs that can't help themselves, and for me more indicative of 'Pattaya' than the odd act of honesty! I suppose people could use those roadside bottles to top off the tank, heaven knows what you would be getting.

West of Sukhumvit, it seems to be the only one between Theprassit and Naklua, so it is the only one in what most of us think of as main Pattaya.

There are a lot on Threpassit,, 2 on North Rd and of course loads on Sukhumvit.

Has the one at the bottom of 2nd Rd opposite the Bowling Place (before the bend to the Dolphin roundabout) gone?

I find the PTT stations to be good and honest. They have never tried to short change me and always seem very efficient.

I always ask for a set amount of gas 100 for the bike, 1000 for the car. I watch the meter while he fills and give him the exact money. Only way to stop this thief.

The Shell station on Pattaya Tai has been shit for years! There are two on Thepprasit almost right next to each other. PTT where you have to watch them as well, and MP gasoline. MP service is a lot better, some say the gas is not as good but i have been running it for years and never known a difference

I live in South Pattaya, and use the Shell station on Pattaya Tai when I have to. I always check the meter, and my change when filling up now...they make a business of cheating.

 

Maybe the NCPO can clean them up too!

Yes I thought it had. I don't pay much attention on my bike to anything other than what is ahead.... plus I mostly turn right then left around BigC to avoid the roundabout.

I went there yesterday and watched them like a hawk as they filled my auto tank.

 

I even got them to clean my windows...no problems.

 

BTW, I don't know if it's new or not...haven't seen it before, but there is a sign on the pump now that says something like "Check the pump total and your change".

Filled up there yesterday and they are still running the "reset" scam. Or trying to, if I hadn't been paying attention I would have been paying 100 Baht extra !
