There is a time-frame on the link I posted if you could care to read it. Here is another which suggests the 16th September.

The inability to stream Internet TV on a True line previously has nothing to do with this incident, as you say, and I trust to your knowledge and experience on this. You say True block this function.

Whether True plan to have their own internet TV streaming in the future I do not know, at the moment, on my cable connection, the TV and Internet are independent, being modulated at different frequencies, within Thailand.

The point I am presenting and struggling to get across to you, is that this cable fault may also impact your service. At the moment True Internet seems to be impacted the worst, but also TOT, and a few 3BB customers have commented on problems. ISPs will be throttling back their private customers to give the limited bandwidth to better paying corporate ones until the cable is repaired..

If your system uses a VPN, which is not on the other side of the damaged cable, the problem might not be so obvious.

I have read this.... but i didn't bring up the internet incident... you did.... and i'm on about something that i've noticed over the last 6 months not this the last few months.......

Back in May when i installed a box for my friends one had true vision the full package i think 2700 per month with live tv for his smart tv the box worked fine as true lifted all the restrictions on his line then i installed one for his friend and he had only true internet then we just couldn't get it to work at all.. we called true and asked them why and they said there's nothing wrong and we couldn't do anything about it..

He also had a 3BB line which he only used in the office so we connected the box to the 3BB line and everything worked no problems..

i come up against this all the time and yes i know there's a problem with the network now in asia and I'm not saying other wise.

but yes true don't want you to use your internet for streaming unless you pay for there own live tv package.

True have there own streaming tv package which you get access to when you sign up for true tv, so this allows you to watch it on line too....

Every box i've installed i've not had any problems with 3BB or TOT and CAT.... they all seam to be working ok and the boxes are working fine on streaming tv on 3BB or TOT and CAT

It seams to me your going on about a cable that has got damaged and i'm going on about a on going problem with true move.....

Its not the same thing and your trying to say its the problem, but to me its not the problem of the cable but true..

Yes we are talking of different issues, I am talking of a recent fault which impacted many ISPs in the region, so boxes you installed prior are irrelevant. I am NOT repeat NOT trying to say that is the problem you have with True, I only asked if this RECENT note RECENT cable fault was having any impact on Android TV boxes. Also I was offering up a possible explanation if anybody was seeing a recent degradation, OR having internet problems.

This morning, things seem better for me with True internet, so I do hope this is now improved and redundant.

Good luck with your product..

I am fortunate here. I bought a new Sony TV that is internet ready. I get Netflix and Amazon Prime directly from the net. I do love the modern technology.

That is not to say I don't have my complaints, especially with Netflix. For a company trying to get rid of mail to subscriber service, their online catalog is pathetic. Between AP and Netflix there is a lot plus I can go to Google and search the networks for their shows and stream them to my TV for free (no additional cost besides my ISP bill).

Gotta love these times for technology.

MLC, I don't think much of that stuff in your TV will work here in Thailand..unless you can set up your TV software to use a VPN and bypass geolocation so that Netflix will think you're in one of their supported countries.

That's why we use Android boxes, because they have the ability to run lots of software to bypass the commercial limitations put in by the big content distributors hand-in-hand with the big electronics manufacturers.

Enjoy your new TV, but don't bring it to Thailand...oh, BTW, I can bring the Android TV box to USA or any other country with internet and it will work just as well...fits in my luggage much better than a TV.

I see. I tried to get a FOX program (Gotham) on my TV and could not last night. Maybe I need an Android box also.

The smart tv's will just not allow you to custom them like the android box will..

if you want to see one up and running your more than welcome to view my own box working.

The reason i use the minix box:- its best on the market for what it can do and also there room for updates.

cheaper boxes will not do this.

I've learned recently but not tried yet……..That for 1000 baht paid in at a 7/11, I can get a code number that I put into one of my stations that will give me 200 days VIP membership allowing perfect viewing of stations currently showing Premier League. That's getting on for a whole season.

When I've done this I'll let you know how it goes. I'm told it's all sports Martin, so it may include that game of 'football' played mostly with the hands….

  • 4 weeks later...

OK last night my box played up…….Just went off.

I fiddled with the wires and tightened connections but it wouldn't stay 'on' So phoned 'Chas' who supplied the box through a friend. He said, 'probably the transformer….If it is I'll change it if it's the box I'll give you a new one. Bring it round tomorrow and I'll have a look for you"

Well he couldn't say fairer could he?………So this morning I arrive at his condo.

He quickly identifies the problem and gives me a new transformer…….Job done. Not quite…….A little lesson in not leaving my Hola on when I come out of BBC or ITV iplayer. And he checks that all is smooth.

He loads a new 'app' that doublse the processor speed…..so now Job done then….?

Not quite he then loads two other apps that import HD quality for me to try.

It's all the English TV stations in HD……No buffering and another 'app' that just has all the latest films in HD.

I feel I'm already sorted for movies but I'm impressed by the quality of the sports programmes. This is an 'extra' that must be paid for…... 350 baht per 30 days…another 100 for the movies too. Top up your account with a 'True-Money' voucher from a 7/11. Chas is an accredited agent and sets me up there and then.

Chas could not have been more helpful. Doubling my processor speed makes everything just a little crisper…….

What with an M+S in Central now and crystal clear British and worldwide English speaking TV………Plus the girls, the weather and the food……..Thailand just got even better.

If anyone wants Chas' number pm me.
