I've e-mailed a reservation request twice to this hotel but had no reply yet . Has anyone had any similiar problem ? I've read the reviews of the hotel , has anyone else any comments on it ? It sounds like it's well located , cheap & I like the in-room safes . Guess I was spoilt by the RG  ;D .

Hi,

I stayed in the Apex in June. 500 baht/ night in a so-called marble room, which was located in the back side of the hotel. Nice and clean room, had very good large TV (with cable and satellite), large fridge. In room safe is good, but too small for laptop (if you're travelling with such a thing). Deposit for key of inroom-safe is 1500 baht, which will be refunded at check-out. There was no joiner fee. Minibar bill is a little scam. They tend to add a certain amount to your bill. Not a big deal to me, although the thought of being ripped off, even if it's for a few bath, may be too much for some. Think of it this way; you spend thousands of baht on girls and beer, so the 200 baht extra for the minibar (hopefully) won't make you do a "Enron/ Worldcom".

My communication with Apex was good. Not fast, but I received response within a couple of days (Promenade Hotel in BKK responded to my request after 2 months!).

If you read the reviews, you'll notice that the Apex is a basic hotel (not even close to the RG!). But I liked it! It is perfectly located on 2nd Road. Just a short walk to beach, Royal Garden Plaza. If you decide to take a baht bus, there are millions of them passing the hotel, so no problem. I used to walk to Walking Street every night. Great 15 minute walk along the beachside (my idea of fun). The hotel staff is friendly. After a couple of days they started to remember my roomnumber, so when I returned to the hotel I didn't have to say a thing. They knew which room I was in.

I will stay at Apex in January and June 2003 again. Unbeatable price, good location, good hotel.

Just my opinion. Hope it is of any help to you!

Dennis

I stayed at the Apex Hotel for 4 nights in June. The 500 Baht per night rate was good value for money, relatively nice rooms, well stocked minibar and good selection of channels on television, also good value buffet breakfast.

It is also close to many beer bars without being too close.

My only problems were the 1500 Baht for deposit of safe key, and I found the air-con was old and quite noisey. I had trouble sleeping with the air-con off as it was too hot, and same trouble sleeping with the air-con on due to noise.

Hi all,

I tried to make reservation at Apex Hotel for my trip in january 2003, but they claim to be fully booked. And so is Flipper Lodge.

So if anyone plans on staying in Pattaya in january, you better act fast to secure your favourite hotel.

The Areca Lodge has rooms available in January and I've just booked the Haven Hotel and they may have more rooms left .

Hey Turbo, bring some ear muffs if you're staying at the haven. Lots of construction on soi 13 still and the Haven is more like an outdoor courtyard style apartment building. I stayed there in Feb 2002 when it was just starting with the pile drivers literally outside my room at 7:00 am  >:o. Moved to soi 8 for peace and quiet if that says anything. Also be prepared to pay cash as they do not take credit cards but the exchange at the corner of beach rd does. Was just there mid-July and the construction was still going on but not too bad for enclosed hotels. Have a blast. Will be in Pattaya from the 29th Dec if not sooner. Maybe we'll catch up for a cold one or four! Cheers. B-Man!

B-man ,

If it's too noisy after the first night ( the construction work , not my bedroom antics  :o ) I'll not be long finding another hotel . I just wanted to have somewhere booked for my 1st few nights . The last thing I want to do when I arrive is start looking for an hotel .

Might meet up with you for a beer or 3 in the FLB in January - I arrive on the 5th . Probably not make it for the meeting that night as my TG will want me all to herself - tough choice huh ?
