I'm landing in LOS on 24th october along with a fellow aussie sanuker. As our flight arrives around 10pm i figured it would be better if we stayed the night in bangkok and headed down to Pattaya on the 25th.I've been looking at various accomodation in bangok and Windsor Suites seems like good value for money at about $40 US per room. This is only my second trip to Thailand and the first time i booked the Montien in Patpong.Big mistake.NO guests were allowed under 1000bahts.  :o I dont want to make the same mistake so can anybody help me here?Has anyone stayed at the Windsor Suites before and also how far is it from Nana Plaza and Soi Cowboy.

Cant wait to get to Pattaya and would love to catch up with any FLBers for a few beers at Petes from 25th October to  31 October. My only regret is its only 1 week but my work wouldnt allow any more time :( So i guess i'll just have to cram all the sanuking into those 7 days ;)Will need a holiday after my holiday.

;D ;D why not stay at nana hotel if you are going to nana plaza anyway. it 30 minute taxi ride and nana plaza it right across the soi less than 4 meters.  or golden bear beer bar right next to hotel. guest friendly no charge. rooms should still be around 700 baht  in october. taxi serivce to pattaya at hotel also.  or the free bus to pattaya  hotel then baht bus to  your own hotel. 8) hope this helps

I had booked Windsor Suites for our trip in November but have just recently cancelled after reading some reports on another board that is was not visitor friendly. The Grand President would be a good choice in that price range. Ask for the TSM discount.

aussie, Omni Towers is just down the soi from nana and is an all suites hotel like the windsor except guest friendly.  If you book through an online agent like asia travel it is quite resonable.

Winsdor Suites is a very nice hotel. Stayed there one night in July... We got suites for about 2600 bath, which usually costs around 8000..., nice room, two TVs. It should be possible to get these at around 1000 in low season, when ordered through some internet booking company. But of course they had not registered our bookings at the hotel....

We had been told that they were not guest friendly, but that the trick was to enter by the garage and take the elevator up from there.... A bit of a bummer when comming back with the girl, going down into the garage, and finding there was no elevator down there  :o

So, up the stairs to the lobby we had to go, and passed it with no problems at all  :(

Damn those elevators are fast.... Took us to 29th floor faster than going one floor with the elevator at good old AA....

The Winsdor is about 2 minutes in a taxi from Nana, no problem. Soi Cowboy should be on the other side of the Sukowit from it I belive....

I've stayed at Windsor two times in the last 5 months.  Thay are not guest-friendly but will tolerate it.  The first trip was with two friends and we also got adjoining connected suites.  The rooms are very nice.

My second stay was with my thai fiancee and even though I booked the room under both our names we were hasseled coming in from an evening out by a real prick of a floor manager.  Even tho i tried to explain to him the situation he forced us to exit an elevator and escorted us to the front desk.  After the desk personnel looked up our reservation they apologized profusely - however, the situation was embarassing.  I came very close to losing it and bitch-slapping the floor manager.

I won't return there.

P.S. I have heard that the Ambassador in nice and guest-friendly - any others have info on this hotel?

Go to page 3 and review the "Staying in Bangkok" threads. There is a discussion regarding the Ambassador Hotel.

If you have a (cheaper) room in the old section, the elevators are just inside the Sukhumvit enterence and the staff are stationed or working in areas out-of-sight. It's a big hotel. That may be part of the reason it is considered guest friendly.  If you have a room in the tower, the new section, and use the same enterence (Sukhumvit) you will have a hundred yard walk to the tower elevators.
