Ive never realy bothered with business class or first. I just get on board, eat the dinner then drop half a Zovirax sleeping pill and get woken up at Breakfast !. works for me.

I am old and drink, I gotta go pee!

BA have yet another sale and business class from LHR to BKK is available again for just over £1700. Saw an advert from Trayvale that was advertising business class with Thai on the new A380 for £1725 too. Good news from those who fly direct from London

I fly direct from London and though I can afford club class just wont pay that much just for the priviledge of a metal fork and spoon, a mini tablecloth and a bit more legroom.

Like I said just drop a sleeping pill after dinner then wake up in Bangers!

Surely you cannot compare BA Economy and Club class and only come up with cutlery? How about food that actually needs cutlery?

Sorry I just cannot trust BA even in Club Class. If they treat Economy with such utter contempt I doubt they treat club pax much differently.

I have travelled BA 4 times. 3 times involuntarily, On all occasions I was treated like shit. The aircraft were old and worn, seat condition and seat spacing was appalling, the food equally so, the aircraft were just not clean with food smeared on the seat back screen in one case and in another a filthy toilet, and though I am not homophobic just do not like being attended to by mincing little queens who threw a girly strop and minced off when I refused a vegetarian meal.

I also do not appreciate BA ignoring most if not all CAA rules and I strongly object to being told 4 different lies when trying to claim compensation for a 22 hour delay in Swampy, yet as soon as I issued Court Proceedings against them they paid up within hours. Ive actually been offered a freebee flight to the US on BA in early September and Ive turned it down. I will never fly with them again, free or not.

If you are flying BA on European short haul flights, then theY just as good as anyone else.

2 years ago i fly BA business class to Kiev, and apart from the attitude of (BA)?? ground staff in Kiev, and the lack of any kind of lounge access, i couldn't fault the service.

Flew last year on BA to Seoul, and flew back again with them from Tokyo, but admittily i was upgraded to WT+ for both flights, so i cant really commit on what they offer for long haul in economy. All i know is i did take a walk back through the economy cabin during both flights, and their 777 product looked shocking, but their 787 looked to be better with newer seats and bigger AVOD.

Cant comment on refunds through BA, but last night i received into my bank account, a full refund of my flight with Brussels Airlines because of the terrorist attacks last month. I was due to fly through Brussels roughly an hour after the attack, so do consider myself quite lucky!!!!

But there offered me the refund, or gave me the option to rebook, and they were good to their word, and paid up after 5 weeks.(There did say up to 6). No questions, no hassles, the full fare and all taxes, all given back to me.

Yeah, likely equally as bad.. my hop from Helsinki to Manchester on Finn Air was horrible and supposedly Biz Class!

Pity about BA Club Class, in the 90s my preferred choice for many years. I stopped using them actually due to the horrible Pre Term 5 transfers at LHR and bad service, attitude and numerous let downs. I do not see them surviving in their present format with the competition from the ME Carriers.

Yes, and sometimes that " hop" is for a fair old distance; Turkish prime example. They are meant to leave the centre seat empty, but that is not always the case, if they can fill the plane.

I had read reviews on travel orientated forums that suggested that whilst Finnair were very good from Helsinki to Asia their business class connections to the UK were anything but. It seems that your experience bears this out. I will still use BA club to Europe and New York but would only use elsewhere if on sale or using Avios or upgrade vouchers. I did read reports that BA were going to be rolling out new business class cabins this year, undoubtedly in response to competition from the middle Eastern airlines. Mind you however many A380's Emirates buy given that Dubai airport was a zoo and the business class lounge was overcrowded with slum condition toilets they won't be getting my business again anytime soon

Surprised wrt your comments on the Biz Class lounges at Dubai...I would expect better.

(I didn't have time to use them when I travelled Biz via Dubai as I ad a tight connection and a fair distance to travel... as you say crowded)

First was good the last trip I did, but I won't be able to afford that again... (couldn't really that time).

I am absolutely amazed re your comments about Emirates Biz lounge in the A380 complex. It is enormous, at least 20 times the size of anything else anywhere in the world, new and meticulously cleaned; Overcrowding would be nigh on impossible. Although I use the 1st lounge (same size) more often, I regularly meet up with people in the Biz lounge... and call bullshit on your comments. As for "zoo"....busy and huge yes, but with pretty good facilities, and I don't know of another airport that provides free, almost 180 degree flatbed recliners in the open public areas (outside of the lounges).

Totally agree with your comments,in my experience there is always an attendant in the toilets and they are checked after every use.Neilr was not talking from experience but repeating some unsubstantiated garbage.

I call it as i see it.

Fisherman 194. You may or may not be a keyboard warrior ( i know nothing about you in the same way that you know nothing about me ) but i certainly am not. I have averaged at least one flight a year to Thailand for the past 24 years travelling exclusively in business class for the past 17 or 18.

The Emirates lounges in London and Bangkok were excellent ( and for me the best part of the Emirates "experience" ) but the lounge in Dubai was not. It may have been huge but it was overcrowded with very long queues for a mediocre selection of food and drink. There was a toilet attendant but he was completely overwhelmed as there were queues for both the toilets and the showers. I took a shower on the way out but the cubicle hadn't been properly cleaned after the previous customer.

Boarding and security were chaotic and unfriendly and based on my own personal experience i stand by my description of Dubai airport as a zoo. I accept that on both legs i arrived into Dubai at a busy time ( circling for an hour before landing on the outward leg and for 40 minutes or so on the return ) but this isn't an excuse in my book

Depends on what time you are in DXB to if it is a zoo or not.

Flew back to AMS through DXB early morning yesterday (04.30-09.00) and although all the shopping areas were busy, it was surprisingly quiet on the walking areas from gate to gate.

News from a travel orientated list that i subscribe to suggests that from 5th October this year FInnair will be using an A350 between LHR and Helsinki. You will need to choose your flight carefully as its not every flight and not every day. Initially the 10.20 out of Heathrow on Monday, Wednesday, Thursday, Friday and Sunday will use the A350. Ex Helsinki it's the 08.00 flight

I got that too from Head for Points but as Raffles points out, the timing is crap and I haven't checked the ex BKK connections.

As to trayvale, their website just doesn't work when you want to change a date - I am looking a TG which has availability on the outward but not at the £1700 price on the return - should be an easy date change and check but no, like TG's website, you have to go back to the beginning and try another day !

Shopping Around for my return trip I came across a surprise contender for Manchester to Bangkok, Business Class return.

(Outward this month, return Sept-Oct.)

Cathay Pacific coming in £200-300 less than Emirates (they are about £2090). Mixed in with their usual horrific price is the bargain with 'few' seats left so be flexible on your dates by a few days. This is a good carrier (77XWB ouward), Hong Kong is a good transit place and I liked both departure and arrival times. Layover in HKG outward short, but beware, they try to stick you with a long wait on the return leg, but you can scroll down and select a better one, with later BKK departure. Don't go thinking the travel time is any longer as it really isn't.

I didn't try Economy but it may be worth a look. Beats a Helsinki transfer!

I will probably be on Emirates...love the A380 and Limo service.
