I wont book with Opodo again

Over the years Ive tended to use Opodo for my air reservations.

Not any more.

 

Just done a booking for the wife yesterday on Opodo and I was given 'Options for paying. The quote price on the site is only valid if you pay with 'Entropay' paying with Visa Debit as I usually do incurs an extra £5 !!!

When I bitched about it to Opodo they just came back and stated that with Entropay you get a discount.

What they failed to say was that there is a 4.9% surcharge just to put money ON the card so it actully works out more expensive for the traveller.

They make more commision but it isnt passed on.

Booked with Major Travel and got the Thai fare for £483 for the wife.

Opodo can now get stuffed.

Ive booked with Opodo a few times now, and paid with my Visa Debit card, and have always paid the quoted price of the fare!! No extra charges!!

Not any more. You search on Skyscanner for the price that Opodo is offering and you can only buy it at that price if you pay with EntroPay, Select Visa Debit to pay with and the price will jump at least £5. To me its the damned principle of the thing so I got my wifes ticket from Major Travel whoo took my Visa debit with no problems and slightly cheaper than the Opodo Fare.

Result ! Got an email from Opodo today apologising for their website. It shouldnt charge any extra for using a Debit card and having checked the site just now they have indeed changed the website.

Opodo strikes again. Friend of mine has just booked to Bangkok with them. Their system refused his card, dropped him back to their entrance page.

He booked online again.........yep. they charged him twice. Hes now got to wait for the refund.

The number of times that happens with many different agents, including what you think are direct airline sites, is far too frequent for it not to be deliberate!

Got an email from my friend this morning.

They refunded him twice !! yet his resrvation on the Thai site is still live and confirmed, as it is on Amadeus.

He says he'll leave it for a week to see what happens then if nothing happens he'll give them a ring and sort it out. Problem is Opodo's call centers are mainly in India.

They refunded him twice !! yet his resrvation on the Thai site is still live and confirmed, as it is on Amadeus.

He says he'll leave it for a week to see what happens then if nothing happens he'll give them a ring and sort it out. Problem is Opodo's call centers are mainly in India.

Nahh.

He actully received an email yesterday, so he says, explaining the double charging cock up and saying he will be refunded within 7 days. Thats 2 days after he has been refunded!.

Then again he says they still dont seem to have tumbled about refunding him twice and his reservation with Thai is still live.

Ive told him he realy should speak to them as sooner or later they will tumble whats happened and simply cancel his flight and demand their money back

Good advice! He will not win in the long run, and it is very simple for them to rot up his holiday plans.

If they cancel his flight why would they also demand their money back?

Well the continuing story. He received an email this morning telling him the payment for his flight was still outstanding, so he rang them, they apologised for the cockup and took payment correctly this time so he says.

Jacko they refunded him TWICE, so they had no payment for his ticket, if he hadnt paid them they would have cancelled the flight and still demanded their overpayment back

Excuse me, but I thought you said they also charged him twice.

They charged him twice for one ticket. Then they refunded him twice therefore putting him back to his original position, but they didnt cancel the reservation and PNR as it was still live on Amadeus and Thai.

So according to him they sent him an email asking for payment for his original reservation or they would cancel the reservation and he would have to make a new one..

Simples.

Yeah okay....

I can understand that quandary and have had it booking directly with the airline too.... you hit the pay button, and the computer seems to churn away for ever, then perhaps hang up leaving you confused. Do I try and pay again because if I don't I will lose that bargain, and if I do I could have paid twice.
