Low cost generic Cialis and Viagra in the U.S.

Recommended Posts

*****Turns out that this is more long-winded than I'd planned. I just like to present all the info I can in order to be helpful*****

I haven't seen much, if any, mention of the "coupon" websites for prescription medications so I thought I'd share my experience and, maybe, save others, as I did, some money. Unfortunately, the website I'm going to mention, "GoodRx", can only be utilized in the United States. There may be similar websites available to those outside the U.S. but I didn't look into them. YMMV. And, while some will suggest using a mail order site from Canada, etc..., to order meds from, I, myself, was always hesitant because of the legality of it. If it's confiscated, I lose my money. The comfort of knowing that I am getting genuine meds, from my local pharmacy, is a plus.

First, a little, boring, backstory. I went to my Dr. for another issue, explained to him that my insurance coverage only allowed for 6 ED pills maximum, per month, with a co-pay of $15 for each refill. Mentioned to him that I'd never used GoodRx.com(always skeptical) but he was very familiar with it and, highly, recommended it. I asked him if he could write a prescription for 90(yes, ninety) tablets at 20mg each with 3 refills over the course of 1 year. "Sure, no problem". Also asked him to hand write the prescription, as opposed to him electronically sending it to a pharmacy, as I wanted to shop around for the best price. Again, "Sure, no problem".

Walked up to the pharmacy at my local Stop & Shop, and asked the pharmacy tech if she could verify that the price on the coupon, that I'd printed out from the GoodRx website, would be that price I would pay for the prescription. She said she'd have to "put it through" to check but that she could also "back it out" and the written prescription could be taken, and used, elsewhere with no problem if that was what I decided to do.

As it turns out, I received 90(ninety) 20mg tablets of Tadalafil(generic Cialis) for the coupon price of $42.65 total, out-of-pocket. And, there are 3 refills left on the prescription. The price may fluctuate a little but the way I see it I'm going to, or could, over the course of a year, get 360 tablets for $170. Seeing as how I cut them in half(to 10mg) and they last about 36 hours per 10mg dose, I, most likely, won't get/need all of the refills. Cutting 360 tablets in half would give me 720 does at 36 hours per dose. I'd be walking around with a hard-on, every time the wind blew, for 6 years straight.

The math: With my insurance: 6 tablets per month at $15(co-pay) for 12 months = $180 for 72 tablets
       Without my insurance the same 72 tablets would cost me $34.12 ($42.65/90 = 0.47 each X 72 = $34.12)

I only use generic Cialis as Viagra isn't as good(for me) but the pricing is similar on GoodRx.
Disclaimer: I have no affiliation, whatsoever, with GoodRx. No sponsorship, no gifts, etc... Nothing.
I will post this on a couple of different forums just to get the word out for those that aren't familiar. If the Mods think I'm spamming, well, do what you do but, I assure you, I'm not. There are other sites that offer coupons as well.
The screenshots I've included are for, both, Cialis(generic) and Viagra(generic) from Boston and Los Angeles. You can put in your zip code to get local prices for you. It's staggering what some places charge for the same product.

As a follow-up to my original topic post, I just picked up my first "refill" after the initial prescription was filled three months ago. The pharmacy had made note of my original coupon from GoodRx in my account and applied it to this refill without my having to do anything at all.  Another 90 pills of 20mg Tadalafil(generic Cialis) for $41.65. So, yeah, it does work out pretty well. I've still got two refills remaining on the original prescription.

I just refilled 90 days of Tadalafil (Cialas), 5 mg at Costco - $16.99

Just before Cialis went generic I picked some up at CVS and it worked out to be over $50 per, yes, PER 20mg tablet. Lilly Pharmaceutical was trying to gouge, um, make as much profit as possible before generic Cialis hit the shelves. Amazing. Thank God all I had was a co-pay with insurance covering the balance.

I should, probably, just get the Dr. to write the Rx for 5mg tablets but I'm so used to cutting them into thirds, or quarters, I don't even think about it any longer. Right now, I'm taking small doses more for an enlarged prostate than for ED purposes. BTW, for those that don't know, Cialis(generic too), in as little as a 2.5mg dose, taken daily, works excellent for an enlarged prostate. As least for me it does. Better than Flomax(Tadalifil-generic).

ALWAYS confirm with your Dr. before listening to some jackass(me) on a monger forum.

Another follow-up to my topic is that you might want to consider talking with your doctor about him prescribing a higher dosage tablet because you want to cut the tablets in 1/2's or 1/3's to allow you to take the lowest dosage that "works" for you while saving money because you cut the tablets in 1/2 or 1/3. Where I'm from the price for the generic Cialis 10mg tablet and the 20mg are the exact same price.

If he wants to start you on a daily dose of 2.5mg you might want to ask him for the 10mg tablet to cut into 1/3's(= 3.3mg dose) as the 20mg tablet would impossible to cut into the 6(1/6ths) pieces that would equal six 3.3mg doses. If you're only using them "as needed" as opposed to daily you can, IMO, be more flexible because the 20mg tablet can, fairly easily, be cut into 6.6mg, 10mg, or left uncut at a 20mg, dosage. Always try the lowest dosage first. As always, discuss everything with your doctor and don't just take the advice of someone on the internet.

Has it become hard to find Tadalafil 20 mg (Apcalis SX) without a prescription in Pattaya?
Maybe it would be an option to get a prescription from one of the smaller medical clinics?
