Cambodian Rat Recipies

Recommended Posts

Fear of catching bird flu has prompted some Cambodians to give up eating chicken. The newspaper, Light of Cambodia, reports fresh rat is fetching a premium at local markets.

Villagers catch the rodents in nearby rice fields and sell them for up 35 cents each. One vendor reports selling 130 pounds of rat meat a day.

Apparently booze helps. The paper reports the rat meat is often eaten as a snack while drinking.

OMG :(, hHave you seen what they put into those commercial-type snack bars [smiley=yikes.gif], all those E numbers, stabilising chemicals and purified sugars ... at least our plump little rice rat has been raised on nice natural goodness and plenty of healthy exercise .... hmmmm, I'm getting peckish, ....  anyone for a rat kabab?  ;D

BTW, was very tempted by fried grasshopper last trip out ... maybe I should get out more ;)

35cents is big money for a rat, the daily wage is $1.00 a 12 hour day of hard labor.  Maybe the price quoted is wrong? T_T ???
