Jack,

Jomtien is a nice place to stay if your bringing the wife or girlfriend with you on holiday or if your planning to stay with only 1 or 2 TG's during your stay. Some guys will stay their even if they are going to butterfly but you will be spending at least 20 baht each way between Pattaya and Jomtien.

Go for a day trip. Find local motorbike taxi driver who speaks good English and hire him for the afternoon to take you round and show you all the bars, massage parlours, karoike places and any other place that might be of interest.

I have never been to a single bar at Jomtiem, just the beach, but I know there are a few sanuk places around. And having a guided tour in the safety of daylight might be an interesting way to spend a bit of time in the afternoon. Exploring can be a lot of fun, especially if you get the right guide.

Depends how long you're going to be renting for and how many of those nights you're going to be going to Pattaya for Sanuk.

At night when the regular Baht Buses have stopped running, you'll have to do a 'private hire' with the driver to get back to Jomtien. Expect to pay @ 100 Baht plus the extra time and aggravation arranging/doing the journey. Either that or two moto taxis @ 100 Baht each. After a few beers and with a hot date eager for some action, I could do without all that extra hassle. Your date will expect her fare home again as well. Many won't do the journey back on their own because they're afraid of getting jumped by the Bus driver so it could be longtime or nothing.

Up 2 u :)

I used to stay in the silversands hotel on beach rd . There are bar beers on the soi next to it . Soi seven I think . There's a bit of action with some bars near KFC plus a go go that has my vote for having the ugliest dancers in Thailand . You can find some right diamonds there but you have to look hard.

On my last trip I stayed soi 13 pty and I'm now in 2 minds on where to stay on my next trip.

I live in Jomtien. It is pretty laid back as compared to Pattaya. One very marginal Go Go bar on the little straight stretch as you are coming from Pattaya before you turn left to go along the beach. If that's why you are coming to Jomtien, save your time.

I have two primary watering holes in Jomtien and rarely go into Pattaya anymore. One is called the Moonshine. It's on Soi 4 a short distance up on the right side. There is a 7-11 on the corner. The other is called Drunks and Dare A Licks. It is farther down on Soi 9 up a short distance from beach road on the left. It does get a little wild in D & D at times. LOL! These are both owned and operated by Americans. Ted manages the Moonshine and Ken the D & D. Past Soi 7 a little ways there is a Soi called Soi Whitehouse. It has 15 or 20 open air bars and sometimes you can pick up some diamonds in the rough if you look around. The old Winchester now called Blind Beggar is a hit and miss also. Mostly I miss there. There are a lot of hotels and guest houses. The Moonshine has decent rooms for 550 a night. Up Soi 7 is the Jomtien Lek hotel for 350 a night. I stayed there ONE night. I came back with a couple ladies and they charged me another 200 baht for having two guests. I moved out the next day to the little German guest house right next door. It is called the TP Guest house. Very nice rooms with a free breakfast for 450 baht. Nice people and great German food. No problems with guests. Peter (German) speaks good English as does his Thai wife Noi.

There are many other places but these are the ones I have experience with. Now you know what I know. LOL! :banghead
