Hello Melyp,

You may want to try the Dentist on Soi-5 / 2nd Rd opposite of PIC Kitchen. Had my teeth cleaned on my last visit and it only cost me 700b if I remember correctly. I also asked about laser treatment and they do do it. Cheap cost by U.S. standard.

But before chosing a dentist - Check out the cost at Pattaya International Hospital on Soi-4 / 2nd Rd. It will cost a bit more but it is still worth checking out and talking to the Dentist.

I will probably have my teeth done on my next visit.

I had extensive dental work done at Bangkok Pattaya hospital and am very pleased with the result. I had four root canals and a crown that required a post being placed in the remainder of the tooth. The work was painless and I had the undivided attention of the dentists and assistant during the treatment. I specialist worked on the root canals and an American educated (Cornell) did the crown work. Much below the US price but maybe a bit more than the one man operations.

As of the 1st of this year my regular dentist is Dr Darka (Thai lady with small hands) at Pattaya International Hospital. They are higher than most of the dentists in Pattaya by a few hundred baht, but along with medical care, this is one area I don't look for the best deal. They have a website so you can ask for a price quote.

I used the link and it works just fine - but then I wanted to send an e-mail to the dental dept and their e-mail address does not work. Comes back as a failure.

Oh well,

Laser teeth Whitening at BPH, as a ball park figure what is the cost? I know you cannot be specific but a rough idea of the cost would help.

TIA

http://www.dentalspaasia.com/dental_spa_as...land_hello.html Hi Gus , when I was originally thinking of having teeth done in BK, I checked out the above site, all the prices and plans are there, If I remember correctly its about £200 for laser whitening, Im now trying to get sorted with a dental surgery in Pattaya, Im told they`re cheaper and just as good as BK

very interesting thread. I need a bridge - 2 missing teeth and even with my Insurance coverage ($2,000 max) it would cost me an additional $2,000 USD here at home. Any idea what something like that would cost in Pattaya?

I checked out the website for the Bankok Pattaya Hospital and am considering making an appointment for the 1st day of my 2 week stay in November. Wouldn't break my heart to "have to" come back for follow up - give me an excuse to just do it and spend the money for another trip to Pattaya!

Anyone with more detailed cost info, please either post it or PM me.

Thanks

Fr. Lust

Just had a quick look at the Pattaya International Hospital web-site but no obvious indication of the cost of root canal treatment. Anyone know what this is likely to cost and how the treatment takes?

Also noticed that they have a "pre-marriage check-up" whatever that may be? and a section for would be ladyboys :nod :P

Alan,

I'm currently in the process of having a root canal. I don't know too much about dental procedures, but I was told I needed a triple root canal. This is on one tooth so I guess they have to work on 3 roots of the same tooth. I was quoted a price of 7,000 baht. On my last trip this past May-June, my first visit for the work to be done was a little over an hour and they charged me 1/2 of the cost, went back about 2 week latter for another hour and paid 1/4, and on my unpcoming trip this month I will go back to finish the root canal and pay the balance. Work is being done at PIH and is not being done by my regular dentist, but by a specialist.

SB,

My 2+ hours in the chair for the work that I've had so far on my root canal was totally painless. Both times she gave me a shot in the gums and never felt anything thereafter. Talking to Ben about the same dentist he told me he felt a slight twinge when he had some dental work done.

Fr.Lust...

BPH will give you an estimate if you can detail them with the exact work to be done. Now my Dental Insurance {Met Life} is worldwide and they did cover $285 of the $670 cost of 2 crowns. They did require X-Rays and a Hospital Certificate, along with the completed Insurance Forms and of course the bill...Check with them before going to make sure of all the details..

They also figured the exchange rate from the bill and I backed it up by charging it on my CC.

You might be able to get a very good deal on this and have an excuse to go to Pattaya...

Gus....

Laser Whitening was running about $300/12,000 Baht in Jan 2004

Saigon Butterfly....I don't know what was in the needle but whatever it was...I felt no pain during the entire process...I told the dentist that I was hard to deaden sometimes. She said lets try whatever was in the needle and if I felt any pain to indicate that to her and she would give me more....I didn't need anything else.

I was given a handful of large pink pill to take if I felt anything at home...no pain so I didn't use....my girlfriend has use two over the last few months when she has a menstrual cramps.

Sorry, I can't tell you what I was on...I just know it worked  :nod :nod

Craig, what kind of drugs were you on to have 4 painless root canals done? Sure would like to have some dental work done but, PAIN and I don't get along. SB

Same here, SB. However, from what others have said, it sounds as though it'll be worth me putting off the dental work I need done till next year - though may need one tooth looked at in November.

Hannibal & Greg B

Thanks for the pricing info. Based upon the information in this thread I will (A) call Delta Dental and see what if anything the insurance will cover in Thailand and (B) schedule an appointment for cleaning at my local dentist and ask him to send the x-rays and information to the BPH dental center and © will contact BPH and inquire as to cost and exact information for the local doctor to send.

Damn I love boards like this. The sharing of useful information is an fantastic resource!

Bumrungrad Hospital in Bkk offers online quotes for services. This place is quite convenient for anyone staying in NEP area of Bkk. Some of the regulars have probably noticed the cabs take a short cut through the entrance area of Bumrungrad on the way to Nirvana (NEP) when coming from Don Muang. :banghead

I have read articles about Bumrungrad in the local paper here in Minneapolis giving them praise for the high quality of care and price. I work in the medical industry and quality is always the first thing I would look for in care. Price should be of secondary concern.

Bacon

I'd be interested to know what your Insurance will cover Fr. Lust, as MetLife was very good at covering a certain % of my crowns. Of course they made out in the deal, by paying a lesser amount.

I hope your Dentist is cooperative and will give you all the details you need to get things done. The normal Baht Bus ride is 100 Baht {each way}. Go in the front door , look to your right for a set of stairs and the Dental Unit is on the 2nd Floor, through the glass doors.

Hoping for the best...
