Air Asia moving to Don Muang or not ?
aussiechic replied to Fireman Sam's topic in Airline Discussion
AirAsia to Transfer Bangkok Flight Operations to Don Mueang Airport from October 1st, 2012 1.Why is AirAsia transferring its operations to Don Mueang Airport? Suvarnabhumi Airport is currently the busiest airport in ASEAN which results in air traffic congestion especially during peak hours. We plan to increase our fleet to 48 Airbus A320s from the current 24, and the move to Don Mueang Airport will be able to comfortably accommodate this expansion as well as provide convenience to our guests given the closer proximity to Bangkok City Center. 2. When will AirAsia start operations in Don Mueang? From 1 October 2012 onwards. 3. When will I receive my revised itinerary to reflect DMK airport code (Don Mueang) instead of BKK airport code? For affected guests traveling from October 1 onwards, we will send you your revised itinerary at least one month prior to your departure date. 4. What assistance will AirAsia be providing for affected guests? The following options are available: (1) Schedule a new flight on the same route: Passengers may reschedule their flight on the same route to a flight taking place either 7 days before or after their original flight date at no additional cost. (2) Credit Shell: The cost of the flight is converted into credit, which may be used within 90 days of issue. Guests who purchased their flights before 26 June 2012, with travel dates from 1 October 2012 onwards will be contacted by our team via email, sms or by phone. Please ensure all your details are up to date in your AirAsia member profile. If you have any urgent matters you may contact our call centres (Thai Call Center: +66 2 515 9999 Operating Hours: 8am-9pm GMT +7). For further inquiries you can: - tweet us at Twitter: twitter.com/askairasia - leave a comment here: www.facebook.com/airasiathailand OR www.facebook.com/airasia - chat to us on Live Chat: http://chat3d.livechatinc.com/licence/1240461/open_chat.cgi?groups=0 - submit an Online Feedback Form: http://www.airasia.com/my/en/faqdetailsform.page - contact our other call centers or walk in to our Travel Service Centers, details: http://www.airasia.com/my/en/contactus.page Note: Guests may be required to show additional proof on how they have been affected by the airport change. 5. Will the transfer affect the schedule of guests who have already booked their flights? Your flight schedule and times will not be affected. If you are traveling on or after 1 October 2012 the only change will be the airport codes. Your itinerary will be revised and resent to you to reflect new airport code for Don Mueang (DMK) instead of BKK for Bangkok. Guests who have already made their bookings can continue to follow the timing of their original schedules. 6. What terminal will AirAsia be operating in? Where will I check-in? All of AirAsia check-in services and administrative offices will be stationed at Don Mueang Airport Terminal 1. 7. How far is Suvarnabhumi from Don Mueang airport? The distance between the two airports are approximately 45km but travel time varies from 45 minutes to 2 hours depending on traffic conditions. 8. Will AirAsia be assisting guests in transferring between Suvarnabhumi and Don Mueang airports? Shuttle busses for guests to transfer between the two airports have been arranged by Airports of Thailand Plc. (AoT). Refer to http://www.bangkokairportonline.com/node/56 for more information on Bus Number 554 from Suvarnabhumi Airport to Don Mueang Airport. This service is provided from the Suvarnabhumi Bus Terminal at the Transport Center. 9. How far is Don Mueang airport from Bangkok City Center? It is about 30 km (19 miles) north of downtown Bangkok. The easiest way to get downtown is by taxi, but be mindful that the journey can take anything from 45 minutes (non-peak hour traffic during the week and weekends) and 1-2 hours (peak hour). A cheaper option is to take a train from Don Mueang Train Station. Tickets to Hualamphong Train Station in central Bangkok cost 5 baht. There are also a number of public transport buses going by the airport, just follow the signs out toward the train station. Buses towards central Bangkok are at the airport's side of the road, so don't cross the highway. For further detail you can refer to the following link: http://wikitravel.org/en/Bangkok#Don_Muang_Airport 10. Will all of Thai AirAsia’s flights operate from Don Mueang Airport? All (FD, AK, QZ) flights will operate from Don Mueang Airport. http://www.airasia.com/ask/rank.do?id=548&rank=5&action=rank#TemplateRanker So will it 850 baht to Pattaya like it use to be. -

Thats even worse -
I notice a lot of comments on here that flights are going up in other country's. In Australia at least on budget airlines i have been getting good deals. In Sept first time flying with Air Asia from Australia booked back in Dec last year. Gold coast - Kuala Lumpur- Bangkok return $600 flight and domestic Townsville to Brisbane $280 return. For 1 person. Booked last month because some one pissed me off, flying next Feb for 7 days in Thailand. Jetstars 2 for 1 sale. Melbourne to Bangkok return $880 for 2 and Domestic Townsville to Melbourne return $440 For 2 people. Was planing a trip with some family members next April wasn't planing to book till Xmas then Air Asia had there birthday sale. Got all 4 people booked. Gold Coast - Kuala Lumpur - Chiang Mai Chiang Mai - Bangkok (Pattaya) - Kuala Lumpur- Gold Coast $465 each Then Virgin put flights for 2013 on Special so got the domestic Townsville to Brisbane return $197 each The only problem for us is that we have to fly South to go North and domestic flights don't mach up with international flights so we have alot traveling/waiting time. Not worried about booking so far in advanced. Have insurance on all of them and can change date and name for small fee just can't get a refund.

Best places to buy souvenirs

I gave you red make because people who live in Thailand piss me off -
We found a little place we would like to go to again in September alot has changed since you where there. Made in Thailand markets have a refurbish and there is a row of bars called Made in Thai bars next it and we walk through here to go from Soi Boikow to 2nd road, you pop out near Central Festival, you are going to love the food court in the basement there. Any way if you are coming from 2nd road through the Made In Thailand Bars at the end of the bars right in the middle is this bar, what the people running it are trying to call a sports bar well there is a TV that has sports on it and a crammed in pool table. But we had some of our best meals here last trip. One night in Soi LK metro where we hang out at the 3 Some bar, I got a little pikish and got a bowl of soup of this lady for 30 baht. It was so good the bastard beside me ate most of it, so I had to get 30 baht Pork and Rice of another cart. I like Indian curry its not cheap by Thai standards but we ate twice at a place on 2nd road near Tim bar.

Along time ago when you first said this we started using the the Taxi rank if our arrival time was outside of Bus times. Last trip we got this taxi the temperature of the cab was perfect, the music was enjoyable and not to loud, he didn't speed or weave in out of traffic. He didn't stop at the shop or for petrol, we were thinking great we will get his number might be able to use him again. But when we got to Pattaya he had know idea! we even gave him the address in Thai and told him we knew how to get there but he still stoped and asked for direction twice. We will still use the Taxi rank it was just a bit of a let down after such a nice drive.

Doctors and Dentists visit in Thailand
aussiechic replied to aussiechic's topic in Doctors, Dentists, Clinics and Hospitals
Not so good dentist visit on Soi Baukao 12 months before I had visited Hollywood dental across from JP court in Soi Longkee and he fixed a chipped tooth and clean my teeth for me for 600 baht but said it was a small filling and might come out which it did after a couple of months and now there was a hole I needed to get repaired. I didn't want to go back to him as I had complained about one of my back teeth hurting on the inside (got this fixed at Pattaya Int that’s another story) and he wanted to remove my wisdom teeth said they were putting pressure on my other teeth (crap). So I was walking passed BK Dental on Soi Baukao on the corner across from Oasis and they have a sign out the front with prices on a picture sign 600 baht for filling, so I went in and they gave me an appointment later that day. I arrive 10 mins early and they took me straight in and up some steep stairs very clinical ( sparse and white) 2 girls seen to me in the chair and the Young female dentist came in and asked me what I needed I showed her the tooth she cleaned it had a bit of trouble with the little cage for around my tooth she was very rough and the assistant was very clumsy with the sucker, kept sucking my lip even stuck it up my nostril once. When she was finished just pushed the tray from me and said goodbye and left took all of 20 mins. Didn't ask if there was anything else or check, my teeth needed cleaning she should of seen that. The bill was 1400 baht asked why, because they did 3 procedures 600 baht each. I question this further as I didn't even have a needle. She said that the dentist filled and put 2 coats over the filling so thats 3 procedures, so I said that would be 1800 baht this confused her “know only 1400 baht” I had about 1460 baht so she got a lot of small notes. No receipt I was bit angry which I very rarely get in Thailand after about 40 mins I went back and told her I want a receipt which she wrote out for me still trying to explain the cost. After crap service I didn't want them putting the cash in their pocket and not putting it through the books. Only $44 Australian but it was not a happy visit. Next Visit to Pattaya International to get my teeth cleaned and find out why my tooth was hurting. Update it is so long ago I can't remember exactly what happened but I do remember it hurt a lot and the Old male dentist kept laughing. Now go to the Pattaya International Dental Center on Soi Buakhoa http://www.pidcdental.com/
