  1. And this would be a time where I would be happy to have 3 others.
  2. That was how it was when I flew last year, but this year, at the end of June, no.
  3. But some do like it..... and I would say for fun and craziness Songkran is the best time to go... for me not, and of course a lot of residents get out of town too. For weather, November works, a little ahead of the higher season. My choice was always September as I like the low season atmosphere, not a fan of crowds. Don;t like the April to June heat...
  4. I gave it a try too, enjoy a good old USA style unhealthy sandwich now and again. Not very busy on an evening, most people in that area seem to forego food for all day drinking!
  5. I tend to agree. A haircut for me is like an aggravating necessity and I stop en-route to town at an old style place on Soi Siam CC road where I get a regular haircut, eyebrows, nose hair and ears included, for 80 baht. (100 with tip!). I wouldn't have the patience to sit there for more than 15 minutes. I don't go for barber shop shaves though, as on two past occasions I have developed very itchy neck rashes after.
  6. With a US Passport you will get 30 days Visa waiver so no problems. You are supposed to be able to show a flight out within that period, as well as 10,000 baht available.for spending money 20,000 for a family, although I hear most people are asked to show 20,000 if they are asked at all! The ticket out and monetary requirement are rarely checked at the airports.

  9. Sorry, but confused by the 'then saute them for 2 hrs' in water,' you probably mean simply add water and cook and reduce for 2 hours. The type of peas you were looking for sound like 'garden' peas.
  10. Walter Matthau
  11. Didn't see much of an increase when I bought a few cases today. SML Small, case of 24 was 970 baht, I think that is what I paid in August. Heiny big bottles, case of 12, 820 baht, maybe was 790 last month, not sure.
  12. A cool morning with light rain.....

  13. Burl Ives
  14. Charlton Heston.

  18. Oh great. And nobody knows what became of Joekicker who previously had the most posts!
  19. I too last ate there some years ago and again at the behest of a Thai woman. Walking back to my hotel down 2nd Rd my barfine insisted 3am was a mealtime... when all I wanted was to do the deed and get to sleep! The Thai omelette was also my choice, who can mess that up! Could do worse, perhaps the nearby Apex or Lek breakfast buffets!
  20. That works thanks... They were still selling bottles at 50 baht when I passed an alcoholics corner bar near Arunothai today, so the sky did not yet tumble upon us! Although a friend complained the price of his cigarettes had gone up more than that. He said 30 baht on a pack.
  21. So a bottle of beer goes up far more than a can of beer. There are of course bottles containing 0.63 and 0.33L so I hope the figure above applies to the larger bottles. Either way it doesn't seem to be volume related. In themselves these numbers are not as shocking as expected, there have been some bigger number flying around that were. In a GGB my SML might be 172.05 baht now... actually I would expect the GGB to eat the 2 baht...... No mention of draft beer......
  22. I have lived here for 12 years you idiot!
  23. Diarrhoea?
