  1. Beware of the soi Buakhao area then, no pavements and an abundance of MC taxis racing around. That is the reason they built the hospital there!
  2. Sorry if I bent your ears overly.... nothing like 8-9 bottles of beer to get a person spilling his opinions!
  3. I am using some 'Yorkshire Tea' myself right now, but admit to brewing one-cup (largish beaker actually) at a time. I prefer it to Tetleys.
  4. So last night I am thinking, great, roadworks on Klang will be finished for the day, so I can have a hassle free ride into town in the evening. Wrong.... roadworks at the Soi Siam CC and Railway line bypass junction with police controlling traffic there, tailed back 1/2 km. There is nobody like the Thai police for causing traffic jam ups.
  5. Better have a night out before the new tax is implemented Saturday.

  6. Saw my first accident at the tunnel exit yesterday.... they make a mess of it there.

  7. You can bang your head a lot too here, when I first came all the locals were tiny. I rarely venture out on balconies because high ones give me the eeby-jeebies! Topic also active on Thai Visa after a Russian fell.
  8. Well I was in there last week thinking the place needed some hands on effort, so good luck! I stayed for only one drink, and the reason I left was I was being aggravated by girls on the main stage having 'conversations' with those in the wet area at the top of their lungs. Hard to get the attention of service too as they were pre-occupied scrounging drinks or just goofing around. You have carbon-copy competition pretty much next-door at Annabells, where I recently met the new manager from the USA. I wish you luck and will be popping in some time soon.
  9. Yes I usually turn left onto Arunothai and down soi Sophon... bump-bump-bump, but if it backs up like it did Monday there is still likelihood of delays. Yesterday I did continue past and make the U-Turn on Sukhumvit. On a small bike and needing to head right, one has to watch the traffic exiting the tunnel.... some come out of there racing! I am using Soi Yume to avoid Klang heading out of town.
  10. Take a look in Simple Simon next time you visit immigration.

  12. Well some chaos persists..... As I rode my little yammy Southbound on Sukhumvit yesterday morning, I positioned myself to keep my choices open, I was debating whether to use the new lights to get into Klang, or to pass on by and use the U-Turn and get onto Suk 42/2, cut through over Arunothai and pass by Pirates etc to Bongkhot, and pop out onto 3rd rd.....As luck would have it, the Right turn light went green, so I slipped in-front of the dopey locals as they put their phones down, and got onto Klang. Big mistake.... cable digging roadworks queued all the way back, traffic from Northbound Suk trying to push in, and so tight even the bikes could not squeeze through. This all could have been done when the tunnel was under construction and Klang was near empty and closed off at the top! It also struck me that traffic would move better if people were not still permitted to park Kerbside along Klang in the vicinity of the work where traffic has to merge. Merge is perhaps the wrong word, fight and jam up describes it better. Am I condemned to continue as per tunnel construction times?
  13. What an excellently presented advert.
  14. Mine seems to manage everything on 2 gas rings! Fitting a Thai kitchen, outside of course, was a first move when I got this house.
  15. Quite simply... no oven! I don't do much cooking.. she does it Thai style.
  16. When I was working in the USA I was doing similar, with real coffee, Folgers and a percolator. My problems from the habit were stomach related.
  17. I have no idea what the place charges (later edit: 700 baht fan room) but under those circumstances I believe Khao Sahn Rd is where they head for. I remember seeing this place many yeas ago, if I am correct there was a pretty obvious 'No Sex Tourists' sign prominently displayed on the front, which surprised me as I was exploring from The Nana hotel at the time.
  18. I was going to give the place a try only a few days ago and was put off by the appearance, seemed cramped and overly casual. Do they perhaps focus on eat-out.
  19. Also the 'real' bread doesn't stay fresh very long, like the processed sliced stuff in the plastic bags. I love fresh bread and if I can get it from town to home quite quickly enjoy it at its best, but certainly not the next day. Keep in mnd I live 12 km out of town, and there is no bakery nearby. I used to live on soi Siam CC and there was spoiled by a French place nearby and a short trip for me or the Mrs in the morning.
  20. I remember seeing your garlic toast before and being surprised that you seem to use regular sliced bread. Good alternatives available in Big-CX,, good Paninis, or Best on Nua near the Dolphin roundabout. I freeze some and microwave when needed, although I could do with some schooling how to get the best out of it.

  23. C'mon, the place will be packed with tree hugger backpackers and bleeding heart liberals!
