  1. Yes, I believe so. And the amount is the same price whether it is a tourist extending his 30 day visa waver entry for a further 30 days, or an Expat getting another extension on his ancient Non-Imm O, for 365 days. That is my point about it not being much of an earner for Immigration. There will often be Re-entry permits required, and a multiple is quite expensive at 3800 baht. I wonder how many Expat retirees actually need one, I expect most would go get a cheap 1000 baht single if need to go home arises, otherwise stay in Thailand. My underlying point is, the cost of being retired in Thailand, has been fixed and to be honest, cheap, for a long time.
  2. Yes, here.....http://www.pattayatalk.com/forums/topic/67583-the-future-of-long-haul-opinions/?p=1189179

  4. You may be able to get medical insurance from the guy at the Expats Club. He has been able to source some suppliers that will consider older guys. As to the £238,000.. you are on your own! What makes you think they want more Expats....? Not much money in them as far as immigration are concerned, Just 1900 baht p.a. for quite a bit of processing.
  5. I think polymer £10s come out in September, so likely the exchange shops will no longer accept the old ones after that.
  6. The fact is Concorde was not permitted to land in US airports for 3 years, while it was already servicing Bahrain and Rio. The sonic boom and noise were cited as reasons although the sonic boom (triple) from The Space Shuttle, was tolerated, and the fact Concorde was allowed to land in NYC later although it was not any quieter. I don't believe any blame can be laid at Boeings doors, after all they had their own supersonic project
  7. I can't remember whether it was 'every time' but yes, my most recent trip ex Manchester I did the same.

  9. Superrich only,, which are not in Pattaya yet. They are at Phuket Airport though. Never had an opportunity to get £50 notes while I was in the UK, only used ATMs and got 10s and 20s.
  10. Yes a regular customer should not get 'gazupmed'.........
  11. Had he paid any money up-front? And how far ahead did he book? Just wondering .... I agree changing the price just 7 days before is taking the piss, but also expect some deposit to fix a future booking.

  13. Basically, it is all a bit of a mess at an extremely busy junction, caused by something designed to alleviate, it that they won't open! Hard to anticipate what you will come across each day at this junction......
  14. I just did Qatar Biz back to Thailand....it was a fairly good flight. Dreamliner from Manchester, which was an updated cabin, but an older style one in a 777ER from Doha. So if you book try and get their A380 from/to BKK as that is great. They also let me and other transit passengers straight off the plane into the terminal at Doha, so no horrible repeat of security checks! Good job as I had a short 1 hr transit. (Bags made it no problems). Qatar are likely struggling right now due to their tiff with their neighbours. My flight had to dodge their airspace and hence came in over Iran, then when we took off from Doha we were all around the houses dodging around the tip of the Oman peninsular.

  16. Well on Sunday I had to pass by this way so thought great, I can turn right off Sukhumvit onto Klang, helped by the lights, rather than pass by and make a dangerous U-Turn amidst the coaches queuing to get into rubber perverts world. But nope... the lights have been set to flash and concrete blocks set to prevent turns into Klang. You can squeeze through on a bike but you risk your life trying to get across the Northbound Sukhumvit traffic into Klang.. it's a chicken run. Coming back the other way, as traffic was light I bypassed the shit by going to the end of Arunothai, and straight across at the lights onto Yume and right at the 7-11, onto Sukhumvit passing the Radi Mansion. I can understand them doing this to keep Sukhumvit moving while they dick around scratching their nuts over opening the tunnel, but FFS get on with it!

  18. I did a couple of trips for work and there and then decided I would never be visiting for tourism purposes. My sister went to Goa and spoke well of it. I believe it is a good place to visit for the younger back-packer types, which isn't me in the slightest.
  19. You won't be wanting 10 years of it trust me!
  20. Back in Thailand.... rainy and cool.

  21. Posted it before that I once saw a disable guy in his vehicle coming down a Pattaya street with a laughing Thai tart in front of him and thought great place isn't it! Like you seen them having a ball in a GGB an the girls make him feel 'unconfined'....
  22. Wow, that would explain the attitude.
  23. So now it is also a medical diagnosis!
