IDL... the UK national ones last a long time.

There are some Biz Class fares ex-Bangkok coming in at under 80,000 baht with a good carrier (Etihad) and Turkish aitlines is becoming competitive. I paid 96,000 last year. Need to book well in advance. The reduced oil price should be filtering through. Might be in economy myself though and not looking forward to it.

To be clear, it is the conversion of a tourist visa/Visa Exempt to a Non-Imm O (in preparation for a retirement extension), which can now only be done in Bangkok. One can arrive in Jomtiem with a Non-Imm O, obtained in your home country or say Laos, and apply for an initial (first time) retirement extension there. More detail in this Thai Visa thread.

Yes I have done that flight, but both ways. There was a special deal on the Biz Class ex BKK, so it was cheap, and the flight south was a 747, so we got lie flat beds which seemed like overkill for a 2 hour hop. My Mrs didn't like the red wine so I drank hers too and had a definite sway waiting at passport control in Changi.

When I saw the OP yesterday, prior to any replies, I just felt, 'I can't be bothered even applying any thought or research to this;........ It developed more legs than I thought it would.
