  1. Yes good one. When I was there I didn't even try to drive, we were given a driver. He was bloody terrible and killed or maimed 3 dogs!
  2. Edward Scissorhands Well Ndugu, I'll close now. You probably can't wait to run and cash this check and get yourself something to eat.
  3. I found Riyadh in KSA pretty bad, some very aggressive driving there. Caracas always sticks in my mind too. Manila...... slow slow and painful. I drove a lot in Kuwait, easy peasy! But my did I see some horrific accidents (excessive speed, powerful vehicles) Surprising what you can get used to. Lots of places worse than Thailand..... although there are astounding examples of stupidity occurring regularly to keep you alert.
  4. You would likely go register at an AIS/DTAC or True service counter in the Mall. I have found some pretty good English speakers there. Can't imagine a little 7-11 on the dark side handling it. I registered my AIS number with my old expired passport and have never updated it. In fact I had an epiphany a few months back when I had logged onto their website and entered my old PP number where it was asking for my National ID card number and was able to access more services.
  5. Cold Mountain
  6. Al Pacino in Devil's Advocate. What are you doin' here? You oughta be out in a convertible bird-doggin' chicks and bangin' beaver.
  7. Stickman posted our extensions may well cost us 3000 baht next year!
  8. Possibly by sneaking bottles out of the door.
  9. Inception
  10. Animal House. You pompous, stuck-up, snot-nosed, English, giant, twerp, scumbag, fuck-face, dickhead, asshole.
  11. You do not know shit, let managers speak. I modified my post slightly to make it clearer nevertheless. I have sat there as a friend argued with a manager as to whether he was serving what was ordered.
  12. Is it me or is it getting hotter?

It's still chilly at night riding a motorcycle..but yes, the days are getting hotter.

  13. After 5+ years of frustration dealing with TOT I moved my lazy ass and cancelled them. True were offering the best deal at the time, plus I have to justify the ugly cable they ran over my garden. I still have Sophon, my True Vision actually came free (basic crappy package of channels) with the internet, and I never watch it. They also gave me a post-pay SIM with some free monthly calls....... obviously trying to hook me into them. I don't miss TV much.
  14. Too many games being played with mixed drinks...... from small measures, to poor quality well drinks being substituted for what you ordered, watered down drinks and charging separately for the mixers. A tough job for good management to keep an eye on.
  15. Mine are all registered, as you say there was a drive around 2005 when I did this with AIS. My True SIM was registered when I changed the Intersim to True-H. You should download the True App, it is useful for me as I have their Internet, TV and SIM and can pay the bill all in one go. I can see the phone credit available quickly too.
  16. Why have you left True out of the picture? Anyhow I uses 12Call but only on GSM and do fine. Since you seem to be either in Jomtiem or Walking St, I thought signal would not be a problem.
  17. Thanks for posting that Shilo, allowed me to see it here in Thailand. I quite enjoyed it. It showed the Thai staff at Swampy in a very good light, and deservedly so. Their inherent good nature and cheerfulness very apparent. Sadly not the British....... who seemed to be incapable of getting their act together or accepting the responsibility for their own failings. An Americanism seems to fit.... dumb Bimbos!
  18. Reservoir Dogs The music coming up from the floor was our old friend, Ludwig Van, and the dreaded Ninth Symphony.
  19. Alien 3
  20. IDL... the UK national ones last a long time.
  21. There are some Biz Class fares ex-Bangkok coming in at under 80,000 baht with a good carrier (Etihad) and Turkish aitlines is becoming competitive. I paid 96,000 last year. Need to book well in advance. The reduced oil price should be filtering through. Might be in economy myself though and not looking forward to it.
  22. Is that the green HV box that was being used as a Beach Rd Lolitas?
  23. Mine was expired, but I took it anyhow, got it tossed back to me. Licenses in English work alone.
  24. A wander around the Jomtiem area may be interesting, to see which projects are a hive of activity, or whether some seem to be dragging their heels. That thought came about as I overheard some guys talking about a big project there which appeared to have stalled for a while, but work had recently resumed.... (not the Waterfront.)
  25. To be clear, it is the conversion of a tourist visa/Visa Exempt to a Non-Imm O (in preparation for a retirement extension), which can now only be done in Bangkok. One can arrive in Jomtiem with a Non-Imm O, obtained in your home country or say Laos, and apply for an initial (first time) retirement extension there. More detail in this Thai Visa thread.
