I had to buy a can opener and got one of those strange ones that cut on the outside rim, as opposed to the inner top lid. Every time I use it, which is infrequently, I struggle to figure it out.

I started buying Dettol when I first came here, I like the smell, and it also doubles for medicinal use. Don't know why but it seems a recent thing for me to baulk at the price of some things. Washing powder is another pricey item, she does a lot of washing, and I have to buy the stuff with a picture of a front loader on it! She manages to get bleach marks on a lot of things which I believe comes from the use of 'Haiter' in a pink bottle... she will pour it straight onto things sometimes. Sailing Bill mentions Villa often, I pretty much never go in there, it's the Pattaya equivalent to Harrods for me! Big-C have a sort of member card which you just scan at checkout, and every now and again I get a discount of 100-150 baht which is worth having! The pastries in there are quite good and a single serving quiche is about 70 baht and a nice snack with a coffee. Can get a coffee for 40 baht, I have already mentioned my aversion to paying silly Starbucks prices. I talk to a USA guy in there who gets those sachets of coffee and sugar and a cup of hot water for less. I think it is rubbish, but he says there is some cholesterol advantage over the filtered/brewed stuff I get. There are some odd folks and old disabled falangs in there early mornings who seem to pass time. At weekend by midday it is packed like a school canteen.

Does a couple of glasses each morning with a small electric juicer. If she is off to Bahn Nok for a while she spends time making a jug for the fridge and I resist the temptation to drink it with gin!

Mrs pays about 300 baht for 5-6 kilos of tangerines from Naklua market, to make fresh juice daily...lasts about a week.

Everything is upside down in there lately with the reorganization,

Haven't seen it on the shelves and TBH worry about the Mrs handling strong chemicals.

I think you need to tell us what items you need to know about... Dettol, what a rip off, about 500 baht for 500ml. The smell reminds me of UK hospitals and makes one feel things are clean. Wannabee copies a plenty.

Yep, I usually pay 150 plus tip. And your concierge would probably see that as expensive. A THai guy came and sat next to me once in the barbers and he paid less. Sometimes a little Thai comes in handy.

Foxed again, a large Gillette Gel at Foodland is 400 baht, couldn't bloody believe it! Tesco when I get a chance!

Not that I am married but the marriage extension always looked like a lot of pissing around..... plus you had to wait a month in limbo for Bangkok to approve it! That and getting immigration goons visiting your home and requiring Thai neighbours to vouch for you, no thanks. Even agents prefer to push a retirement extension on you instead. I am not saying it is likely, but fall out with the Mrs and you get a week to get out! (After thought, you feel having a USA marriage certificate might make it easy, but I suspect you may have to get it certified by USA embassy and/or Thai Ministry of Interior).

Haven't visited Lotus since they made North Rd so difficult. Plan to pop into Foodland today for a look, now it is more about getting what I want than price. Have a large stock of disposable razors that need a good lubrication else I lop the top off a mole by my nose which will bleed for ages! Tempted to come home a different way though. I miss the Tesco/Lotus convenience store that was near Numchai years ago, and on my usual route. Typhoo tea, despite what the Chimps say, is a bit tight on the tea and I get a weak brew in my mug! Yorkshire from BigC is my brew of choice.
