  1. Darn, no sigh of crumpets in the freezer Sunday.... any idea if out of stock or simply relocated?
  2. Yes that was my recollection and experience......my thoughts are that 'Priority' should be easier, rather than the furthest away point it can possibly be. Airports in this part of the world are destined to be crowded with folks yet to learn about queueing, or how to use a bathroom.
  3. Leaving it is at the far end again... on the check in level. On arrival I had already walked a long way and it was like Calcutta railway station.
  4. Finding the priority passport lane is not so straightforward these days.. It had actually been some years since I arrived in BKK and I felt completely confused looking for priority..... many directions seemed to be for special people, it was crowded and near bedlam. That said, when I got to immigration lines, it was moving fairly well. I was met by Nam's taxi service and was very pleased with them.
  5. Just done a flight myself. and pardon me for drifting off the topic of domestic flights. Could have gone far far cheaper with Air Asia, but decided against it... getting to DMG is aggravation enough early mornings. Nor did I want to mess about with seating charges and baggage. I could have managed with carry on but was not prepared to drag a case in transit... SQ and Changi do all that very well. Sadly air travel is getting worse in this part of the world, as the airports fill up with 3rd world monkeys that truly irritate, facilitated by cheap budget carriers.
  6. Good..... although I spotted Bangkok plate cars parking near the Klang/3rd corner illegally without concern...there is a very popular restaurant on the South side.
  7. Makes it sound very likely living here will be the death of me!
  8. I don't know what was going on yesterday but traffic was horrendous, early morning from Soi Siam CC all the way in, and early afternoon second Rd was heavy, but surprisingly Bua Khao not so. The road works at 3rd and Klang are no fun too. I know Chinese New Year has not done yet but I didn't think that was it.
  9. Tuesday I visited someone in Bangkok Hospital Patts, who ironically is there from complications of breathing issues. His view was out over Naklua bay towards Laem Chabang, well it would have been had it not been so smoggy. Gave me an appreciation of how bad it is of late. The room was freezing too!
  10. Yeh, I found the Warburton's crumpets last Sunday and have a pack in my fridge now. My searching for the Yorkies pies had that compensation.
  11. A few UK items did appear on the Big C shelves a few months back. Yorkshire Tea for one, also PG Tips (the one that the monkeys drink), Heinz Salad Cream, Batchelor's Mushy Peas and some soups and cordial drink and others items. Sadly these things don't seem to last, ie they won't be there the following month... but who knows. The Pantry in Jomtien is out of my way somewhat.
  12. I think you will find that the E Tourist Visa is valid for 3 months, but for a single entry, stay is permitted for 60 days. A multiple entry is valid for 6 months, each entry a 60 day stay given. Don't see the point when a Visa exempt giving 60 days stay, extendable for 30 more is available. This is not to be confused with the proposed Electronic Travel Authorization (ETA), for Visa Exempt travelers. As far as I know not required yet. (Sounds like a Visa to me!)
  13. The stamp in your passport for 6th March..... something called the Permission to Stay is exactly that. A Visa is not. Probably you could leave and re-enter on the E-Visa and get another 60 days permission. A 30 day extension obtained in country, is also an option pre March 6th.
  14. Found them.... in the tall cabinet fridges near all the frozen stuff. Damned supermarkets moving stuff about. Now a nice big Cornish pasty planned for lunch tomorrow. Just what a growing man needs.. growing old and fat that is.
  15. Yes actually it was... and it was parked right on the edge of the no parking line so seemed odd. Strange as an anti-theft measure too though, easier to lock the doors or use a steering lock.
  16. Don't see these too often around town... some might say not often enough.
  17. Usually buy a few pork pies, sausage rolls, Scotch eggs and such from BigCX.. nice lunchtime snack. But last Sunday, just a few leftovers. Today nothing, usual location full of garlic bread. Had a search but not found elsewhere. Have they moved, BigC dropped them or Yorlies packed in? FBWY...?
  18. I remember last time I flew out of Manchester, I had decided to get a room near the airport, I declined the Radisson which is in it, and requires a mortgage. I got the train, which is good if you have time and can risk leaves on the track, and it drops you nearly in the airport. Problem is, these hotels are not as close as you expect. Apparently a minibus does the rounds, and you are supposed to call them... but I tried to walk. I was freezing cold and knackered by the time I made it... there are all these barriers to stop you crossing roads!
  19. Caught a review on YT only recently which was a bit negative on China Eastern (in Economy, ex Europe to Bangkok via Shanghai), food looked truly awful ex Shanghai.... a pal of mine told me 'does what it says on the tin'...although he is a pretty tolerant type who liked o save a few coppers.
  20. Whilst that is a pretty good price some other details are relevant.. like carrier and layovers. For example, I might pass if it was on Biman and with 12 hours layover in Dhaka. I have just been looking at a flight to Bali (ex BKK) in a couple of months... and Skyscanner prices I got before Christmas I put alerts on them ready to catch a price drop... but they have gone up since!
  21. Thanks... amazing stuff.
  22. This place on soi 15 has been closed down... by a court order from the USA, stamped a certified copy by a Mr O'Toole. If it was the 1st April I would find it more credible. Said notice on the door... what on Earth is going on and how does this jurisdiction extend so far? The little kiosk massage places one sees in the Avenue....my mind is like a sewer, but I have often wondered whether the curtain ever gets pulled across fully! As all know, one of my major hates. This is the pavement on Sai 2, wow, a pedestrian pavement! And no food carts in the way. Perhaps not in good enough a condition for them. Certainly not fit for the substantial foot traffic there is around this time of year. Beware, with the strong sun in your eyes, a business generation scheme for the nearby Memorial Hospital perhaps? Sunday lunch, very busy at the Big-CX food court. Why on earth is the only Bangkok Bank ATM in the Mall out of order and has been so for a month plus now? It is a relatively new machine. First they closed their branch, and now they don't even maintain an ATM. (New Branch and ATMs just up Klang before you get to Foodland, but that is not the point).
  23. Hardly a sanctuary for the wildlife, bar the dark-side adolescents.
  24. Pretty sure I have been asked to rate hotels after an Agoda stay...always thought it was an average of those rather than rating on facilities for their system.
