Very happy with pay as you go in both UK and LOS, although the UK has snatched my credit off me a couple of times after not using it for over 6 months.

It will come I believe. But more to do with supplying telephones at less than cost, in order to keep you 'on their network'. Not sure why that policy has not caught on here yet. (For clarity on 'here'.... look under my avatar)

I agree. That price is not much more than regular Biz Class fares and for some carriers, less......I need a flight ex UK in mid July, which of course is peak pricing time. Prices on Etihad, Biz Class are coming up very high. I took a look at Emirates and found first class at just over them (but not as cheap as your fare). If I search 'by schedule' you can cherry pick the A380 flights. It will be breaking my cherry and my bank to pay for a First Class flight myself.

I have bought tickets ex Bangkok while here in LOS, via the internet, and used a UK credit card to pay for them. The price was converted from baht to £ for me. That was with either Qatar or Etihad. Set your location to Thailand (English) on the airline web-pages. You don't mention it, but I suspect you are buying a ticket in someone else's name. That might be the issue, or the need to show the credit card at check-in. Try approaching the airline offices in the UK........ (You aren't comfortable sending someone the money to buy their own ticket......) Thai taxes are substantially less than UK ones.

Well I do wake up a bit fuzzy, but mostly not too bad. One decided advantage is Etihad supply me a nice Mercedes to drive me onward in comfort from the airport. If I could guarantee an empty row to lie down on in economy that is far better. I think I got pissed off once when told I couldn't have another drink until I got one with the crappy meal in economy. And that was the end of my long-haul el-cheapos! A glass of bubbly as the pretty stewardesses bustle around getting ready to close the doors appeals to me. And I don't have to hang around in the transit lounge between flights... they aren't very good in either Abu Dhabi or Qatar.

I live here and am not worried in the slightest. I see you are from the UK so you should not be either. Perhaps someone flying from USA via South Korea or Japan might have more reason. Seoul is another 5 hours flight away.
