I have always thought finding 'peace and quiet' in Thailand was a forlorn hope. Neighbours dogs, soi dogs, temples and loudspeaker systems running around the village (4am-5, monks chanting, 5am-6, volume up and connected to some ring in program on Buddhist matters). I moved out of town to get away from bars and Karaoke, but the easiest village solution is go to bed early too!

Yes exactly right....up early, fridge restocked.... cup of coffee being positioned by the laptop about when Mixx is chucking out. Tap-tap-tap I go, being pithy fuelled by O'Reilly in the background. And when my computer shows devoid of 'Unread' posts I look at my pool, thinking time for the daily exercise. I might pop back later, after the swim and shower, to see if I have generated any hate mail, correct any possible over-enthusiastic responses of mine (those posts I spewed forth before the coffee went around), and fix any spelling errors...horror upon horrors. I vainly hope I kick start the morning for others too.

Are you saying they didn't use the motorway (No7) , nor the elevated road on Hwy 3. Sri Racha is a bad bottleneck and I can't imagine staying at ground level down what is effectively Sukhumvit! (The last one I used went down 7, came off before Chonburi and was soon up on the elevated Rd West of the motorway... we made it quite quickly.)

I had business in Jomtiem and ended up in a MP nearby, desperate for air-conditioning and a shower and rub down after riding around on my bike in the sun.
