Yeah I got held up coming down that road by a large truck belching fumes in my face... couldn't get past the damned thing and another one wanted to come back the other way. Traffic snarl-ups, dust (or muck if rainy) noise and pollution for a while down Soi 15 and Buakhao.

Well I just renewed my Sophon recently. 3000 baht a year, and they tagged on 2 free months to last year. As to deteriorating, I wouldn't say so, if anything I would say the picture quality has, on avarage improved. But still gets fuzzy mid afternoon when the sun is strong. Occasional loss of transmission, as maintenance is done, or some twat steals the cables. They get it fixed though. More Russian channels, and occasionally a DVD gets played with Russian soundtrack or Thai, where it is supposed to be the English Channels. If anything Pattaya One has deteriorated, repeated news items (shit there must be enough going on in Pattaya not to repeat the same News at weekends or Thursdays), and they don't update their information like currency exchange rates and fuel prices.... so why bother. Quite often you get a news report where the video is skipping...... The loss of some channels (Star Plus) and Premiership football is missed, I watch it for News mainly, BBC, Fox and Al Jazeera.... and catch the odd film re-run. The main Thai channels are there with good reception so my missus is happy. For 250 baht a month I think it is okay. (Serves me right, we had rain Sunday and now the picture 'reception' is somewhat poorer).

It's a pity they don't continue on the Bangkok flights to Clark, rather than Hong Kong!

I am finding that to be the issue with many of the seafood places I used to use in the area North of Banglamung, near the sea. If not the tour-bus crowd, the locals on their way to Bangkok, perhaps themselves moved along by the tour bus crowds, are filling places up. I think there are better choices South of Pattaya but who wants to sit at traffic lights for ages. (The OP will get Gabor plenty of greens to sate his appetite for them. )

Well they are being put together in Thailand now so, likely a lot cheaper than say a Triumph.

Rosy's is not too great I am sorry to say. Okay for your bog standard pub grub, pie and chips, etc, but very disappointed last time I had roast dinner there.

I don't suppose they are... as to the Multinationals uprooting and moving, it will all take time, and the minimum wage in Thailand is still a lot less than many other countries. Try getting someone in France to work 10 hours in a day, never mind for the Thai money. I think it is about 350 baht/hour in France, relative to 300 baht per day in Thailand.

Well the fact is, their currency seems to be holding one-for-one to the baht pretty well.It has managed to appreciate against the US$ which I believe is what most of them have in their pockets when they come here...feel good factor there for them.

Hmm.... one has to consider the possibility of further weakening of some currencies, or the baht strengthening further.I think the £ might fall a bit more, and the USA looks to be applying further 'quantitative easing'. I have been looking at a Biz Class flight with Emirates and it would be £800 cheaper if I was buying it in the UK!
