  1. I eat no farang food in Thailand, I like everything to be spicy. breakfast = thai chicken soup lunch = somtam on beach or central mall. dinner = a whole fish with lemon and chilli or penang gai or larb moo....... I will often have oysters as a starter with dinner. I eat some pineapple and water melon + I drink that freshly squeezed orange juice
  2. I dont mind paying 5 baht for these shared toilets in the complex along the beach at the bottom of soi 8, it's kind of erotic listening to a girl having a shower or pissing in the cubicle while you have your cock out. Sometimes the girls come over to checkout your manhood. Has anyone tried a ST in the cubicles and then used the showers there
  3. Now that some places are charging the price of 2 whiskeys in New Plaza to use the jacks to strain the spuds there are still places where value can be found. Anyone that dines regularly or makes purchases at bhuakow market (clothes or women) will know about this facility at the rear of the market. ... no wellies or facemask required. The doors are distant enough from the comode that fat people can get inside. I dont mind paying the 3 baht.
  4. Whooooooooooosssssssssssssh
  5. There is one place that has a sign up saying that non customers will be charged 50 baht to use the toilet .... that's what I call a piss take
  6. They play Amy Winehouse's "love is a loosing game" = brilliant. I wish they would play more hip hop and soul, maybe something like Snoop dog/Dr Dre's "next episode" and Alica Keyes/JayZ "Empire state of mind" The beatles are one of the most boring bands of all time, a good English band would be " The animals"
  7. There are lots of very good hotels available for around 1000 baht per night, I am talking about newish hotels with balconies, free internet and a swimming pool ...... and they are girl friendly. Unless you are mega-rich you you not stay at the Amari/Holiday Inn/Marriot. Do a search and you will find lots of great hotel rooms for a very reasonable rate, very clean air conditioned rooms with WiFi can be had for about 500 per night. The standard drops once you go below 400 per night but there are some awful rooms being sold for 1500 + to people that have not done research.
  8. there was no hope of getting a tan with the shite wet weather for the last 3 weeks here, I see the sun is trying to peek out today so lets hope for a better week ahead
  9. I did not realize that people burned CDs or bought them anymore. CDs are so 20th century.
  10. The rats did not come in on the high tide. Many Russians are not paying for chairs and it is in these areas that the litter problem is at it's worst
  11. Best exchange booth on Pattaya Klang on friday march 18 2011 Euro 42.30 GBP 48.55 USD 30.15.
  12. Joe you need to get over the whole shooting the messenger if he shows proof of failings by Thai authorities. I started the post because I was disgusted looking at the rats running around amongst the garbage on the beach. Pattaya beach is a health hazard and instead the the boys in city hall targeting working girls they should make an effort to clean the beach. You showed a couple of yards of a blackspot in Northern Ireland that is not known as an international beach. In the Republic of Ireland we have what you call the Blue Flag standard and 75 beaches hold that very high standard. blue flag beaches in Ireland Of coures we have some litter blackspots but thankfully our Nanny state imposes an on the spot fine of €127 on any lowlife that litters the place. The reality nobody here on this mongers board or in Pattaya should worry about beaches other than the one we are expected to use in Pattaya. City hall and the BIB could make a fortune in impossing litter fines and I hope that they do. I stand by what I said that people from Russia and India nonchalantly throw litter on the ground. Pattaya beach is in a disgraceful state so please stop trying to detract from that basic message by saying there are dirty beaches elsewhere
  13. taken just now on our beloved beach. It will probably look even worse after this festival is over
  14. It's bad enough with all the rubbish on it but the rats are practically haying hello. ...the rats were a little bit camera shy but believe me are there in numbers. ...Pattaya needs more stray cats. It is no wonder the beach is filthy as it used mostly by Russians and Indians, I have seen people from these cultures just throw litter onto the pavement like it's a normal thing to do. ...At least most mongers are not litter louts
  15. It is pissing rain again today on St Patricks in Pattaya. For the past fortnight it has rained almost everyday, very heavy yesterday evening. March is supposed to dry and sunny
  16. i feel compelled to reply to this thread. When I first read all the bad reports I could not believe that the service or the food at Pattaya Beer Garden(PGB) could possibly be as bad as reported. I have visited PGB on 6 occasions thus far on this trip ..... I CAN CONFIRM THAT THE FOOD SERVED TO ME WAS PERFECT AND THE SERVICE WAS EXCELLENT ON EACH OCCASION SO FAR ON THIS TRIP. PattayaPete does not know me and I have no reason to promote his place, I find the staff pleasant and good fun and I never get hassled to order another drink until I am ready. PGB is not somewhere that I go to find a girl because you have to walk all the way across the floor to meet them with all eyes on you and if it does not work out then people lose face in public. Pete really should have put in a couple of pool tables so that it would be easy to break the ice with the girls. One complaint that I do have is that the WiFi signal is now very poor and this may cause some customers to give PGB a miss. It is the best place to chill in the afternoon, have a few drinks and a bite to eat .... prices are fantastic for the location. I am not sure why people did not contact Pete via pm rather than smearing the reputation of his very good bar. Keep up the good work Pete ...... but fix the WiFi.
  17. I did not realise it but it seems that only Northern Ireland and Scotland have £100 bank notes. I have changed a few €200 notes at the Pattaya exchange booths but I have not taken a chance trying to change a €500 note. €100 notes are easy to change.
  18. bad advice ...... on the day I arrived 40.70 was the rate at the airport and 42.05 was available at the booths in Pattaya, some people may not wish to get a better rate and enjoy giving away their money at the airport
  19. there is no commission charged for cash at money exchange booths, If it states that they are offering GBP - 48.30 then you will get 4830 baht for a 100 pound note. There is I think a 30 baht commission charged on Travellers cheques but you do get a higher exchange rate. The worst places to exchange money are your hotel lobby or in a department store. when you arrive at airport you should only exchange enough money to get to Pattaya as the rate at the airport is significantly less than will you will get at the better exchange booths in Pattaya. Of all the main banks siam commercial bank(purple logo) give consistently the worst exchange rates. For a Newbie that may not be able to locate one of the better exchange booths I recommend TT exchange which has a branch on beach road about 80 metres from the entrance to walking street
  20. Hell no. ... I would get two free sims and sell them on for 300 each + get a 100 baht tip each so that I could... A. Get a hottie out of Lucifer for 800 ST or B. Treat myself to a meal in Sizzlers. Decisions decisions
  21. Only for the euro scb 41.63 Bank of ayudyha 41.75 TT exchange 41.90 USD = 30.20, AUD = 30.30, GBP = 48.30 Kaisokorn 41.70 -41.81 USD =30.15 , GBP = 48.18 Exchange on pattaya klang 42.05
  22. Yes I accept there are sim cards for different prices but when it clearly states the cost is 49 baht then you should not be paying 400 baht. Calls are not expensive on the 49 baht sim cards and you always top up by 50 or 100 baht at your local 7-11 or family mart. The average 2 week millionaire would find it almost impossible to spend 200 baht on phone credit unless he was calling his home country on it.. My information is good in that it will make people more aware of the cost. I cant take a photo of sim card packaging sleeve right now because I am online out at the pool. .. Trying to get a tan on another murky day that looks like it is going to rain yet again.
  23. The 49 baht DTAC card has got 15 baht pre-installed. The guy bought a 49 baht DTAC card, Rather than continously haranguing me and trying your best to find any sort of defect in my posts could you for once accept that not all Thai people are nice and honest and many of them make a living out of ripping of guilible farangs. Don't tell me that you forked out more than 49 baht for a 49 baht sim card and then tipped the girl 100 baht
  24. Mr T provides an outstanding service. 1000 baht fom the airport to your hotel in Pattaya with all tolls included. Mr T's cars have always looked clean and safe to me and every driver has spoken sufficient english to know where I am going. His drivers have often waitedfor hours at the airport due to the late arrival of my plane at no extra cost. Well done to Mr T for providing the best value taxi service from the airport to Pattaya
  25. Joe, My Thai number for years was so easy for me to remember it was 08208182xx and I did not pay extra for it. I got a new sim card on this trip where I chose an easy to remember number and I got it fully installed for 49 baht. The guy that I saw forking out 400 baht did not get a special number, he got random mixed up numbers. He did not gain anything by paying more. He was ripped off and just maybe I have highlighted what the real price for a sim card is for people that don't know. The price is normally displayed by the phone company on the outside of the packaging sleeve
