  1. I have stayed at LK Renaissance for the last week with a great room on the 5th floor. Great pool, sauna and good dining right off the lobby. Very professional staff. The price may be a little high, but the deluxe room (not the suite) is worth it. Right in the middle of lots of action, but the rooms are still very quite. I have spoken with the manager a few times, and the policy is no problem with one or more guests. Great place! I was going to move to the Residence Garden for my second week, but changed my mind after taking a Baht Bus over and experiencing first hand the traffic and noise. The Soi Diana Inn. Soi LK Metro, 2nd Road areas are great places to party.
  2. It is right next door to the Rock House. Easy to find! Going to eat there this weekend.
  3. 6 days and 2 hours til wheels up!
  4. Last Oct when I stayed at the RG, a friend got it into his head that we should walk to WS for a seafood dinner. I had only been in Patttaya a day on my first trip, and I had heard how far out RG was. It only took 10 minutes to get from the hotel to standing in front of the FLB, and it was all downhill. Rode the baht bus back. I disagree with those who say it is far away from the action. Baht bus comes by every 30 seconds, and its only 10 baht to anywhere. By bhat bus, WS is less than 5 minutes, Soi 8 is maybe 10 minutes and Soi 6 is 12 minutes. The suites were large, the furniture was modern and in fine condition, and were as good as any hotel I have stayed at in the US at $200 a night. Every suite has a balcony. an electronic safe in the room, a refrig and a microwave. The cleaning staff were friendly and did not bother iif I slept in after a late night. They would wait until I was up and out of the room before they cleaned it. They cleaned my dishes several times during my stay without my even requesting it. The hotel has a breakfast for about 100 bhat, and thai food for less, and a small, 2 or 3 stool bar, without P4P. The Capt. Table buffet at night is excellent, with way too much food. They have an Elvis impersonator one night a week. The staff were friendly and helpful, with never a question or even a sideways glance when a guest or two was brought in. The night security was also friendly and visible.
  5. I can't believe I just calculated this: Just 552 hours until wheels up from LAX. In the LOS in 3 weeks and 2 days!!!!!! Looking forward to my next FLB Crawl.
  6. I stayed there last October and plan to stay this October. The rooms were large, modern, and clean, with wonderful bathrooms (marble and other nice upgrades). The staff were very helpful and friendly. The bell hop took me out in teh TukTuk just after I arrived at 3:30am in a rain storm to the Nana Parking lot. Had a cutie next to me even before we made it to the Nana. Back in the room in less than 10 minutes! never a problem with a guest or two. It is equal-distance between Nana Hotel and Lolitas. Perfect location!
  7. I read EVA is converting all of their 747s to cargo. I flew Elite into and out of Bangkok. Loved the media center in the seat back. The larger seat and leg room was much appreciated. I felt more comfortable in the 747 though. The difference in price was less than $5 per hour in the air. I thought it was money well spent. Just looked at EVA for October from LAX to BKK. RT less than $1000 with 7500 EVA FF miles.
  8. I also posted for my first trip in October 2006 with no response. After arriving in BKK, I had two separate guys I had visited with on the flight ask about sharing a taxi.
  9. For the return to the Residence Garden, just push the button about 15 or 20 seconds after you go under the overcrossing bridge and start up the hill. You can see the hotel on the left side of the road from about a block away. The room I was in had a tub. I really would have liked the walk in shower as I almost fell getting out of it one night after a night on the town. I was lucky someone was there to keep me from falling!
  10. I personally like Dynasty Grande, around the corner from Nana on Soi 6. One of the benefits is it is one block to Lolitas on Soi 8. The rooms are large and the bathrooms are very well appointed and large also. Never had a problem bringing back a friend.
  11. I just read on the Nok Air web site that they will be using the old airport for all domestic flights starting in late March 2007. I don't know if I want to go to Chiang Mai now. Too far from Pattaya!
  12. Just now sent an e-mail to Dennis for a reservation for 10 days in early May. Hope there is room! I'm up for a party...........Does anyone know the BF at the bar?
  13. I stayed at the RG for 11 days in October. They gave me a two bedroom suite and locked the 2nd bedroom door. During one late night, I had a case of the trots, and just then the toilet flush handle/chain broke, forcing me to reach into the water tank to lift the flapper to flush. The toilet paper also ran out at the same time. This was at 3:00am. A quick call to the desk, and the secuity guard was at my door with a couple rolls of paper and the key the the 2nd bedroom and toilet. I was very relieved in more ways than one . As a newby, I found the location to be great. Less than 5 minutes to Walking Street and to everywhere I wanted to go in Pattaya by bus. I will stay there again.
  14. The only timie I Far Fined a service girl was at Soi Cowbow in Bangkok. I was sitting at the bar and she kept rubbing her tits on me as she picked up drinks. A real cutie, almost stunner. Was a tiger in the loom.
  15. I used Mr Toom three times on my recent trip. I arrived at the new airport at 0140 Oct 10. I didn't clear customs and get my bag until almost 0300. Mr. Toom's driver was right there with my name on a sign. He delivered me in a thunder storm directly to my hotel on Soi 6 in Bangkok for 600 baht. A little higher than a taxi, but for my first tiime in LOS, I felt very comfortable with a private car waiting for me after almost 27 hours of travel. A few days later another driver picked me up on time from my hotel and drove me to Pattaya. Offered to stop for a piss break and beer. Drove directly to the Residence Garden for 1200 baht. Ten days later it was back to Bangkok hotel, again for 1200 baht. Safe drivers each time, nice clean cars each time. I will use Mr. Toom next time I am in LOS.
  16. I booked Mr. Toom for my airport to Pattaya run on Oct 17. He responded quickly with his quote of 1200 baht, and I agreed. Anyone looking to share a ride leaving the airport on Oct 17 between 1600 and 1700?
  17. EVA is still flying the 747 from LA and SFO over the Pacific, with the Evergreen Delux class. I booked for early October for $1043 SFO-BKK-LAX through their web site. Could I have done better with a travel agent?
