Got my unlocked quad band cell phone from Tiger Direct ($110 and under $120 with shipping). Got 1000 minutes on a prepaid plan from T-Mobile ($110). Everything works as advertised. I am looking forward to having a phone when I travel overseas now.

I always fly major carriers and jumbo jets. None of those commuter planes.

I am staying at 7 in January. Pool is not number one on my list. I usually stay Soi Diana/LK Metro but thought I would change up.
-
I agree with you but with packhike also. That is my January plan. Will be my first time on EVA business class.

ok I did a google search for Selwin Pattaya and came across a link on the Secrets' board to a bar owner named Selwyn. I am not sure the rules to linking to the Secrets board so I suggest you google "Selwin Pattaya" and look for a link to Secrets. Of course you will have to be a member of that board as well to login and read it. BTW, I think his name is spelled Selwyn

Easiest In and Out With Girls
midlifecrisis replied to tommy622's topic in Hotel and Accommodation Questions
You may not be the only guy but you are in the vast minority. Don't you think the hotel staff sees this 1000s of times a year? Why do you think those hotels, that city exits? My advice is to leave the Western guilt back in the west and appreciate the Asian culture. Do you think Asian men feel guilty for taking care of their male needs? How many times have you been there and you still have Western hangups? The stare at the front desk may be admiration. Good gawd man, cohones! Or find a short time room. -
Residence Garden Suite question
midlifecrisis replied to nchristian's topic in Hotel and Accommodation Questions
My one complaint is the shower hot/cold was hard to control. Other than that I liked it but, no pool and no food on site. For the money good bargain. They check IDs. -
I read your intitial post again, Tom, and except for the opening paragraph I stand corrected. It is a fair criticism of your experience. I did not re-read the entire thread and comments. Again, my criticism was never against critiquing Mr Dream. You are singing to the choir there.

Please do not blame our friends and allies across the pond for this. Turn your anger to the OP - berettakid hehe I haven't been able to sleep for two days!

Residence Garden Suite question
midlifecrisis replied to nchristian's topic in Hotel and Accommodation Questions
Well sir, my last few trips i have stayed at the Areca on Soi Diana, The LK Metropole on Soi Diana and the Pasadena Lodge on Soi LK Metro. All can be Googled (message me if you have problems, a lazy Saturday night) Next trip it is Easiny 7 on Soi 7. My question to you is, what do you want from your trip? Where do you want to go day and night? There is no one answer but these are the right people to help you!!!!!!!!! -
Tom, pimping is modern slang only and not an accepted definition for what you describe by any major English dictionary. It is ghetto talk. I am sorry but that is true. No accredited dictionary accepts the term in the way you meant it. And, you meant it to be provocative and inflamatory and to ellicit the response you got. You were successful. That does not make it a fair or correct usage of the word. Tom you are very intelligent. Please don't be intellectually dishonest. You had an agenda before you wrote your "review". Your history with Mr. Dream's ads goes way back. I believe that 95% of what you wrote was justified criticism, btw. The 5% that was for show, to attract an audience and to influence the "mob" is all I ever objected to. I appreciate the valid criticisms because I have some of those myself. I only objected to the hyperbole. As to having ladies accompany the ride, I was told it was not available when I asked for my August ride to Pattaya. So, was this a public offering or something between you and Mr. Dream? My memory of the original post is foggy (sorry I belong to many boards). Was there something about his real driver switched off to another without Mr Dream's knowledge? That might mitigate some of his fault although I have always thought he owes you restitution - and I believe he offered. Again, I am not defending Mr Dream here. Your post made it impossible for him to have a fair and unbiased hearing on your issues. Your initial hyperbole ended any chance for that. I am not saying you were wrong or he was right or vice versa. I am just criticizing your approach in the post post and its affect. In all fairness to you I will go back and re-read your thread and, putting hyperbole and charged language aside, re-read your criticisms tomorrow (Sunday). In all fairness to you, in reading many posts on many boards at warp speed it is possible to miss things and you deserve a re-reading of your post.

Residence Garden Suite question
midlifecrisis replied to nchristian's topic in Hotel and Accommodation Questions
You are welcome! It is about 15 minutes from Jomtien by baht bus and about a 15 minute walk to WS (20 when drunk). The only negatives I have is I found other hotels in Pattaya for the same or less that put me right in Pattaya. Also, I found the mattresses to be very hard. But there are many plusses, especially for a newbie. I would not stay there again but I am not sorry I stayed there on my first trip! What is your hotel daily budget? There are many good hotels in Pattaya right in the heart of the action. -
I agree that there was some shit written on this site. Saying a guy pimps his business is vulgar and trolling for immediate viliification by the mob. I did not have a great experience with Mr Dream's service but his driver arrived on time which is 75 to 80% after a long-ass flight. The ride was uncomforatble and I wrenched my back. That is why I cannot recommend. This is the kind of honest review thread that should be done and carried forward. An unemotional, no hyperbole, statement of the facts and a thumbs up or thumbs down bottom line. For the money it is probably worth it to Pattaya from BKK. I will spend a bit more next time and ride in comfort. Thumbs down for me.

IMHO, that is indecent exposure. Vulgar and offensive nakedness in a public place. Please ban the OP also!

Residence Garden Suite question
midlifecrisis replied to nchristian's topic in Hotel and Accommodation Questions
They did not in March 2007 when I stayed there. They didn't even check IDs then. I imagine it is the same. edit: oh and I brought back more than one from FLB once. They were easy to get extra towels from also, even at night. I can't remember if they charged for them but it was not on the spot. -
What a joke of a price
midlifecrisis replied to rascall's topic in Hotel and Accommodation Questions
There's no reason? Some people want to stay at the Marriot. Up to them. Some people want an 800 baht room. Up to them. To the op, Areca has nice pools, especially the one out back, serves meals and has large, comfortable beds. To many it is worth 1300. I do not recommend the place. There were no drawers in my room to unpack my clothes and the laundry I sent out smelled like horrible perfume. After many washings back in the states I still have vacation clothes with that lingering odor. Other cheaper choices very close. I stayed at the Pasadena Lodge in August. My only complaint was the hot/cold water in the shower was hard to control but I enjoyed the room. No food offered and no pool. http://hotelpasadenalodge.com/ Irish Rovers is next door but I have not stayed there. http://www.the-irish-rovers.com/
