Thanks for the explanation and the photo. How far along 2nd Rd will the project to go? One would think it's a long stretch. And then there will be disruption to power at the end. I hope they have that well thought out. -

Thanks. Doesn't seem like much but with all the traffic I imagine any work impacts residents and tourists. -

I just read on another post about a "canal" project on Second Road north of Central and its impact on soi 6. What's that all about? Any photos are appreciated. -

But won't it fill up with debris? There must be an access to pump it out. ? I don't recall seeing anything like it but must admit to not being up on storm drain design. edit: Thanks forcebwithu for stearing me to the right question to google. You are right. http://jtv-cipp.com/storm-drain-cleaning-florida.html -

I don't need ants in my pants! It was better living through chemistry. Now it is better living through entomology. -
They were flying blind in a political system that restricted people knowing. There was a known flaw to the kill switch but it was supressed. That's not to say it can't happen in the free world but a closed society exacerbates that problem.

You can't use asphalt for paving there because of the heat I take it. I assume it is concrete? Concrete is generally considered more durable for a road surface. Potholes are often caused by water getting in and expansion and contraction. So it expands and more water gets in. It seems to me like they just don't understand a good mix. There are mixes of concrete for different applications. Also the underlay is important. I am not an expert but we have freeways with big rig traffic that hold up better. Afterall, how many potholes do you see on a runway? If runways can withstan -

I have seen too many bad scifi movies to try it. -
Funny the differences we three had emotionally. I watched it all in one day. I can understand your criticisms though. Nobody knew what they were dealing with. The people on the bridge, for instance.

Others have touched on it but to me the bad thing about a strong baht is not so much as it affects me but how it impacts the ladies working in Pattaya. A decade ago I could afford to be more generous. I could buy more lady drinks. I could barfine every night. I could get an oil massage in the day and a foot massage after walking all day. I could afford to tip decently for any service. Now I will have to be more mindful of my pennies, nickels, dimes and quarters let alone dollars. In the end the businesses might make more but I have a hunch that the ladies make less. Maybe it is made up fo -

Not at all. Only a fool doesn't live within his means. You also highlight something I consider essential. You bring your fun with you. It doesn't take money to guarantee you have a good time. You might long for the 60 baht per days but it doesn't prevent you from enjoying what you can. When you can't you adjust. Sounds like a healthy outlook on life. -
a novel strike breaking approach. I don't think it will work. Crossing a picket line will make those employees very unpopular forever. Being in a union can be tough. But a union is only as strong as its weakest member. Solidarity. I was a teamster for a couple of years when I was first married. Teamsters, I forget the local. UPS. Tossing boxes around as I describe it. Thankfully no labor unreast at that time. If there was....stay out because coming back later would have been Hell. Not a friend to be had. Not many of us can work like that.

Great point. We tourists are the least of the economic puzzle. It isn't doomed. It is the primary reserve currency but as Bigus says Trump would like an even weaker dollar to help American business, It also should help companies on US soil so it is an incentive to come back. Money printing is another issue. I listen to FED chairman Powell yesterday and he was asked about the strength of the dollar. His response was that FED policy is about the overall economy and the Treasury is responsible for currency policy. I understand his point but interest rates have some effect on cur
