I've just finished the 19th Jack Reacher book. All great reads. If you like Bernard Cornwell try the Excalibur trilogy, an amazing insight into 8th century England. Topical at the moment is "The Making of the Atomic Bomb" by Richard Rhodes. A fascinating mix of science and history.

Lazada are very good i have bought 20+ items from them. The only problem is hanging around waiting for delivery. I would never buy anything big from Aliexpress, just asking for trouble.

What annoys me is most won't quote you a fixed price it's 500-1,000 baht. Some places like dentist @ beach will charge you the full price even for a simple clean.

I always ask for a set amount of gas 100 for the bike, 1000 for the car. I watch the meter while he fills and give him the exact money. Only way to stop this thief.

I think the new pumps have helped at least you can see the figures on the pump. Before they were so dim it was hard to see what they showed. I always make sure it reads zero before they start pumping.

I must be one of the few but i really like 3D, not so much at the cinema but at home with a good 3D TV. For me it's got to be passive which means LG. For some movies it really adds something, especially the cartoons (like Despicable Me) but also ones like Avatar and Dredd. Problem though 3D blu-rays are really expensive in the shops so you need to download or buy from TTT.

I can tell you one NOT to go to. The big dentists opposite Tukcom. They completely mislead us about the time and cost of braces. They told us 2 years and a max of 25,000 baht to do. It's now 4 years on and nearly 40,000 baht spent. When we go they always say 3 more months and won't give a final cost. The cost of each visit goes up all the time. I am tempted to go somewhere else to finish the work but that's not easy.

I think the live music is one of the great things about Pattaya. Almost impossible to see live bands in the UK (unless you pay big money).

Am i reading the change in wine tax correctly? It seems to say an increase from 100 baht per litre of alcohol to a 1,000 baht per litre. So that would increase the tax on a 5l box of wine from 65 baht to 650 baht !! I love my Mont Clair but that almost doubles the price.

I never use ANY type of debit/credit card in Thailand unless i really have to. Cash everytime time. Using a card opens you up to potential fraud.
