This will be a funny old World cup methinks. I watched 'Top 50 World Cup Horrors' last night and it became obvious, that cheating to get a player sent off, is on the rise. The standard of refereeing will make a big impact on things. I, of course want us to win. If not, the Italians are pretty consistent in the big stuff. They used to limit the amount of foreign players in their league. Not sure if that still applies, but it helped them in the past.

It's a bit unfair, for those of us whose country is playing, to expect us to vote against them. So Tom, Doncha, Obsession.... Who do you fancy ?

His wife's cousin is a Rabbi, that must have given a clue !

Gus, I think the Cancellatiions are part of company policy to lower capacity on this route. Thai may be doing the same. Empty planes are bloody expensive. Fewer, fuller flights are here for a while.

Hmm, I don't think we have the Hugh Grant- Lilly Allen ( did she look weird when she was clapping Fulhams goal ? ) following they have. Where were those two when Fulham pulled a crowd of 2,000 ? My mate went to watch them play Swindon in the cup this year and the ticket was only £18 at the Cottage.

I told you Wac', no matter how much you built up the tension before the season, it was gonna be one of the usuals. If you want excitement at this time of year, League 1 was a cracker, top and bottom. My mate from Hartlepool was having kittens on Saturday every time Brentford came close to their goal. They stayed up on goal difference at the expense of Gillingham. Three teams could have gone up at the top, without being involved in the playoffs......... We finished 9th- not bad for out first season. Thank you Mr Wenger. The Polish chap was very useful in goal.

350 British tourists cause near-riot at Bangkok airport
nidnoyham replied to lovedog100's topic in Idle Chit Chat
They are quite useful to have on your side in places like Iraq and Afghanistan though ! You American chaps ever wonder why English is your Mother Tongue ? Could it be that the majority of your immigrant ancestors came from our Island ? Why not Spanish, French, Portugese. Italian.......... And your Constitution is based on the Magna Carta, signed by king John, about 3 miles from where I now sit. -
350 British tourists cause near-riot at Bangkok airport

This post has been up for over 24 hours and joeK has not pointed out that you can't say 'Typical' about a race of people unless you have met them all, or at least most of them. Oh - It's about the British. That's why ! -
Having worked in transfer baggage area for the last 10 years of working at LHR. I would not recommend a 1 hour connection. It is possible to make it with your baggage IF Your original flight arrives on time, or early. Connection bags are seperarted at origional station. This means they don't all go with the 'local' baggage to the arrival hall, where they are then sperated from 'Y' bags and taken to transfer area for Screening and distributing to next flight. (This can add 20 minutes to time taken - or more.) Your connection is online I.E the same carrier, not interline, from one carrier to another. You arrive at an off peak time when things are not so busy and staff are not under pressure. Security screening of every bag at the transfer point, has stretched the connection times possible. The airlines however, along with Travel Agents, have pushed for even shorter legal connection times at airports. This gives them a bigger window of flights to book passengers on. If the time is cut from 90 min' to 60, all the flights under 90 min' previously 'illegal connection' were dropped out of the computer system. By making legal connection at an airport 60 min', the flights between 60- 90 become legal connections. Every European airport wants to be the Hub of the Continent. We Baggage supervisors at LHR, were always being asked to improve the connection baggage efficiency, without more man power or costs ! When Star Alliance was first formed, I and other carriers baggage supervisors, were asked what we thought of a 35 min connection at LhR between member airlines. Some of us laughed, or said things like " You cannot be serious ? " Until miracles become the norm' it 'aint gonna happen. If I was traveling I would want 90 min' minimum connection. Good luck.

Glitterman Speaks About Alcohol
nidnoyham replied to glitterman's topic in General Discussion about Pattaya
Never heard of the saying; " Beer lovers get more head ! " -
Spoke to my mate yesterday, just back last week from Rayong. His friend there an Englishman died on Saturday of liver failure, related to drinking. Everyone had told him for months to stop, but he just couldn't do it. Due to the volcanic situation his sister was still with him. She couldn't get a booking until Thursday this week. Once the grog gets you, it takes a supreme effort to shake it off. If there is little else to do, it is even harder.

A quick question for northern England BM's. Our local JD Sports shop has, Liverpool, Man.U and other 'Dirty Northern Bastards' ( Exeter called us that, last week ) shirts for sale. Do you have London club shirts on sale in your towns ? I can't believe you do, but it has always made me wonder why we have yours here. Could it be all you lot living down here ? Are Londoners not as loyal to their City as you oop north ? We have oodles of clubs at all levels to support. Why choose a northern one ? Hounslow is awash with every club shirt, but it's nearest one - mine ! Brentford not got enough razamataz I suppose.

You wouldn't feel comfortable attending an English football match. All those English people talking to each other, enjoying a feeling of common cause ? Cheering their team on regardless of how bad they may be ? Not a Burhka in sight, or a word spoken in another language ? You would feel totally alienated. I have already noticed your lack of things sporting. Just stick to being unfaithfull to your wife with Pattaya BG's. Get one to put her tounge up your arse, while you bend over in front of her wheelchair......... Sport you have played yourself, is what you enjoy watching in later life. You can appreciate how difficult it is to play the game well. Interest in sport is a sign of a well spent, healthy youth. ( not Villa ) Just another Pastry attention seeking post. Tennis- Snooker ? Now I know you are jesting.

Never mind about the top of the Prem'. If Leyton Orient get demoted, we won't play there next year and their clubhouse has 6 real ales on at once. It gets a mention in The Good Beer guide. Opposition fans welcome, before and after the game- but unlike Gillette, not during.

Judging by the response to this thread. Either there are a lot less Functioning Alcoholics in LOS than I thought, or some are a bit shy about it.

Vic, you must stop talking to yourself. People will think you are strange.

That burning feeling in the digestive tract is what I get after a session of 5%+ ale. Tea goes down like molten lead. A drop of milk may help, or take more ice with the drink. Heavy drinking when you get older is not a great idea. I know- it is at the time.

I think the Arsenal goalie, must have trodden in something on the way to the match. If he keeps playing like that, we may keep our on loan lad Wojciech Szczesny, a bit longer from Arsenal. Spellchecker seemed to reject his name ! Football commentators, tend to call him Chezney.

Let's look at the situation from the taxi drivers view. You have well heeled people in your town for a few hours, who you will not see again. They are not familiar with the currency, or prices of taxis. This is not unique to Phuket. I was in Gibraltar over 30 years ago, when the QE2 docked. All prices disappeared from shop windows and in every shop I went, I was asked if I was off the QE2. When I told them I was here for 2 weeks they changed their attitude. A tip for anyone on a cruise. If you do go ashore, don't take a Cruise line hand bag with you. It will push up prices.

After 20-+ trips over an 8 year period, I go along with buriramboy's post. It doesn't have to happen to you, for you to realize the odds are well in the Thais favour. They make and change the rules to keep it that way. Not unlike the rich in any other country. I have seen blokes arrive with wedges of cash and within 2 years be down to a few thou'. Men overstaying their visa, living off the generosity of a bar owner, waiting for the hammer to fall. Others getting involved in drug running to Japan to subsidize their life in LOS ( and getting caught ). It ain't just the Thais who will rip you off, it is fellow Ferangs of dubious backgrounds, looking for the arrival of the newest 'sucker'. It is probably as much not wanting to be seen to fail, that will perhaps make someone take risks they would not take at home. Good luck to those who make it to the end. As long as the end does not come sooner, because of living in LOS.

Add to that- 'Jihad Jane' from Pennsylvania. Arrested in Ireland. She was only there for St Patrick's day 'cos it isn't celebrated in America. Nothing to do with killing a Danish Cartoonist at all. Islam-aphobia everywhere !

I see five 'Americans' were arrested in Pakistan, for terrorist activities. Does this make America a 'cesspool of radicalism' like England ?

The same main stream parties that sent poor white children to Australia to live a life of misery in institutions, get abused, no education and become cheap labour ? These kids were told they were orphaned and had all Doc's changed to stop parents tracing them. This was not in Dickensian England. This was up to and including the 60's and 70's when immigration into Britain was really taking off. Why would you deport your own and bring in others ? The British political system, as an institution you can trust, is in melt down. Sounds like time for a conspiracy theory.

The article did not draw attention to the absence of the Muslims. That was just my observation. They were conspicuous by their absence, so to speak. Perhaps they do join in now, or perhaps the whole thing has been abandoned, I don't study such things too much. I only read the article by chance. Don't tell me, you are going to report the newspaper to some pressure group or other ? I think we will have to rename you Saladin.

It was the Hounslow or Feltham Chronicle. They are all printed by the same publisher. I am going back to 2008 or so. I am no good at this computer link stuff. Why do you think i don't post pic's ? I usually buy it, because it has a lot of news about Brentford F.C.- Read the rest in 10 minutes and leave it in the pub for someone else. Do I get the feeling you think I just made that up ? If I don't see it, I don't say it.
