I have stayed in the AL in July. I cannot commend on the twin beds, always hat a double. Areca Wing is the back part if i rember right. Construction noise was minimal, no problem for me at all. If you want the cheaper price, you have to pay up front with sawadee, that`s the deal. I have stayed at the Areca about 8 times so far an the place gives a good value for Baht 1.050 a night, including breakfast. Have a good trip!

Some more bad news for both. According to Sueddeutsche Zeitung (South German Newspaper), normally a very reliable source, Airbus and Boing have anounced further delays with A380 an 787. Airbus: The delvery shedule for the A380 will be delayed. In 2008, only 12 A380 will be delivered (plan was 13) in 2009, 21 A380 will be delivered (plan was 25) Boing: Even worse:The planned production rate of 10 787`s per month will be reached in 2012! I have stayed in the Areca about 7 or 8 times. Yes, the Hotel is frequented by familys as well. The usually try to place the familys and the asian package tourists in the front building and the single male travellers in the back building . Never had a problem bringing a different girl everynight. If you bring back 2 girls, there is a joiner fee for the 2nd girl, 300 Bath. They insist on the ID Card of the girl. No ID no boom boom. So ask your girl for her ID before you pay barfine! I always enjoyed my stay in the Areca and will be back in less than 2 month .

They have Exec Rooms in the back building too. I think one on each floor, beside the Deluxe Rooms overlooking the back pool. The main difference compared to the Deluxe Room is the room size. IMHO not worth the 850 Baht more the charge compared to the Deluxe Room.

The Areca Lodge could be a good joice for you. Rumours, rumours!!! I got the following story from 2 different sources ( Airbus and a key Aerospace supplier ): Both told me independently, that the 787 fuselage did bust during a pressure stress test. If that is true, the delays will be much bigger than expected. This would come on top of the fact, that the parts that are manufactured by the different program supplier simply don`t fit to each other. Even better, Bangkok Airways will lease some A330`s to fill the gap till the A350`s deliveries. The will most likley start routing LHR-BKK, FRA-BKK and CDG-BKK winter 2009! Good for me here in Germany, because the old "price breaker" Royal Brunei stoped the FRA-BKK flights last September.

Have to agree with MrMango, clean, basic rooms. Pool is ok, but only about 4 sun lurkers. Girl friendly, but if you want to bring more than 1 girl back, the will charge a joiners fee. I would go back, but not for a 6 week stay. There are a couple of Beer Bars across the street from the hotel, so better take a room not oposing Soi 10 to avoide the noice.

... and on top, Boing is developing all there planes with crappy french CAD software. Maybe the good american patriots will start walking point to point , when they get aware of this fact.

I can only commend on Hotel Koenig. The Hotel is run by a German and will have mostly german guests. Hi, I did fly with them 2 years ago to BKK. TA is an okay airline. Planes quite new, service was good. My luggage wath checked trough, no need to re check in in Istanbul. Regards

For the pools, Areca Lodge is a good choice. 2 Large pools. Price range is between 1.100 and 2.000 depending on the room. But no ocean view. regards
