  1. Tahoe Bill: And, a more subtle way of putting it. Here's to you and here's to me. May we never disagree. But, If we do-to Hell with You, Here's to ME! Rockin'
  2. BIG D USA: Whatcha been drinking? LOL! Look again. This IS posted in the Airline Deals section. Rockin'
  3. I'm with you, Kidd you not! Love to see the Eagles upset the Pats. I will be rooting for them all the way. I was in Pattaya when my Oakland Raiders played Tampa Bay in the Super Bowl. Stayed up all night to watch it live, starting with pre-game at about 5:30 AM. There were two of us die-hard Raider fans still watching and getting drunk by the time the game ended and my beloved Raiders got their ass kicked by Gruder and his team. Will be at home for this game and won't have to stay up all night before the game. Damn, Wish I were in Pattaya so I could stay up all night again for the game as I got a nice BJ before I went downstairs in the hotel to watch the satellite feed and another when I went upstairs to my room. To me, those were the only good things about that particular Super Bowl! Go Eagles! Rockin'
  4. BigSmile: Thanks. Got it. Yep, there is no "pool account." I realize that you have to designate what SA partner carrier you want the miles to go to. I thhink that is what I said, or was trying to say originally? Who knows, maybe too many beers?Must have been on a different page at that time? But, what you just stated is how I also understand it. No matter what SA airline I book, I can designate to my "home carrier." And, that is what I have done in the past. Thanks.
  5. BigSmile: If I understand correctly, I can use my FF miles accumulated on all Star Alliance carriers, but with one particular SA carrier? In otherwords, I have FF miles with several SA carriers, but not enough with any one partner carrier to use then on their particular airline. You are saying that, for example, I want to book on Thai Air. I use my miles with them, then inform them that I have X number of FF miles on their partners United, Air New Zealnd, Singapore, etc, and give them my FF number for those carries, and Thai will honor and deduct and use those miles for my Thai flight? Hope not too confusing to answer? Thanks, Rockin' Jerry
  6. Big Smile: Please enlighten me regard Star Alliance. In the past I have been told by them that you have to desiginate a particular carrier when you are checking in at the counter, the air carrier of your choice, for the miles to go to. At first, I though SA was like a bank, that you could accumulate your air miles for any of their partners then use member carrier of your choice for later on. I had been told by both SA, and whatever member carrier that I was flying with that I had to specify a particular airline. So, if I was misinformed on more than one occassion, of if this is a recent change with SA, please inform me. Rockin' Jerry
  7. Almost a impossibility now from the USA as many airlines have consolidated with others to take their passengers. Too many airlines are cutting back and or failing. Since 9/11 I have found each and every flight I have taken full, or close to it. Domestic and International as well. Prior to 9/11 I recall my first flight to New Zealand and return home, Pleanty of extra seats to use. After, United quit flying into NZ and I recall a return trip where there were four airlines respresented on that flight. It was neat in the respect that most United (I think?) passengers were going to The Cook Islands which was not a scheduled stop with the original ticket for me, but was great to land and have over an hour to kill on the ground in their tiny airport. I think I was on Air New Zealand, or maybe Quantas? that trip. Anyway, here we were, the only large, commercial jet at the airport that night, and a chance to down a couple of cold ones at the terminal. Rockin' Jerry
  8. Yes. Same in USA.
  9. SoCalGuy: Have flown a lot of different airlines and all have been doable for me in Economy. I would have to say that Singapore was my favorite but the additional stop was a bummer. Especially on the return trip. Seem to recall it was a 3-1/2 layover in Singapore for the plane change to Tapei and then another change to LAX. Same going to BKK but a somewhat shorter layover in Singapore. LAX, Tapei, Singapore, BKK, going and coming. Made for a very long, full day of airports and flying. Too much for me to do again. I flew Japan Airline on my summer trip this year. First time with them and OK. But, what was good was that a Thai cabin crew had the leg of the flight from Osaka to BKK. Guess that is the norm. I got friendly with an Attendant and she was a real doll. Gave me her business card and wrote her personal hotmail address on it. Unfortunately, I had no plans to spend any time in BKK on this trip. But, This led me to believe that this was ordinary. Makes sense to me that these ladies would love to have a relationship with a farang. I know I'm good but refuse to believe that I am that good to get this"special treatment." Actually, not that much effort was involved in getting her personal address. But, for my personal reasons, I am not looking to date a "good lady." Not looking for a committed realtionship and have not even bothered to e-mail her. But, WOW! She was a doll. On second thought, maybe I will email her. LOL! I have done Thai, Cathay, China as well as the above. I look for the best deal and book accordingly. Some have better food and in seat TV but damn if I can remember which is which. So far, all has gone smooth. Rockin' Jerry Rockin' Jerry
  10. Bugs, meaning Cockroaches all over the place. I met a guy at my hotel this summer who had booked The Penthouse but moved out after 2-nights. Why? Cockroaches all over the hotel, his room, dining areas and Kittens Club. He talked me into going in to Kittens as he wanted to see if a lady he had previously met was working. On our way in and walking past the patio dining area, he pointed out several roaches scurrying about the tables. Then, while setting at a stage bar and watching the dancers, at different times we brought to each others attention the fact of roaches scurrying about. I don't know if this problem has been taken care of, and maybe someone will respond who has been there recently. Rockin' Jerry
  11. Rhino Yes, (spelled by the owner Steve) Lewiinski's is a great place to watch the NFL. It is located on Soi Pattayaland 1. Can't miss it as it has a silhouette of Monica smoking a cigar in the front window. The bar has A/C and friendly staff. It is also a hotel and restaurant so you can eat while you watch. No bar girls though, so bring your own if you so desire. Big screen TV at end of bar. Brings back memories of two years ago; sad memories. I stay at Lew's, as I call it, and after getting done doing my nightly duty and getting refusal of her to come down and watch the Super Bowl with me which was live feed on satelite starting at about 5 AM, I departed downstairs by myself. Can't understand why the little honey wasn't interested in the Super Bowl and would rather sleep than come with me to watch? LOL! Yes, it was my TEAM, the Raider's against Tampa. The Raider's got there ass kicked good, sorry to say. It was painful and only two of us die hard Raider fans remained at the bar to watch the entire game. Methinks I wa pretty drunk when it ended. Good, cold pints on draught with chilled glasses at Lew's. But, it wasn't far to stumble upstairs to my room and my little honey, who was happily watching her soaps, or whatever on cable TV. I was too depressed and too tired to do an afternoon delight and promptly went to sleep. Great place to watch the NFL! Or, to stay! Rockin' Jerry
  12. What the total cost of your ticket to fly Evergreen Deluxe? I have never flown Eva yet but have heard a lot of good things about it. Enjoyed the report!
  13. Mr Big Tatoo on Soi Pattayland 1, between 2nd & Beach Rd. Had a Hell's Angel check out his equipment and stated it was OK & sterile operation. Don't recall prices but certainly not bad compared USA. Been there twice. Satisfied. Rockin' Jerry
  14. Thanks Pete! I did the delete cookies and the last two attempts to log on worked. However, I did the auto remember me but still have to log on each time. No big deal as long as I continue to be able to get on board. Hopefully, no more problem! Jerry
  15. Just sent Pete an e-mail saying I could not get logged in even after the message showed me as Logged in and as a member being on board. Have had this problem for about a week now but always managed to Log IN after a few attempts. Today, it took about 10-attempts. How to fix/correct? Rockin' Jerry
  16. The Atkins Diet works for me! You can still push away from the table and have a full belly. Only thing is, I have to give up all the junk food that I really like. Bread, french fries, pasta, potatoes, potato chips, gravy, ice creme, etc. But, once I start I don't find it difficult as it is just changing your eating habits. When I sit around on my ass and gain about 15-pounds to 180 or more, I start the diet and Voila! I am back down to my good weight of about 165-pounds. And, most of the beer belly is gone. No longer Pom Pui! A lot of my friends went on it first and I saw the results. They, as I , still go on it when the weight creeps ups. There has been a lot of controversy on this diet, but more and more the medical establishment keeps coming around to say that it is OK. I would suggest that you talk to your physician first befoe starting on it. Rockin' Jerry
  17. Go with Big Dick on this one. Roland, why so cynical? So Terranova is out of the country right now, but soon returning. Why do you make a legitimate question complicated? With the few thousand board members on this board, isn't it possible that those that know and want to help could provide him with several leads and make his hunting a lot easier? Rockin' Jerry
  18. Vanilla: Unfortunately, this was where I first stayed on my first trip to Pattaya several years ago, and first trip to Thailand as well so I was a Real Newbie. While the hotel is nice enough, but it was-probably still is-geared for the family, I soon found out that they didn't want lady friends there. I hadn't unpacked my bags and immediately went across the street to get a cold one and the BG's ask, "Where you stay?" I pointed to the hotel and they said, "No let bar lady in." I went back and spoke to the General Manager. He said that they didn't allow BG's in but in my case the hotel would make an exception. Yeah, Right! I was to go to Reception Desk and pay a 500 baht fee each time I brought Lady to hotel. Also, that the lady would have to leave in the morning and could not have use of the restaurant or the pool. Being new, and really not knowing where else to go, and not really wanting to f**k with it, I went this route. Oh, the trials and tribulations of a Newbie! Wish I would have known about this Board or one like it back then! This was the only time I stayed North as much better action down south in town, IMHO. Every subsequent trip I have stayed in South Pattaya and only time I take a baht bus to go "partying" is when I go to Soi 6, 7, & 8. The rest of the time it is an easy 5-minute walk to Walking St. I haven't stayed at any hotel that requires a "joiner fee" as it is called, since that first trip, likewise in BKK & Phuket as well. Just ask, " Do you charge to bring ladies in?" Now, If you want to take your wife that is a different story. Rockin' Jerry
  19. 500 baht was what I paid last August, but it was a first class car, no clunker.
  20. For that time of year, High Season, I think your budget is way to low. I paid 850 baht per night at a nice hotel, close to the beach, and the same room goes for 1450 baht during the time you want to go. I think you will require some very good luck to find a hotel to your liking for the time & price you are looking for. Rockin' Jerry
  21. Pieman: Nope, as Pap described the hotel as he recalls the physical layout, it is the Top Inn. Reception to the left as you walk in, and elevator to the right toward the back. In any event, for a 1-night stay it doesn't sound like he could go wrong with either hotel. Rockin' Jerry
  22. You got it, you just described the Top Inn Rockin' Jerry
  23. Sounds like the Top Inn. I stayed at the Majestic last year but earlier this year found the Top Inn just a few doors down from Majestic, and it was cheaper, but a nice little hotel. Clean and all the usual conveniences, but no pool. Girl friendly. Top Inn, 128 Sukhumvit Rd. Phone 6568290-2. E-mail: top_inn@hotmail.com I was there for four nights in January this year and the room rate was 800 baht per night. From your description of the location, it sounds like the Top Inn. Rockin' Jerry
  24. I recently found out that Priceline.com now has listed fares and flight information that is in addition to you bidding; if you prefer. You now can book a listed fare if you want. Rockin' Jerry
  25. Andy: I would hang tight and keep checking prices. As stated, fares are normally lower in Sept. as "normal vacation time" is over. BA fare is way too high! I think you could safely wait until late June, early July to get the best fare. But, with the increase in oil prices a lot of airlines are already increasing their fares. Best keep this in mind, but keep checking. I have a buddy that wants to go to LOS with me in mid-August and he can't seem to understand that while it is low season there, that the airlines charge more money? Refer to above; still normal vacation time for a lot of the world. Rockin' Jerry
