  1. What is the name of the village that you are referring to Fatboyfat? Or did you assume that I am an expat rather than a tourist?
  2. That's cute Tom, but you didn't show how to get the village name from the moo number. Or at least I don't see it.
  3. I guess what I am asking is :given a moo number which represents a village, how do you get the village name from that number? MM, did you use google maps to get Nongprue?
  4. Ok, what is Moo 5? (that's what is in the example address)
  5. So Moo 5 is Naklua and Moo 9 is Pattaya? What are Moo 6, 7 and 8?
  6. I have yet to fully understand the street numbering system in Thailand. Here is an example. 159/173 Moo 5, Pattaya - Naklua Road, Soi 33 What do the numbers 159, 173, 5, and 33 all represent? also, how do I get rid of the green background above. It came in from the copy and paste of the address.
  7. Verizon appears to be the dominant carrier in the US and it is CDMA unfortunately. AT&T is GSM and they do offer pay as you go.
  8. The US uses a different set of GSM frequencies than the rest of the world. The phone needs to be quad band GSM if you want to use it in the US and the rest of the world.
  9. I wonder how much they have to pay just to open the doors of the HH airport.
  10. Here in the south people go to Carl's Junior (aka Hardees) more for the breakfast because their biscuits are freshly made. Does the on at Central Festival offer Sausage, Biscuits and Gravy for breakfast?
  11. Worst flight ever, ANA NRT-BKK. mothers with babies. babies kept each other crying at the top of their lungs. No turbulence but the noise made me sick. There was no escaping it. I actually went to the bathroom to escape the crying. I really liked the nonstop LAX - BKK on Thai Air in economy plus. Unfortunately that is no more.
  12. Where do all the freight only flights fly into currently?
  13. Is that the one north of central road and east of second road? not much around if I remember.
  14. Bob's BBQ made really good ribs. Hated to see him leave. Iv'e come to the conclusion that the Lone Star Texas Grill is intended to appeal to Brits and Europeans that want to try American food but that don't know what real American food looks and tastes like, Since the number of Brits and Europeans in Thailand way outnumber Americans, you can't blame the owner for the approach. Any restaurant in the US pushing minature wings would be out of business very quickly. I ordered some hot wings and they had no kick to them which is very surprising in Thailand but which tells me who they a
  15. One of the cheapest places to buy souvenirs is "Good Price Souvenir" located on 2nd road across from soi 7. Unfortunately they don't seem to sell thai place mat settings which all my friends go crazy over. Are there any other good places?
  16. The next recruiter that asks me why manhole covers are round is going to get an ear full.
  17. Stupid me for asking, but why don't you guys pay your bills online?
  18. Last yearI a stayed in a new hotel with a 40+ HD TV. The interesting part was that the hotel had a connector panel at the writing/computer desk with an HDMI sockey that was wired to the TV which was mounted on a different wall. The connector panel also had an ethernet connection but I searched the city wide and far before finding an ethernet cable. I had forgotten to bring mine. Ethernet may be out of style but wifi is completely hit or miss. Now the trend in new hotels appears to be placing the connector panel (with HDMI routed to the TV) by the headboard in an effort to promote m
  19. I wonder what the truck driver would have done if he had learned that the guy on the motorcycle was actually a detective trying to retrieve a stolen item from a known thief. Now in Ricktoronto's story, It was obvius who the real crooks were. Similiar situation in Costa Rica. A retiree on holiday snapped the neck of a thief killing him.

  21. I don't understand why it is so difficult to find good rooms in good locations in Pattaya. In Bangkok I have no problem finding nice new hotels with free breakfast for two and eggs to order for less than $70/night and I'm not talking about old hotels that have been reconditioned.
  22. Was wondering if anyone would notice :) Of course now if you are Japanese, you might call it an apartment.
  23. Looks like theyv'e modernized the TVs and put some cushions on the couch with enough padding. Does anyone know if they did anything about the bed mattresses? Never had a problem getting down the hill. Didn't know about the baht bus cueing at the bottom. Took a wrong turn one night walking back and ended at the big budda.
