I'm disappointed that the FAA ever left this plane off the ground the first time with Lithium Ion batteries onboard.
-
In his last e-mail, did he say what city he was in at the time or any plans? What was his plan for getting from Koh Tao to Bangkok?

Never Forget Value Jet 592 I am really disappointed that Boeing would do something this stupid.

Japan Airlines B787 fire at Logan Airport 7th Jan

Lithium batteries are prohibited in luggage for this very reason. -
I flew Eva Air for the first time. LAX-TAIWAN-BKK in executive economy B777. Here are my raw opinions. Other opinions are sure to differ. Executive Economy seats are almost equal to the same seats on the Thai A340 Service was friendlier on Eva than Thai, but service routine is better on Thai. For example, Thai gives everyone a bottle of water so that you don't have to page for it. You have to page for it on Eva but they do come running with one of those little glasses of water. Of course, try paging on American Airlines and they will kick you off the plane mid flight. The Eva food was awful, even worse than American Airlines. Heck, even AA economy gives you a hot towel before the main meal. Checked luggage gets check all the way through. Transfer at the Taipei airport was a super breeze. Going through security required no effort at all. The airport itself seemed to be fairly small and quiet. After landing the plane pulled straight up to the gate. If you gotta change planes to get to BKK, this is the place to do it. Eva hammered me for having carry on that weighed more than 7 kilos. They claimed it was an international regulation. I was forced to check my roller board which meant that I wasted money on paying for fast track at BKK. The on demand entertainment worked perfectly, but the content was a little dated. .

Too bad he doesn't have any smaller units. I would love to be able to travel with nothing but a laptop bag.

US Customs destroying person property without reasonable suspicion
short replied to short's topic in Airline Discussion
If that is the case, then how come they destroyed only one set of the mats and not all three that I had? -
Departure immigration was the shortest I have ever seen it at 1 PM on 2nd Jan, 2013. Nothing to be gained by paying for fast track on departure. You now go through security before going through immigration.

You are corrrect. The cost of packing and shipping the items was much more than I had expected and actually more than the cost of the items shipped. That caught me by surprise. The way that they work shredding the clothes at lax is how you would have done it if you were looking for drugs, not knock offs. But they still shreaded my place mats and put them back in the box with a customs letter attached to them. -

I highly doubt that the reed place mats I bought on beach road would be viewed as knockoffs. But yet customs shredded them. -
Last year I mailed souveniors back to me to save waiting in the luggage line at LAX. When the package arrived, several pieces had been carved up by US Customs. (left left their mark). Today when I came through LAX customs, agents were cutting up travelors clothing, shoes etc. I saw no sign of suspicion. If you must travel through LAX, don't bring anything of value.

I wish I could be there for the inaugural iced tea party, but I'm on my way back to the US. The black cloud continues to hang over me. Went to TR at 0045 New Years day to say hi to the owner and TR seemed to be the only business closed on Soi 7. Hope you catch you next year.- 15 replies

It is hard to find. Even the Jomtien motorbike taxis took me to the wrong place. Sam recommends that you call the place for directions.

After an hour sweat in the heat finally found Sam's place.Walked in pissed but that was quickly aleveated at the discovery of unlimited refills of perfectly made iced tea all for 50bt. Additionally, the waiter never let my glass go empty as is the way iced tea is properly served. Ordered wings that were spot on also. iced tea. AAA Food AAA Finding the place. D Sam did acknowledge that he was working the navigation problem.

Went back to TR yesterday to see if the Iced Tea was a one off. Left without an answer because I was unable to get waited on. After 15 minutes I left. Time was about 8 PM give or take an hour. The restaurant was busy, but they had time to bus tables so they could at least asked me if I wanted something to drink.- 15 replies

Made a surprise visit this morning to test the current state of iced tea at the PBG. I was getting worried that I would have to get a work visa because of constantly having to make my own in Thailand. But that seems to have changed now at the PBG. I asked for iced tea and I got iced tea with a lime wedge and a little bit of sugar already added. Now if you make tea from scolding water it is going to burn the tea and make it bitter requiring a tiny bit of sugar. The best time to add that sugar is when the tea is still hot which creates a delima on if to serve the tea with any sugar in it already at all. Saying goes that Admiral Zumalt would fire an officer if he caught one adding salt to food without tasting it first. I'm going to give an A-. To get anything better would require a proffessional restaurant tea maker. So now the Hobbit knows how his restaurant makes tea. Customer shouldn't have to be explaining that to the owner.

Tequila Reef Soi 7 Christmas Buffet Dec 24th All You Can Eat

Was there at 1140 AM waiting for the serving line to open. The food was excellent and worth every satang. The main course wa s so good that I didn't even last to the desert. The price was about 1/2 of what everyone else was asking for a xmas dinner also. The girls were glowing and looking cute in their little red uniforms also. Its only 7:36 PM at the time of this report. There may be some food left. Give them a call. Well worth it!! Will do again next year!! Food: A++ Drinks: A++ Iced Tea: D- Sorry, but have to give an honest oppraisal. The ice completely melted before the tea got cold and had way to much sugar. Ended up not drinking it.- 15 replies

I'm sure a can of Liptons at wholesale is a magnitude more expensive than a tea bag.
-
Many reasons but here is an easy one. If he doesn't at least review the ingredients of the meatloaf, how does he have any idea if it has been costed out correctly? Iced tea should be real easy to review.
-
dtyolmn, you missed the point I was trying to make which was that Pete told me that he doesn't know how iced tea is made at the PBG.
-
Still didn't answer my question about how iced tea is made at the PBG.

Hell, evven I got this joke.
