Nothing Microsoft does surprises me. It seems they will attempt to control everything by any means necessary. And yet, I continue to use their products.

I was a gold member and flew almost exclusively with China Airlines. In terms of price it is usually them or Eva with the cheapest price. Unfortunately, I am not able to go often enough now to maintain gold membership. I did fly business class last time by using miles. Flight attendants are friendly and nice looking. Their fleet is mostly modern. I will miss the Dynasty lounge. I would definitely recommend them as an affordable airline.

I get McAffee free with my DSL service. It detected instances of a root-kit but wasn't able to remove it. I tried Avast and it took care of it with the initial scan on boot. Now I use both. Avast is good.

I have stayed at the Natural Beach Hotel a number of times and it is a good deal during low season. If you are a butterfly it could get messy staying so close to the bar though. It would be Alaska except for the fact that some of the eskimo girls are pretty cute. They don't bare a lot of skin in the gogo's though.

Personally, I like to end my trips in Bangkok on Sukhumvit. (favorite is Nana hotel.) Meter taxi is not too expensive and doesn't take too long either.
