You'll have to book the entire hotel. Best include the buildings on either side and across the road to be sure. And never go to Soi 6.
-
And THAT, 4niceight, is what all the fuss is about. That and the meat.
-
Sorry about the accident, glad about the casualty rate. If your car is truly TU, you should (really, SHOULD) get out the Windows CD and start all over. Format the disk, reinstall Windows. It's tedious, but since you won't be going to work as planned anyhow...

In all my years in Thailand I have never heard Villa Market praised for the cooked meat section. Villa Market is roundly praised, and has been for 40 years for its fresh meat section, and its imported foodstuffs. It has supermarket-type stuff on the shelves that no other market in Thailand has. It employs western trained butchers using top Thai and imported meats, particularly beef. You may not like it, but that *is* why it is praised.

I've never heard of anyone making such a deal consciously but you are absolutely correct about the ownership being in the financier's name until the final payment. All a vehicle owner owns is the debt. In effect, you're leasing. Not a bad idea. It never occurred to me, actually. How right you are, that there always is a way.

In all of Thailand I have never heard a recommendation for a particular driving school. Just look for the shopfronts with massive numbers of traffic signs, walk in, see what they say, probably sign up.

Sorry, but I'm still not clear. Can they turn it off? If so, how? My tiny bit of research on this unique problem says you may have to reformat and reinstall everything, starting with Windows. Hard to believe that, but never say "never". On the other hand, there is no anti-malware program that catches all infections/infestations, let alone fixes them. When you run such programs, I recommend strongly you boot from nothing into safe mode, or better still into DOS mode depending on the program's capabilities of course. I recommend that you PHYSICALLY disconnect the Internet.
-
Can you expand a bit on this? You seem to be saying that this scum actually controlled your computer, and was able to turn off the pop-up?
-
Looks like you were pretty lucky here in not being able to buy what you wanted. This could be your turning point of karma. Please. Do NOT get McAfee, Norton, Symantec. They are tougher to get rid of, and cost much more than just going ahead and making the sex-line calls. There is brilliant free software to try before you spend money on anything EXCEPT THE THREE ABOVE. Spybot Search and Destroy http://www.safer-networking.org/ Spyware Terminator http://www.spywareterminator.com/ Comodo BOClean http://www.comodo.com/boclean/boclean.html SUPERAntiSpyware (Free Edition) http://www.superantispyware.com/

Probably this is what you have: Dot1XCfg.exe - Intel Network Connection Zlclient.exe - ZoneAlarm ctfmsn.exe - probably a Trojan infection from the Raidys family CFSServ.exe - Toshiba configuration E_5413S2.exe - dunno, looks like possible malware dropped file ApptEx.exe - possibly a malware dropper The last two I am not at all certain about in any manner but you need to check out them and your pet ctfmsn. Note that program NAMES are not always indicative. Any one or any software can change a name. "msn" is typically something associated with the cybersex aid from Microsoft, but "ctfmsn" seems to be a popular name for a malware infection.

BD, usually these are like what you'd call a 1-900 number, and it goes on the phone bill. You get to not pay your phone company, which is always a barrel of laughs, eh? theram, did you think of asking your best friend Mr Google about "mysexworld"? The Guardian has been on to this malware. http://www.guardian.co.uk/technology/2007/...logysection.it1 Some instructions here, although anti-spyware software like Ad-Aware and Spybot S&D is always your first line of (easy) defence. http://forums.moneysavingexpert.com/showth....html?p=5217012

Hello to all in wonderful LOS
joekicker replied to thaijay's topic in General Discussion about Pattaya
Thaijay! Welcome. I know how you feel, and that's why I live in Thailand. Hurry back. -
Change your money in Pattaya. Don't change more than a minimum ($50, say) at the airport. Change cash at a money changer's, not the bank, for a better rate.

Huh? I was commenting on his fact-free post, not his style. You may guess my age, but in return I'll guess you didn't read the thread. Just for the record, I really think comments on literacy and typing ability are ridiculous, small cheap shots, stupid and an almost certain sign the guy making the typos already won, going away. The only time I've ever made such a post in more than a generation was to make fun of the type. The person who doesn't make such errors in an Internet forum has got to be a rare bird. Personally, I've never seen one.

I never heard of them until recently. They sound great at first mention, in theory but the more I think about it, the more I don't want them. There are more than enough police around, and we don't need quasi-legals, foreigners at that, with (let's face it) little training and a lot of authority. From one local rag, the good: British visitor Geoffrey John Joiner says he owes his life to the FPV (Foreign Police Volunteers), based at Pattaya police station on Beach Road, after he suffered a heart attack in the toilet at the cops’ headquarters. http://www.pattaya2day.com/index.php?actio...ews&id=2378 The volunteers give up their own time for short training courses to bolster the 1,000 plus regular police force in Chonburi. They are shown here at a recent meeting in the Soi Bukao heath centre. http://www.pattaya2day.com/index.php?actio...ews&id=2338 And the bad I am not saying volunteers, Thai and foreigner, don’t do a worthwhile job – maybe they do, but I do wonder about their role, the parameters of their powers, their professional approach and their tactics, especially given the recent deluge of bad publicity Thai volunteers have had. Is there any oversight of their performance? Do they publish arrest/involvement/action lists? Are they performance reviewed? I would like to know answers to all these questions, and if I find them, I will share them with you. http://www.pattaya2day.com/index.php?actio...ews&id=2553

This may well be an excellent service, but a Honda Accord is not a limousine.

Humour is so... recyclable. First time I read this, it was "Bess and Margaret." Even fewer people will get that, I think.

Unless you have a specific reason not to, buy it in Thailand. The main reason is it will be set up to handle Thai language, which she will need. And of course she can always take it to the seller if she has a problem with it.

I realise that cheap shots at specific posters are mandatory in all threads before they become part of the Pattaya Talk Official Record, which has assumed primary global importance in establishing the Internet's credibility, but my very first advice in my very first post to the OP was to seek professional advice from specific professionals with expertise about the actual circumstances of his specific case.
-
You're not grasping what happened in this hypothetical case. The OP and TB got married in the US. (Hypothetically) they later got married in Thailand. They agreed to divorce in Thailand so the THAI MARRIAGE was overturned. The US marriage remains still on the books. In real terms, the Thai marriage and Thai divorce had no actual effect on their US marriage. Yes, yes, YES there are hundreds of other possibilities, but the above was the one under discussion.

Jacko, yes, better answer. He should have roughly one hour to get from airport to airport. Figure an hour to get out of Suvarnabhumi and a minimum of 30 minutes for Don Muang check-in. I don't think you can count on less than that, and it could even take more than an hour to get from wheels down-to-taxi at a busy time. Depending on time of day and weather, it could be very tight. Arrival at Suvaranabhumi at 4 p.m. would be iffy at best and I'd book a backup Udon Thani flight. Three toll stops, and no chance at all if you don't take all three toll roads (around 85 or 90 baht total).
-
There are a couple of nasty intersections you have to go through, and it's not entirely predictable. Except in a heavy rain at 5 pm, you probably will make a connection in 2:30.

Ranking: top restaurants - Pattaya
joekicker replied to jimmynewrider's topic in Restaurants and food
Most of the stuff on the street is very safe, because it is cooked on the spot well above the temp needed to whiff the parasites. The soup is boiled, the chicken is well cooked, etc. Anyone who looks for that kind of stall is very unlikely to have a serious stomach problem. You can get the xhits from other things, even by just a change in the water/diet, but you won't get seriously ill eating on Thai streets. I have had real food poisoning three times in quite a few years -- all three from very high-class expensive restaurants. They inevitably have some food that sits around and sits around -- and breeds thingys. -
Watching the buses pour out of the Ekamai bus station just while I'm waiting for one red light makes me believe they must be running every 15, 20 minutes during the day, maybe more often, to any given Pattaya station. A hell of a lot more often than 3 hours. It's almost like a city bus, these air-con runs Pattaya-to-Bangkok and return. I would guess 20 minutes but it's just a WAG. Like I say, make sure she checks she's on the right one, which goes up the Bang Na-Trat highway and will drop her at Central, on its way to the Ekamai terminal. Give them a call: 02-391-9829 for the air-con terminal.

Probably something pretty serious, starting with missing your flight and spiralling down from there. This would be a really, really bad idea. If you can't show you're in the country legally, then you are in the country illegally by definition. If you lose your passport, there is a procedure that involves your embassy, plus the police plus a trip to immigration to get a stamp in your new travel papers, whatever they are. Otherwise, unable to show that you entered the country legally, you are paddleless up the well-known tributary.
