Oof! That's gonna hurt. I was close to mesmerised by Barcelona, especially the first part of the match. They made ManU look like third-raters by keeping the ball away from them. I have not seen control of possession like that for a long time (it ended up statistically about 70 per cent, but seemed more like 90). The closest I've seen to that kind of control of the offence is a power play in hockey. And ManU did look, much of the time, like they had about eight men against 11, so utterly powerless were they to get a foot on the ball. .

Best game of the Cup, that Game 7. I still think the Bruins will take it. .

You should not exchange money with PayPal, just as you should not change pounds to baht inside Britain. Tell PayPal to send "x pounds" to your Thai bank. Then the bank will receive pounds, and exchange them to baht. .

Appreciate the answer. I've personally had good experiences with them - all smooth except once, when a call to customer service (in the US, at that, i.e. not an Indian) got everything straightened out in a morning. We all get the spam of course. I keep a tiny amount of money in there, and it has been useful to me on many occasions, actually - especially cross-currency stuff, especially smaller amounts. .

Interesting, thanks for the feedback/update. Darned if I know how else to do it from a distance. Send the money and let her do it, I guess. Mail with 20 dollars/euros in it, is that I'd try next, I believe. .

I didn't even know PayPal had a reputation. What put you off? .

They probably mean it but I doubt they could know. I'd certainly get out my Visa card (only) and try it. .

Bars close on election days?
joekicker replied to paulchung100's topic in General Discussion about Pattaya
By law, commercial sale of alcohol (except inside tourist hotels) is banned from 6pm Saturday until midnight Sunday, when Sunday is the election day. A pre-election is voting before a designated election day. The purpose is to allow people to vote, who know they won't be there on the actual election day. The official election day is July 3. I haven't seen the official announcement on early voting, but it's almost certain to be the week before, as stated in the OP. . -
In my opinion, this is the best thread on this subject, particularly the opening post. The OP was later printed in the Bangkok Post, in fact. .

My point was in the next 6-8 months, when people search. I just thought the same thing, actually. It looks ridiculous now. Originally, this went only in the profile. I think that's the only place it belongs. .

This probably will be a long thread with lots of opinions. The direct answer to your question is that "yes" you can mail a cheque to your account, BUT Thai banks typically take 30 to 45 days to clear/credit cheques. You can't use your money in that time of course. I'd look at other possibilities. You can go through PayPal, for example. .

I realise that the next New Year's Eve actually begins in the year 2011, but I think you'll find people call it New Year's Eve 2012. .

Airbus and Boeing products running behind schedule

Very well written LTGTR. I presume you're a professional writer. If you're not, you should be. This was a very well rganised and written report. . -
Maybe. But tell the truth, I think the game changer is, the Brew-ins go up 3-0 in Period 1 and go in the dressing room, yuck it up, get that "we can't lose now" feeling. Did you see Howard LAUGHING after the first goal he gifted in the second period? Yeah, really funny, Tim. No big deal at all. And I think the Brunes are the best team left. I think they go all the way. But that game was a gagger. To me, that hit wasn't Scott Stevens giving it to Lindros, not at all. .

This is a second coming. The Arabs were a HUGE market in Pattaya in the 1980s, and then the Saudis banned travel to Thailand. Back then, there was co-existence, much like on lower Sukhumvit in Bangkok. I don't even recall any run-ins or battles, let alone riots. There were Arab bars, there were non-Arab bars, pretty much. Even if they were geographically next to each other, there was no big deal about it. The discos were interesting - they went back and forth. The first big mostly-Arab disco was the Marine, and then it became un-Arab again. Thais don't get uptight about this kind of thing. They note it, comment on it, adjust as necessary. .

Total Beantown fold. After Period 1, the "experts" telling us how the Bruins would just coast to victory, it was a laugher. After Period 2, no laugher. It was a total fold. TB earned one goal, arguably none. They should have charged Howard for a ticket. Boston's defence may have been pretty bad over the final 35 minutes, but at least their offence was worse. .

Weather in end June- early July
joekicker replied to benny27's topic in General Discussion about Pattaya
It's hot and humid. It's not likely to rain every day, but often, around 5 or 6pm, there will be rain. Did I mention it's hot? When it rains, the only thing that can happen that's bad is that any steel implants you have might rust. . -
I'm not positive I have the hang of this - nor do I care beyond this thread - but it seems you can vote on every post the poster makes, and every vote goes into his rep. I think? .

New Government Health Warnings for Alcohol
joekicker replied to Captain_C's topic in Funnies Section
Thanks. Some of these warnings are really funny only because they are so close to what the nanny-state would force on us (and partly has). . -
Airbus and Boeing products running behind schedule

Qantas flight in mid-air engine shut down Qantas spokesman says: "We believe the cause is similar to events that other airlines are experiencing and is subject to an increased monitoring program from the manufacturer Rolls Royce." -
It's a stereotype, yep. But lissen up. Do you want to explain, for starters, how he got eight land title deeds? I don't KNOW but I doubt he did it by following Lord Baden-Powell's pointers for citizenship, guidance, happiness, health, life, men and women, purpose, and success. Show me a poorly uniformed troop and I'll show you a poorly uniformed leader. - Robert Baden-Powell .

Oh, I know that joke. It starts out: Cebual, an African and a Negress .... The punch line is: The Aristocrats. .

do you like the new format?
joekicker replied to pattaya_mad's topic in Technical problems or questions.
Yeah, I send out 125,000 emails a day and run 27 websites with a total of 8.7 terabytes of views per hour and it only costs me 52,000 baht a day. See how easy it is to make up numbers? I don't do any of that stuff, either. . -
The real answer is "it depends". Thailand is bureaucratic, so it depends how much pressure one part of the bureaucracy (national police, say) want to put on another part (Phuket police, say). Remember that in a bureaucracy, what goes around, comes around, so you can't fight every fight for freedom and justice. On this story, I'd just caution that pretty well all the land stories involving foreigners have NO victims, they're all people you don't want your daughter dating - the foreign scum and Thai mafia alike. .

Two things. The flags don't show. Presumably they are not in this folder: /forums/public/style_images/flags/ The other thing is a little subtle. When you do "view new content" on the new version, the posts you haven't looked at come up fine, quite good. But the old version let you get all posts INCLUDING the news ones, There was a button labelled "GO" that gave you posts for the entire day, unread and read alike. I'm still looking, but I don't see that sort of option on the upgrade. The world will still turn, but just mentioning it. .
