Beware of freelance stunners
joekicker replied to freeman69's topic in General Discussion about Pattaya
Learning experience for others. Second line "on their bike". They weren't girls. Right there was the error. Hotels don't bar Lao girls or half-Lao girls. They bar known crooks. There are lots of other warning signs, too. They got your money with a confederate who crept in or more likely reached through a wall, stole and stripped your wallet while you were otherwise engaged. This is an old, hoary scam. You deserve a lot of thanks for writing it up BUT if "two stunners on a bike" ride up, just say no. Always. No exceptions. . -
Saturday is the first anniversary of the beginning of last year's bunfight. The biggest (probably) red-shirt demo since then will be Saturday in Bangkok. .

is it safe to buy food from foodstands in pattaya?
joekicker replied to jackolson56's topic in Restaurants and food
Seems impossible to eat there on a regular basis if you avoid them unless you eat there on a regular basis. . -
Sweet and sour on arrival

Indeed!! A woman immigration officer is still on my must-do list. I've done a soldier with her uniform (mostly) on, though. . -
Fondles ferkri.... Oh, never mind. .

Yes, you can tweak CrapC almost any way you want. It is definitely worth a download, it is definitely worth having, and it is useful for everyone at some point. It will or will not remove all cookies, for example - you tell it which. .

Sure, but also prostitution, don't forget there was no prostitution in Thailand before the Yanks arrived - the (spit) GI Yanks at that. Powerful country, ain't it, going all over the world and starting stuff like restaurants and screw-for-pay and tipping? And uppity prixks, too, aren't they? Aren't you sorry now that you started it, Dr Frankenstein? .

Hmmm, so that's why the guy was so unpleasant last time I went through. Thanks, Mirk. Seriously - immigration people are very pleasant and constantly smiling - EXCEPT at airports. Better than you can say in the US, anyhow, where it's constant from top to bottom of the immigration industry. . -
I can beat that by 5 on this machine I'm currently using, but I have six that are current and actually used by Invision, on each of two computers I use frequently and checked yesterday. So I think six is the "real" number that the forum software serves up and actively uses for various purposes that may not be nefarious. .
-
The regular user here has six cookies from PT on his computer(s). I believe you'll find, jacko, that if you go to a totally different computer you've never used before, and that computer has never logged into PT, then you'll have to go through quite a bit of jiggering before you're synched up again. The program/forum reads cookies to identify you and synch your settings and recent readings. They may be old cookies. Without those cookies, it doesn't seem to know much except that you're a real user, once you give it name and password again. .

Why? Not why are you proud of it, but why would you think anyone cares? I do admit though that I'm fascinated by a thread where the salesman touts himself as far bigger than the product he's not even bothering to sell any more. It's kinda like one of those jerks as soon as you sit down in a bar he starts telling you about his CIA-MI5-KGB-blackops exploits, you know it's BS at the first word but he just won't stop digging his hole. Or starts telling you how incredibly rich he is from being so smart - as if you ever asked. .
-
Yeah, that's why the edit. Rather obviously it also keeps internal track of users. I could find out how PT works and if it has cookies, and maybe I will, but as I edited in, not now. Cookies in general are small text files that HELP you get around the web, and in and out of websites. It's actually hard to do it without cookies. Cookies in general do no harm, and aren't capable of doing harm, being tiny text files only. There are cookies that harm. If you are warned about a/some harmful cookie(s), it will be by software that also can get rid of them, so not to worry about details on this. "Cleanup" programs like CCleaner ask if you want them to remove ALL cookies. I always say no. I find cookies too helpful to start all over again with every site I go to that uses them. Others will have different opinions about this. .
-
They are small TEXT files, most cookies - and most cookies are good. Cookies are what brings you back to Pattaya Talk where you left off last time, for example. edit The above is an example of what cookies can do and what they do do. I've never even checked if this forum has cookies - most do. .

The OP troll aside, AIDS and TB go together like a horse and saddle. AIDS is the usual "cause" of TB in Thailand, in fact. Of course, you really wouldn't know you had either/both unless they were diagnosed in the first place. Yes, indeed, even a Thai sis-in-law without money WILL get treated for AIDS and/or TB. Not an imaginary one, of course, but all the real ones will. .

That was the official story. Randy still sticks to it, but I know he has his fingers crossed behind his back. .

I think he meant this. With your retirement visa, if you leave Thailand for any reason - holiday, whatever - you must have a RE-entry visa in order to get back in and continue using that retirement visa. If you just leave, the retirement visa is effectively cancelled, you have to start all over. A re-entry visa from immigration is 1,900 baht for one out-and-back, and 3,800 for a multiple, use as many times as you wish during the current (one-year) visa. Do NOT leave Thailand under any circumstances without getting a re-entry visa. .

And there was you, claiming soccer is boring. Although I do think that hitting a bird in flight with a thrown ball like Randy Johnson did is a hell of a lot more challenging than kicking a sitting owl. .

is it safe to buy food from foodstands in pattaya?
joekicker replied to jackolson56's topic in Restaurants and food
Quite right, and I've been sick 2 times from big restaurants and never from street food - which is only a personal answer. But the answer to the actual narrow question is "yes" - otherwise people would be sick and dying all over Thailand, where street food is by far the most common food. Your advice is good - food that has been JUST deep fried or JUST boiled or JUST (properly) stir-fried is as safe to eat as food ever gets, anywhere. . -
So would I be. In fact I am in disbelief. Obviously the online friend was a person or he wouldn't have lost any money. Is this story a trick entry form for the Turing Test Contest? .
-
To be pedantic, it's not Thai banks, it's an association that runs the actual ATMs. Of course the banks are involved but they are not the actual ones charging, and they do not receive the gelt. .

Bringing a Bargirl to my country. Good or bad idea
joekicker replied to roorsoldja's topic in Idle Chit Chat
Probably an immigrant. Still, he is correct to a fault. . -
It's not all that bad a business, loan-sharking like your gal does. Usually, loan-sharks like her will lend to friends, friends of friends or people who give her some guarantee, often land. Keeping the business local, personal and fairly small, she can keep down the rates AND almost always get paid. There's always a lot of chasing and sob stories, but it's nice work in general. The big loan sharks are ruthless in all ways, starting with 10 pct a month. .

That's a cheap loan? That is not a cheap loan. .
