I must also add my endorsement for the excellent service provided. For something a little different, our pick up was from a lesser known BKK hotel and Jan was there an hour early and was happy to wait as we had arranged for a third person to meet us at the hotel for the trip to Pattaya. Return trip was from from the Areca to Bkk airport and again Jan arrived half hour early and was happy to go out of the way to take us via Walking St so G/F could drop some things at her room. Thanks again for the great service. Steve

Hey Greg, I was going for red - hope we don't clash Looking forward to catching up again. Steve

Hey Duece, It is a little difficult to have anything in the trophy cabinet when our competitors will not part with the trophy even after we have won fair and square (e.g. the Ashes for around 100 out if the last 125 years) Enjoy while you can - the World games out here over the past few weeks are showing how good your boys are away from their own dungheap. I do hope a similar fate will not await the Dhaka Dongers and that the inaugral trophy will be handed over after we wipe you Imperialists off the face of the earth.
-
Dungheap, Count me in for sure. A better bunch of honorable gentlemen one could not wish to team up with. Also noted that our hero Ranjit Punting has won the toss four out of four since returning from the Imperialist pig sty. Makes you wonder whether those dastardly Poms were fixing the toss.

Saigon, Likewise M'8. Sorry you cannot make it this year. Will miss our little friendly confrontations whether they were on the golf course, bowling green or pool table. Hope all goes well with your recovery and that we can catch up again next year. Steveo

Still only one official entry for the Texas scramble event - Duece, English and Pieman. They will be hard to toss particularly if English is the scorer. Fair chance that after the cricket tonight there may be a second official entry from the Bangladesh team although this may leave the Aussies a little short.
-
Duece, Very clever Not sure how you produce these but I think you need to check the software magnification. Certain parts of the anatomy bear no resemblance.
-
Grendel, Actually I do like the idea of the 3 way challenge between English Patient, Pieman and Doghaus and far be it from me to even think that that there may be some trickery involved on your part and/or Team USA. However, there is a major problem with the timing. I am sure that you would want to be present at this momentus occasion but unfortunately if held on the eve of the Rideher Cup you could not attend as arrangements are in place for you to be otherwise engaged that evening. Next idea. Steveo

English Patient, Play golf with you every day - you must be kidding - we Aussies still have some self esteem. You are a newbie to this Board and in only your second post choose to insult our revered organiser Doggie. Maybe I am being a little bit hasty here - tell you what, I will give you a chance to redeem yourself. As a self-proclaimed English gentleman who tends to cheat a little you will be aware that the Melbourne Cup horse race is to be run on 1st November this year. You would not be aware that my finances are a

Well what do you know - another fine upstanding Englishman joining up. Sounds like a country gentleman - I wonder what part of England he is from. I have heard rumours in the past that these pommie gentry appreciate the finer things in life and also like their porn. Welcome Mr English Patient

Matt, Great news that you will be back again this year but I notice that things have not changed over time - bribery and corruption still part of the American tactics. However, I would have thought that you would know better than to attempt these sorts of tactics on Pieman and, after all, things have not changed with the American team retiring around 9:00 pm on the eve of the event in preparation leaving the Euros to prop up the bar until the early hours of the morning. Duece, Consider my mission accomplished. Steveo

Doggie, Count me(and non golfing partner) in too. Will send PM to you in the next day or two. Taxi, Re partners - IMO depends on location. For me if it was Khankanburi I would probably recommend taking a partner but for Chiang Mai not so sure. Don't know the place but have been lucky enough to have experienced Doggies organisational skills in the past and not sure if there is value in parting out an extra airfare and then being unable to fully utilise his planning. On this occasion in my case it is unavoidable though. Steveo

Naccre, Mistys have their annual tournament in August. If you go to their website you will find the details. Steveo

Doggie, My preference would be by plane even if it has to be in the cargo hold with my Bangladeshi buffalo for company. Cheers Steveo
-
Doggie, I think you are being a little harsh on the Aussie cricketers. After all, the result you refer to was shortly after their arrival in the U.K. and before they had a real chance of settling into their normal training regime of going out on the piss and shagging English women. You will note that now they are fully in training, the results have dramatically improved. Steveo

Doggie, Not fussed either way. "Up to you". Steveo

Doggie, As Dungheap said the programme looks great to me. My current plan is to arrive 29 October and hopefully get a little golf practise in before the two big events. Re Chiang Mai, my preference would be by bus with the halfway stopover however, after the fateful events of 26 April, I am committed to bringing a partner on the trip. I was also thinking of shooting across to Phuket for a few days (9th to 12th November) for a short break from the Pattaya scene and maybe some others may be interested in this. I believe there are direct flights to

Airline baggage allowance re golf clubs
steveo replied to stoace's topic in RideHer Cup Planning and Discussion
Stoace, I cannot specifically advise about Thai Air but would assume that all airlines treat golf clubs the same way. Singapore, Qantas and BA do not even weigh the clubs and they are not included in your baggage allowance. Because of this I always stuff as much as I can into the golf bag as it is an easy way of getting more through if you are close to the limit on your normal baggage. Steveo -
Just returned from 10 days in Pattaya and stayed at the Nova Park. One bedroom suite for 1500b per night. Would thoroughly recommend this hotel. No problem even with multiple guests and has a great Irish pub (Jamesons) on site. Very good sized rooms and bed, in room safe and nice swimming pool and very quiet. Only drawback is that it is a little off the beaten track.
-
Alan, I am afraid that I am unable to answer your questions at this point in time. As you would probably be aware the dowry asking price by Thai families for their virgin daughters is extremely high. As a means of financing this payment we have approached the world press and television moguls offering exclusive rights to the event. Unfortunately their response to date has been a little disappointing but we believe this is because all of their resources were tied up with the Royal event that took place in your neck of the woods last week. However, we expect the mega baht

Hub, Under normal circumstances an apology would be forthcoming but, unlike some on the trip, Doggie and myself had suffered two nights off the nest and there are certain priorities in life that must be taken care of - in this instance looking after our needs for later in the evening in Bkk. In any case I would have thought my assistance to your scorecard on the 18th would have more than compensated for the untimely mobile call. Seriously, I am really looking forward to catching up with you guys again in November and I am sure it will be a real blast again. Ste

Doggie, I fear the trip to Chiang Mai my be your greatest challenge yet. Looking at some of the participants noteably Big Kev, Fornicator and Big Brian (the latter I do not know but from his handle assume he may be of similar stature to the other two) you may need to get hold of a Hercules from the Thai aiforce.

Just heard on the way in to work that Billy Caspar is 25 over after 10 - had a 14 on a par three. Now that is my kind of golfer. :crying

Doggie, As the only participant with a perfect record after three events how could I miss. Steveo

Have a look at Jetstar Asia - they fly direct Singapore to Pattaya.
