I have stayed there for the past 8 years or so and have never seen singles pushed together.

I was in Siem Reap years ago (10?) and got a bus to Bangkok then for much less. It was a minibus in Cambodia which dropped you at the border crossing. You walked over and then got on a large air aon bus to Bangkok. This soul des much better since the minibus was a kidney buster.

The briefings I was referring to was to ensure they know the ins and outs of the bars here. I.e. there is NO cover charge. If someone is charging, it is a ripoff. Most sailors figure out the liberty system real fast and are well behaved and just looking to have a good time. It is usually the non military 20 something's running around with no shirt that start the trouble. Most sailors are in before midnight anyway so no issues with the late discos.

I had an even worse experiance on a trip back from Koh Larn. Picture a FAT Russian lady, a Muumuu and a red thong. She slipped at the top of the steps to the upper deck and went flying with legs wide apart and the thong doing nothing. I was 3 feet from her and thought she would sink the boat. I couldn't get an erection for weeks....

15 would be a slow stroll. You can easily beat the baht busses between 5 and 10 pm.

The Navy will behave. Too many consequences if they mess up. I just hope they are properly briefed. One trip here, the touts and doormen were running a scam and charging sailors "cover charges" to go in with he promise of first drink free or other discounts....which inside were not heard of. 100 baht or higher with groups adds up fast. A friend tried to help a group by telling them there is not such thing and was aked if he wanted to die.....

The road has gotten noisier due to the double lanes each way. Buses and other vehicles making a ton of noise due to non existent muffler systems and blaring loudspeakers make relaxing by he pool a bit challenging. Sleeping is not a problem with the rooms on the back side. Still a good place to stay though. View from room 301.

Just made my reservation for January 22nd to Feb 22nd. Delta has under $1000 now for T class excluding Fri/Sat.

I routinely bring back cheese to the US from Amsterdam. I declare it every time and have never had it taken from me. They only ask if it is "hard cheese". Edam and any of the wax covered cheese's are fine and I they pack well in the suitcase. Never tried carry-on since I get several types and it is easier to just toss in the checked baggage.

Actually it was a hotel association that paid. Most hotels (Residence garden being one of them) was not a member so it was out of my pocket.

This trip I paid $1086 SEA-NRT-BKK and back. It took a lot of searching to get this fare on Delta (Diamond level so I fly them). I did all kinds of what-ifs. What if I leave on different days. Longer stays, shorter stays........ Most times, I was in the $2000-$3500 range (couch fare) I found some cheaper but via Detroit or 9 hours ini LAX. Finally hit on a leave Friday 27th and return Saturday 26th (givinig up Sun.Mon in Thailand). It was the hardest I ever worked to get a ticket here.

An American was travelling in England writes back to his friends. Last week I was in a pub and heard two ladies talking. After a while I walked up to them and asked "Excuse me ladies, I heard you talking, are you Scots?" One of the ladies turns and in a rather arrogant voice says we are Wales. Being Diamond in the Delta program I seldom get bad seats on KLM. However, I have seen them tell people to move back to their original seat on numerous occassions.

I was by Big C when the wind started. It was blowing so hard, you had to dodge the trash to survive. Beach road sand was so bad, it was hard to see. I did make it to Cherry bar before the rain hit at around 10:20(if the clock on my camera is correct). A few power hits which just stopped the music for a few seconds but power stayed on. Even the streets were deserted There was only one sensible thing to do After the storm, I headed down to Beach where there was considerable water on the road.

Kind of hard to rectify things after the fact. I have eaten there numeous times with the last time being this evening. There was a period when things were slow but Pete has solved the issues.
