Do you mean Bangkok or the airport? Bangkok you would need to arrange a taxi. Like MM said, this is best done ahead of time. Search for Mr. T taxi here, he, well actually his company, has a good reputation. If from the airport, at that time it is fastest to also get a taxi, not really need to prearrange but for the best price it is also helpful. There is also a bus service. It does leave in the morning though (0700 maybe) and not at midnight.( https://www.belltravelservice.com/pages/PageHome.aspx)

So far I have seen several comments on the shisha…ALL negative. several people, including myself, have indicated that the sight of that would keep them from entering. The 2 or 3 customers a day that use it are probably not attracted there because of it. Since you are around Soi 5, it is not an area full of customers whose lives revolve around that. At least I hope things in that area haven't changed that much since my last trip,

"smoking shisha at our relaxing beachfront bar in front of the shop" First feedback…….any place I see shisha I would not go to. No way would I get a massage if I had to put up with the stench of smoke.

I have scheduled trips to need the extra day twice. First time was by accident the second time because the flight was $200 less. Both times they saw that I was over 1 day and sent me to a small table. Quick stamp and on my way. First day is free (be sure and count the arrival day as 1 even if you cleared customs at 11:30 PM). On the second day you pay for every day (including the first "free day") you are over.

I have posted coordinates for darkside and the BJ places before. It would help to have a section where they could be located to make them easier to find

There is also the Wat, radio tower and overlook on the other side of the road. Great views of Pattaya from there.

Pattaya Beer Garden now accepts Bitcoin
ttk replied to PattayaPete's topic in Bars/Gogos/Business Owners' Forum
I am new to BitCoins but looking at a chart I searched for, it looks like they are HEAVILY speculated. Looks like computer trading by experts is controlling the value. It fluctuated between 25,000 and 5,000 in one month? Am I missing something??? -
Getting medical records from BPH
ttk replied to nkped's topic in Doctors, Dentists, Clinics and Hospitals
I came down with pneumonia once and went to Pattaya memorial hospital. They did chest x-rays which I asked for to take home for my doctor to look at. No problem getting the film , but once home, they said it was exposed so badly that it was worthless. -
If possible, wait until you have the new passport, I recall correctly, the Visa in the old passport will not , or at least require extra effort to, transfer to the new one.

Pattaya is full of people whose only goal during this time is to cause as much damage as possible. i,e. Aim for the face with the water cannons (always banned but still very common) or blast motorcycles to see if they can knock you over… ALL great fun for the wankers. Once you get out of Pattaya, the fun gets back to the traditional Thailand version. Water is thrown, but it is all in fun. I was out in the country once and it is an entirely different experience. To get away from the insanity, you could try to be in small towns..anywhere but Pattaya.

Beach Rd. dangerous after 2:00 am?
ttk replied to streeteats's topic in General Discussion about Pattaya
Don't wear expensive gold (or even fake) jewelry or you could be a target. Don't walk down the street talking on an iPhone 5s, oblivious to your surroundings. Don't pull out a wad of 1000's from your wallet. I keep mine well placed in a front pocket. Don't try to break up a fight between a lady and her boyfriend. They will both turn on you . . . i.e. don't look or act like a target and you will be fine -
Walk around Bangkok at look at all the unfinished buildings from the 90's .

Disagree with what??? I was pointing out that helmets are required or 400 baht fine. The ones that come with the bikes are chaep plastic and are usially way too small, at least for me. I have NEVER been offered a Snell approved helmet in Pattaya. Please enlighten us...where do you rent from to get the Snell approved helmet? -

Rental rates for small bikes short term run around 150 a day. If you go longer term, (2 weeks), I have gotten them around 120 a day and even 100 as a repeat customer low season. Bike places are all over and I doubt you would get ripped off at most of them. I stay at the residence garden so use the shop across the street. He has bikes out front and also has a small restaurant. I have also used the shop on second road at soi Pattayaland 1. There is 7/11 there and next to RC clinic. Place is called Lynda..but run by her daughter. Make sure you have a helmet that fits you, even though the he -
Soi 8 is a walkable distance. However, there are baht buses (pickup trucks with bench seats) that run for 10 baht a trip anywhere from South Pattaya road to North Pattaya road. If you are at Walking Street going to Soi 8, you will have to walk to 2nd road (1 block away from the beach at the Walking Steet sign) and catch a bus since the 2 main North/South roads are one way.

The latest BS the airlines are going to is to add a dollar amount spent. Delta now requires 25000 miles ( or a bunch of short segments) AND $2500 spent on tickets. 50000 /$5000. Gold. 75000 / $7500 Platinum and 125000 / $12,500 for diamond. As an added insult, the TAX portion does not count....but bagage fees and better seat fees do. LOL. Using miles has no bearing on status... but you do need to qualify each yaer.

Buying a "big shirt" in Pattaya
ttk replied to gus in cebu's topic in General Discussion about Pattaya
100's of tailor shops that should be able to custom make a shirt in 2 days… -
I recall the pedestrian crossing put in a while back. They were put in place to "help" pedestrians cross Beach and Second roads. Since they were nowhere near roads with cross traffic they were death traps just waiting to catch someone. Cars and especially motorcycles would ignore the red lights. For those foolish enough to stop, I was one, the traffic behind you would almost rear-end you as they would try swerving to pass you. Any traffic next to them made for a very interesting event. Lucky they are now inactivated ….

Loy Krathong they were officially "banned", at least the papers said they were. However, no one bothered to read that.
