Price depends alot on the material you choose. I have used Michaels (sp?) on beach road. They have been there at least 12 years since I recognize the same staff and owner so must be doing something right. Only problem I had was the first ones I bought shrank.... but only in width over 10 years As others have pointed out though, the are cloth stores and all the tailoring is done in back soi sweat shops. Go for several fittings and ask for spare buttons to be sewn in the jacket and shirts so you will have a match if one breaks

Possible to rent an boat from Pattaya to Koh Chang?
ttk replied to panenggai's topic in General Discussion about Pattaya
Checking my handy GPS and google earth: Bali hai Pier is at 12 55.181N and 100 52.315E The hotel I stayed at on Koh Chang is 12 2.043N 102 17.558E That would make the trip around 230 km. Nnot sure the cost but would have to be a fast boat to make it in a reasonable time. -
I am booked for May and no deposit was asked for so i would guess this is a xmas/new year thing.

Any bus service after 6pm from BKK airport to Pattaya?
ttk replied to Angelo02's topic in Transport in Thailand
Heading to Bangkok at night is fine IF you have a reason to go there. Heading there just because the buses have stopped is not . The taxi to Bangkok will be a few hundred baht and around 30 minutes. The bus fare the next day will be another 100 baht or so and you would still have to get to the bus station with your luggage. The taxis operator mentioned will charge around 1000 so maybe $20 more to go right away. The other issue would be traffic. Not much at10 PM so the trip could be as short as 1 hour to Pattaya. Leaving Bangkok in the morning will hit Bangkok traffic leaving and could take much longer -
"a little away" is just what I look for. It is VERY easy getting to walking street / second road with a baht bus ride. Getting back takes some time since you usualy have to get off the bus at south pattaya and second road and queue by south Pattaya road for a bus heading up the hill. Walking is not bad and the exercise is good for you.

I stayed there 1 time several years ago so my review may not be current. I would say 2-3 star at best. The rooms were setup in a brothel style with toys and accessaries around and available to buy. The key chain provided had several extra keys on it. I figured out one went to the handcuffs in the room but never did figure out what all of them were for. It is now in an area that has become an extension of boyz town.

I have also done the sidewalk thing a few times with varied results. They seem to be Bangkok taxi's needing gas money back after a trip from the airport. Several times it became obvious they did not know their way around Pattaya. I have had to have them talk to reception at the Residence garden just to find the place. One time I had a driver cruising past the dolphin roundabout and heading way north before finding the main road. Another time I fell asleep on the backseat and woke up on the floor when the driver made a sudden stop and turn. After those trips, I have spent the extra 100-200 baht to get a local driver.

I have booked flights with Delta (and northwest before the merger) many times and they have never asked to see the card I used to pay for the ticket. Just want to see the passport. Maybe different rules USA to Thailand.
-
I thought the only phrases you needed to know were A large beer and my friend will pay --- Where is the bathroom --- Is your daughter 18 ---
-
I had a 31 day stay once. For ONE day, they just sent me to a small desk right after the passport checks. They just stamped the passport and initialed the stamps. For one day they did not charge but if you miss by two you will pay for both. When I leave (Delta to japan) there is never a line and it was very quick and painless.

I went to Cambodia several years ago. I flew into PP and stayed there 3 days which is enough time to see the sites (killing fields, palace and the now defunct K11?). I then took the boat up the river to PP for 4 days there. Angkor Wat is a huge area and will take a few days to see. Just watch out for food and ice in the drinks. Catching a stomach bug will mess you up . A bus back to bangkok was only a few bucks but not much going on during the hours in Cambodia. At the time, it was a minibus on VERY bad roads. Once at the border, they switch you to a tourist bus for the remaining trip. It was nice to do, but spending a day on a bus during 2 weeks is probably not worth it.

I do recall that one too , but it still would not be "next to" anything on soi 15.
-
This link is not asking 1,000,000 baht and describes it as "Located at the famous walking street south Pattaya. Ground floor with second floor lounge. Just beside McDonald's" closest McDonalds would be before walking street entrance. I do not recall one on soi 15

Tom Shane injured in bizarre accident in Bangkok hotel
ttk replied to short's topic in Funnies Section
From the "Dead Serious News" http://www.deadseriousnews.com/?p=1321 How about citing the source ... Dead serious News is not ne of the worlds major aourecs of news. The dateline is 1 October and he is updating his site http://tomshanesworld.com/ on the 21st. -
There are actually two procedures that are commonly used. A Sigmoidoscopy is the minimally invasive examination of the large intestine that only looks at the the last part of the colon. If you were awake, this is probably what you had. A Colonoscopy covers the whole path...what people I know call the "fantastic voyage" for this you would be knocked out.

Delta has announced an advisory for flooding in Bangkok for travel dates 22-31 Oct.. Advisory: Flooding in Bangkok. Flooding in Thailand is expected to impact travel to, from, or through Bangkok. Visit the full advisory for more information. Last Updated: October 21, 2011, 10:30am EDT (-5 GMT) Doesn't say it WILL happen but they are allowing no cost changes now
-
Does this mean you will triple the price? Just like ladies, 1/3 the customers triple the price. As a side note, I noticed that Delta is waving change fees for flights to bangkok until 31 October. Now I am not as pissed off that I had to change my normal fucation in Oct/Nov to last Sep.

If your plan is to move to retire and move to Thailand, I would stick with Thai gold. That can be sold at any shop whereas gold coins could be hard to get rid of.

That alone will keep me out of the place. The last thing I want to see in a gogo is some drunk farang strip down and jump in.

For a out of town trip, I went to the Dolphin World and Resort south of Pattaya. The place just opened and only the Doplphin show is complete. In fact, the food court still has only 2 of 10 stalls open and the furniture is still wrapped. The Dolphin show is 45 minutes long. They advertise it as the only one in Thailand but the Sanctuary of Truth in north Pattaya has (or at least had) one. The website for this place has the Thai and English flags to change the language but either one gave me the Thai page. The addmission was 195 baht (or so on the web page) but once there, they have the two tier pricing. 195 Thai and 500 if not. This alone makes me NOT recommend this place. I have no problem with Thai/Falang pricing for Thai cultural sites like the palaces and parks, but this is a commercial venture. I suspect this pricing had alot to do with there being only 2 falang amongest the 30 or so visitors on the Sunday I wass there.

I was over on the darkside yesterday to check out some of the bars. My first stop, after hitting an ATM which comes into play later, was the Pussy Cat Bar on Soi Nurnplubwan. The last time I was there was several years ago and then it was an open air setup with some nice ladies and a few ladyboys who left you alone. Now it has been changed to a closed bar/restaurant. I stayed for 5 beers and ladydrinks with the bin coming to 520 baht. I opened my wallet and grabbed one of the 1000 baht bills from the ATM and handed it to the lady. She took it and said 20 more. Without thinking why, I handed over another 20 baht and waited for the change. The lady came back and I tipped her one of my 2 100's. After several minutes, she said shewanted to go eat. I asked for my change and was told I only gave her 520 baht. Now there is always the possibility that I could have been mistaken BUT I almost always check the bills I hand for payment (since I have messed up 20's and 1000's late at night in da rk bars before). However, the stop at the ATM guaranteed I had nothing but 1000’s (and the 2 100’s and 6 20’s before the stop). There were no 500’s in my wallet. I know the advice given here…state the bill value as you hand it over and have them repeat it. I guess the asking for 20 more should have clued me in but it did not. Live, Learn and warn others.

Perhaps it is in reference to how long it takes to finish.

This is my secret site for low fares. www.thaifly.com I have gotten great prices from them and never a problem with tickets or extra charges. Last year or so they were not cheaper then the airline site. Then again, I fly Delta exclusively since I am Plat there and get good seats.
