Just a couple of comments. 1. Full social security for those born after a specific date (don't know that date as I don't qualify for SS) is greater than 65. 2. Regarding LOS inflation. My first trip to Pattaya was in 2001 and while I don't deny that LOS has experienced inflation, I haven't noticed. Practically all my costs in baht are less than my first trip as I've learned to shop around, find better deals, and learned the score. Eating home cooked food that is either grown or raised in LOS is a fraction of what one pays when eating out. Each trip I've made, my accomadations cost was not only less but better. Ones shagging cost should go down drastically unless your lazy. You don't have to go to a bar and pay BFs and LDs to meet TGs as they are everywhere and now one has more time than money to look around. Also regarding ones shagging cost, very few punters will be shagging at the same frequency when they are in their 70's as they did in their 50's, so that's a cost that should decline. Find a live in and that cost will be reduced immediately.

Some hotels give significant discounts for stays of 3 weeks, especially during low season. You need to deal with the manager as the front desk clerks don't have the power to negotiate rates. Also some hotels have monthly rates, the last 2 that I stayed in the monthly rate was 10 times the daily rate. Usually the monthly rate does not include water and electricity and housekeeping may only be weekly or bi monthly.

I'm looking for health insurance for TGF here in LOS. I'll be posting of another board and once I deternime the best plan I'll post here my choice. I leave tomorrow early AM and plan to return early July at which time I'll take action.

I went in there last week with the former monger Sateef and his TGF and the place is very impressive. It appears that Party has cut the salaries of the dancers as they can't afford to wear any underware. The only negative that I could see is that the toilet is upstairs and could pose a problem for those that have had to much to drink. I would recommend that those should get a BG or two to assist them up the staircase.

What health insurance plan would you guys recommend for a TG. I'm covered by my plan in the states but would like to have my TGF covered by a plan in case she were to get ill or be involved in an accident. I've been with her for over 3 1/2 years and know I couldn't ignore the situation if she were hospitalized. Not looking for most expensive nor the cheapest. TIA Emil

I believe that Life is owned by Tony.

You didn't say when you were flying. Prices always go up in the summer months as schools out and families are taking vacations plus you have many Asian students flying home on their vacations. Probably the cheapest flight from Vegas to LAX would be on Southwest, they usally have special fares posted for internet users that appear on Tuesday and close on Thursdays.

Sandyspring vs Areca lodge vs Pasadena lodge
Emil replied to syed's topic in Hotel and Accommodation Questions
Steve, I think they have 3 room sizes. They lower their prices in April for the low season so they may be more competitive now. -
Sticky and Geoff, The place is north of Pattayaklang not far from Soi AR if your familiar with the area. Look at the bottom of this page or on the next page for contact info as I posted about some apartment vacancies a few weeks back. This place is more for long time stays so if your trying to book the place for a month and its in the future your probably going to be out of luck as they don't operate that way. You would need to be there to book now or very soon. There are many options if you get out an about. Most of these places are between Soi Buakaow and an imaginary line north towards North Pattaya Rd and Sukhumvit. Many place just a few meters north and south of Pattayaklang on the many small sois off that road.
-
The big difference with these types of places is that you pay for the utilities and don't get housekeeping. I'm in an apartment that is a 1 bedroom, approximately 55 sq meters plus 2 large balconies and cost me 12,400 for the month of May which included my utilities. It came furnished and opened this past September and is located between Soi Buakaow and 3rd Rd north of Pattayaklang. Look around as there are many options.

As I was walking down Soi 7 today I noticed the Flipper House banner which had their usual summer special listed. Stay 4 nights, pay for 3. Stay 7 nights, pay for 5, and stay 14 nights and pay for 10.

They didn't put me in a different class that I'm aware. I have only transfered funds from my Pattaya account to my TGF account which are both here in Pattaya. She gets hit with charges when she tranfers funds to her folks account in Korat and to her sister's account in Bangkok. I get all my funds from my credit union in California where I'm not charged any fees when I make ATM withdrawals as long as I'm using an ATM with the correct logos.

As I was walking on 3rd Rd today I noticed that the entire undeveloped area between J & P Court and 3rd RD has been graded. Unless they are planning to plant some rice there this could be the site of a new construction project so if anyone has plans to stay at the J & P in the future you may want to do some research.

My TGF has a Bangkok bank account and everytime that she transfers money to her parents Bangkok bank account in Korat she gets hit with a 20 baht charge. No charge for me when I tranfers money from my Bangkok account to hers in Pattaya.

I found out that the items amount to 6 boxes (normal shipping boxes about 1 meter by 1/3meter by 1/3 meter my approx guess). This is for the guy that I did a post on awhile back that has terminal cancer and I did a post on this board to help sell his condo. I don't know the guy but my neighbor is his friend and trying to help the guy out.

Remember that if you have a daily limit you could draw out more in a day in LOS as you could draw out in the morning and then again in the evening which could cover 2 days in your country.
-
Guys, Thanks for the replies but I screwed up. Got further clarification from my neighbor and the stuff can go by sea.
-
My neighbor who is from England asked me if I could find out from you experts who would be the best company to ship something from Pattaya to England at the lowest price. These items are small but there are many so they want to go by sea to keep the costs down.

Like 007 stated I didn't need any proof of income. I had an OPM letter that is sent to me each January showing my new Federal pension after receiving my annual COLA and they didn't want to look at the form. Just give them the $30 USD or Thai baht equivant, raise my hand and affirm that the info I provided was true and then I was out of there with my stamped form. The form asked for monthly income so I would assume that what IRS accepts as income would suffice. Dividends, interest, pension, rental income, etc. I had 10,000 baht in my Bangkok bank account when I got my retirement visa in Sep 06 and about 2,000 baht when I got my renewal in Aug 07. Heard a rumor that they now want 100,000 so I'll be ready when I go back for my renewal this August.

Unfortunately no. I have one of the larger 1 bedrooms. Double sliding door facing south off of the main room and also a double sliding door facing north. Single sliding door off the bedroom facing south. Balcony about 8 meters on the south and balcony of about 7 meters on the north. Screens on all sliding doors and windows. No lift or pool. Bathroom large enough for a washing machine. Fans in both rooms with A/C in bedroom.

There are about 6 beaches on Koh Larn. I prefer Samae which may be the same one your refering.

I told the owner of the apartment where I stay that I would post these vancaies. This place just opened this past August. They have 3 vacanies, 2 bedroom, 1 bedroom and another smaller 1 bedroom. Monthy rates is 17k, 12k, and 11k. I believe you get a small discount if you sign for a 1 year lease. The place is located north of Pattayaklang and between Soi Buakaow and 3rd Rd near Nova Park. I have no trouble walking to Pattayaklang for a baht bus but some of you might need a motorbike as you may not be as fit as this 62 year old. If you have any questions email Mark ( he is the son of a Thai lady and English father who are the owners). He was raised and educated in England so you should have no trouble with communications. email: smurfi@gmail.com Tell his you were reffered by Emil as I'm hoping to get a free beer.

I've never heard that about United, but best to talk to them direct. I was routed once on ANA for 1 leg of the flight and they only gave me 80% of the miles for that segment. When United routed me on Singapore out of SFO to ICN or HKG, they then put me on Thai for the leg into BKK.

Finished, it was just an addition to the AA Residence.

Bell Travel Service Bus - Gets a Big Thumbs Up !!
Emil replied to Regyai's topic in Transport in Thailand
Jack are you sure you were on the right level. When I first tried them I had a hard time finding them because I was on the wrong level. When I used them there was a tourist police booth right next to door 7 and the Bell lady was seated nearby. I didn't see any taxi touts on this level as it appeared to be for busses only. This is the area where all the tour groups board their busses.
