  1. Its in the ballpark. I pay 1200 + parking and tolls that amount to another 200 for a total of 1400.
  2. Fortunately your young and didn't lose half your asset on a woman. Long distance relationship are very difficult especially if you never had a short distance relationship for some time in the first place. You spent a great deal of time on this post, however I think it may be wasted as many boardmembers don't venture down to the open forum, especially the "Idle Chit Chat". I would suggest that you repost in the members area under "Relationships" I believe you will get more comments from other boardmembers. Good luck in the future and don't give up on LOS over this one incident. Emil
  3. The majority of the hotels in Pattaya don't charge a joiner fee unless your staying at the high ends ones that cater to familes or tour groups. Don't be afraid to stay away from Walking St and the Pattayalands as long as your not far from one of the baht bus routes as it will only cost you 10 baht and a few minutes in travel time. (travel time will take you a little longer now because they are doing some roadwork). One of the Sabai's, Bella Villa Prima or the hotels in the Soi 7/8 area would be a good choice.
  4. Have you checked the reviews written by other boardmembers in the hotel reviews section. (Pattaya Hotels between 1,000 and 2,000) Haven't stayed there myself but have read posts by others and hardly anything postive lately except when some have rented the party room for 1 night.
  5. Johnny, Last month there was a post about the nearby Palm Villa being demolished and that the Vientiane would soon follow, but no other details.
  6. They do have a new wing that opened about a year and half ago. When I walked by there a few months back there was another building going up next to the new wing, don't know if its another expansion or another hotel. I don't think they have a pool on site but they will let you use the one at their property on Soi Buakaow.
  7. Pattaya is very casual. The only thing that bothers me is when I see a tourist without any type of shirt on inside a market or mall. I only wear shorts, t-shirts, and sandals 90% of the time. If I want to dress up a little I'll go shorts and shirt and on the rare occasion long pants and shirt. If I were you I wouldn't buy anything in your home country as you can buy anything you need at a fraction of the cost. Although the humidity is high and will cause you to make numerous changes during the day, don't worry about quantity of clothes as you'll have no trouble in finding a laundry near your hotel. Some tourist actually will travel to Thailand to buy their wardrobe and their savings will pay for a good portion of the trip.
  8. If its near South Pattaya Rd, why would you spend 30 minutes to walk to Walking St when you can pay 10 baht and get there in a few minutes on a baht bus.
  9. That won't happen because of EEO. Your old enough to remember PSA and their stewardesses. Back then they had age and height to weight ratios to work for them until EEO stepped in. On my United flights recently they had one FA who was closer to age 65 than 55 and another one that was so overweight that when she walked down the aisle she had to walk sideways.
  10. I would hope so. Aren't they getting close to being the majority in LA county.
  11. This looks like a great business opportunity for someone to strike it rich in America. I would drive miles to get some good beans on toast and a few miles further to find a good Scottish restaurant that had haggis on the menu.
  12. Yes, that's the site between the Ma Maison and the Golden Grab. I thought this was going to be part of the Golden Grab which shouldn't take long to complete if the height of it is the same as the rest of the hotel. It looks like at least the pile driving part is finished.
  13. Sorry Johnny but you've gone past my research area. You might want to check out the just opened Sabai on Soi 1 or the soon to be opened Sabai Resort next to the Sabai Room. You would just be a short baht bus to Kittens or a short walk to those bars up by Tiffanfy's.
  14. jb, Send an email to Pattaya International Hospital and ask them. picpih@loxinfo.co.th I had 2 fillings done there about 2 weeks ago without any shots and didn't feel a thing.
  15. The MK is also my TG's favorite and they also have one at the Carrefour that not full of tour groups. On your next trip to the Royal Garden you'll have to go up another floor to eat because they remodeled the place. It's alot nicer now.
  16. cowboy, Didn't you get the link that I PM'd you. It was on your reply to me when I PM'd you 18 Jan asking you for the United double miles info you posted on 14 Jan. I had to PM you because you never reponded to my post following yours. Oh that's right you never replied to my PM so I couldn't have used your reply. I don't know why you ignored my request for your assistance as I was in LOS and couldn't call United myself for the info. Maybe because I'm a supporter of George Bush you don't want to associate with me. Anyway to show you that this conservative has no hard feelings and I'm in a good mood right now here is the link you requested. www.united.com/promoreg?title=United+Double+Miles+Offer&pcode=MPD425 Emil
  17. I go to Dr Darika at Pattaya International Hospital on Soi 4. She speaks decent English and I've never felt any pain during any of my visits which included a triple root canal this past summer. I know Hilly, Pete, Ben and Moulee all get their work done there as well but they use another female dentist who I can't remember her name.
  18. Wasn't she the same one who said you were too big for her?
  19. Don't know the name of this place but its located on the right hand side of 3rd Rd as your heading to North Pattaya Rd just before you get to the driving range which is on the other side. This place is cheap (79 baht + drinks) and is a bar-b-que buffet. You sit down at a table and a guy brings a bucket of burning charcoal and places it in the middle of your table that has a cut out. You put some kind of gadget on top that allows you to cook the meat that you have picked out from the buffet line. You also pour some water into the moat of this thing and you cook your vegatables. I suggest you have TG's with you and let them do all the work. When I've been there the place has been busy with around 70 people dining but on both occassions there were only about 6 falangs eating.
  20. BigD, If you don't get any takers why not take the bus. If your close to a sky train station hop on and get off at the Ekamai station for about 30 baht. The A/C buses leave every half hour and cost about 95 baht. When you get to Pattaya cross North Pattaya Rd and get the baht bus that has the yellow marking and it will take you to the Skytop for 5 baht. Total cost 130 baht or a savings of 1500 baht, enough to cover a L/T and barfine for Mok.
  21. You really don't need that much detail as long as you know where you are in relation to other parts of Pattaya. I've found my best TG's at obscure bars in town. As long as you know there is a high concetration of bars in the Soi 2/3 area along 2nd Rd, Soi 6, Soi 7/8, Soi 9 along 2nd Rd, Pattayaland 1&2, and Walking St you will find someone to your liking.
  22. BigD, What are you smoking? I clicked on your URL that you provided and it shows Pattaya. Remember that Pattaya is located in Chon Buri province.
  23. Roy, I noticed that Susie's has undergone another change. This time Karaoke for Japanese only. By the end of this year they should be finished with those 3 project near your place, but I wonder when they will build something on that land next to Mike's Beach.
  24. Are we talking about the same place? The place I'm talking about is next to the AA Residence and not that far from the Sandy. In 2001 I was staying at the Pattaya Center on Soi 12 and had a room on one of the upper floors facing Soi 12. At that time they were doing the pile driving for the Sandy and the noise was unbearable. It began at around 7 in the morning and went on until around 5 PM. I would have moved but this was my 2nd trip to Pattaya and I had paid for my room in advance with a credit card.
  25. Its been reported on other threads that those beer bars that have been vacant across the soi and next to the AA are coming down and construction will begin soon on another hotel. If that is indeed true, then your talking about some pile driving going on which is very loud and annoying.
