  1. Bear I've never stayed there. One reason is no pool, but I do like the area and have stayed at the Eastiny Place many times. I read that your going to be at the Yensabai Condos soon. If you get a chance could you stop by the Marine Yensabai Mansion and see if they have any rooms available on the 20th of August. Heard rumor that they were booked solid, but would like to verify. Emil
  2. Bear, Pig & Whistle is on Soi 7. Emil
  3. Not the same soi, but just a short distance away on Soi 4, I stayed at Mikes Beach Resort this past June for 16 nights for 600 a night. Emil

    EVA Fare

El Tib, I'll never figures these airlines out. This past February I went to the United Airlines website and looked for a fare from SFO to Bangkok. It was around $1500, but if I flew SFO to LAX then to BKK it was around $1100 and if I flew SFO to Seattle and then to BKK it was around $800. I then decided to check what it was from Sacramento to BKK thinking I might get the $800 fare because I thought they would route me Sacramento to Seattle then to BKK. I was shocked when the fare was a little over $600 and it was Sacramento to SFO to Bangkok. So by flying 90 miles to SFO instead of driving I saved $900. Emil
  5. Just finished booking with travel agent R/T Sacramento to Bangkok on EVA for $678 total. If I would have chosen to depart from SFO, fare would have been $20 less. Fare is good for departure through the month of August, but she said the fare is going up in a few days. Now that I have booked this trip I'm sure I'll see better deals, similiar to Pattaya when after you've paid the BF some gorgous TG appears from nowhere. Emil
  6. rumor, Near the top of this page is "Hotels", open it, then click on hotel reviews, then Pattaya hotels. Under "1000 or less" are reviews of both Flippers. Emil
  7. SoCal, The air con remaining on when you leave the room is another feature that is available at Mike's Beach Resort that we discussed last week. Emil
  8. I was in Pattaya last month and it looked like the 2nd ship was done, however there are 2 more still under construction. Emil
  9. If that hotel is full, nearby on Soi 4 is Mike's Beach Resort. I stayed there last month for 16 days for 600 a night. Emil
  10. El Swami, What did you do with El Tib. ??? What could be even a bigger + is the reason they're building a new airport is to make it attractive for other airlines to make it a hub. If that happens then their is a chance that for us on the west coast to get non-stop flights to BKK. ;D Emil
  11. I agree that the HK airport is quite impressive. Thailand is promoting their new airport which will be ready in 2 years to be just as nice or better. One big benefit will be the reduction in travel time to Pattaya. Emil
  12. simone, You could also read that article right hre on this board in the Nightmarch area. Emil
  13. Soi 7, It was in West Sacramento, called the Experience Motel. I just looked in the phone directory and its still open but I don't think its as popular as back then when it was a novelty. Emil
  14. They don't show a website on thier business card but if you need their email its sunshineptty@yahoo.com. Unless you don't mind a bathroom that only has a shower that pretty much gets the whole bathroom wet get a room in the new wing. Emil
  15. If they were to move the closing time 2 hours in the other direction it wouldn't bother me. I like to be back at my room by midnight so that I can get to sleep by 2 AM. I didn't travel 8000 miles to drink. ;D Emil
  16. Baz, I agree most of the time, but if I arrived around 9 in the morning and the difference was getting to Pattaya at 10:30 or 11:30 in the morning and the difference in cost was 1400 baht, I would take the 11:30 arrival time and with my savings and another 200 baht get a soapy ;D after unpacking and cleaning up. Emil
  17. I don't know what airline your flying on, but most of the US carriers will charge you more if you stopover in a city unless you have to spend the night there waiting for the next availble connection. Emil
  18. John, Are you sure Thai Limo has a bus at 0600, I thought their first run was 0900. ??? Emil
  19. I paid that in August and November of 2001. They've changed their policy after my November trip and I'm glad they did because I found better hotels with rates lower than 800 baht. Emil
  20. It's between 2nd Rd and Soi Buakow. Kiss restaurant is on the corner of Soi Diana and 2nd Rd, opposite Mikes Mall. Emil
  21. I stayed at the Pattaya Center on my first 2 trips to Pattaya and paid 800 baht a day (booked thru their website and no joiner fees). Since then I've stayed at 4 others hotels at a lower cost and they all had better rooms. True it is centerally located by it's not really close to any of the main areas. You've got a nice walk to Soi7 or the go-gos on Walking St. I've read somewhere that they have been refurbishing their rooms, so if that is true and you get one of them maybe it will be worth it. Emil
  22. I flew JAL last year from SFO to BKK through Narita. Nice airline and the attendants where cute on the Narita to Bangkok leg. I was able to use the JAL miles on my American Airlines account. Emil
  23. Welcome to the board. My recommendation would be to get out of Bangkok as soon as possible and get to Pattaya. You would get more responses if you posted this in the "Members Board" under Newbie rather here in Airline Deals Emil
  24. Like it's been said before, Pete is the one who calls the shots. For something as trival as a website that appears in a post, and if it indeed is a plug for his business , it is something that I can live with. I don't know Ken, but I will give him the benefit of the doubt that he is just trying to be helpful. If my hobby was LOS and I enjoyed playing around with the computer and built a website that contained LOS information and wanted to share with others, I would probably just reference the site instead of spending time to type all that info into a post, but I have always prefered to do the job with the least amount of effort. And yes I also noticed that almost all his post contained the website, but with over 3300 members and growing every month and all the guests that log on, if you were trying to inform others you would have to provide it regularly. Even if it appears in a post that has 2000 views, if that post has 40 replies, as little as 50 members could have viewed his website. Bottom line is Pete should be the only one to have any worries over this, how does anyone of us know that Ken has not already discussed this with Pete and been given the approval. Emil
