I'll be back in Scotland for a week towards the end of the month so I'll be able to check any recent mail from the Nationwide then. Alan -

From the Nationwide's web-site "Nationwide does not charge for using cash machines in the UK or overseas, but the machine provider may make a charge over which we have no control." Alan -

As far as I know, that letter hasn't been sent to me yet - unless my brother forget to mention it when we spoke yesterday. I only use mine abroad a handful of times - mainly when I go to a neighbouring country. Alan -
Anyone ever had a problem bringing a bar girl back to your place?
Eneukman replied to ginseng's topic in Expat Issues
I rent a condo in View Talay 2 in Jomtien. I bring girls back on a regular basis and never have any problems. The security guys at the entrance will take the girl's ID card if requested, but I tend not to bother as if any problems arise, I will be back to the girl's bar to complain the next day. I did notice one time that they had quite a few ID cards in the desk. Alan -
Watch you don't get ripped off by their dual price ladydrinks. 95 baht for a "standard" drink (whatever that may be) and 125 baht for a ladydrink cocktail. Earlier this week, I was charged 125 baht for a SMALL shot of tequila. As far as I'm concerned, tequila is NOT a cocktail. Also, the volume provided in Doll House in Walking Street and Secrets is somewhat larger and "only" costs 110 baht. I imagine that the volume of tequila served as a ladydrink in the FLB will be similar to the latter two establishments. Total fucking rip-off!!!!! Alan

As standard now, before I agreed to barfine a girl last night I agreed her fee (more important than normal in this case as she used to work in Super Girls - now in the FLB) and then asked her what time she would leave in the morning. She replied 7.00 am, which for me is a definite non starter for long time. I then stated my preferred time of between 10.00 and 11.00. She agreed that she would stay until 10.00 so I pay bar and off we go. As it happened, it was about 10.20 when she left so no problems there. I then went down to the pool for my daily one hour morning swim. Alan

Jerry showed that he was a true professional in Lennies last year when despite some very personal attention from 2 or 3 of the girls, he kept on singing as though nothing was happening. I hope to make both nights this year. Alan

Unless the law has changed in the UK, you're allowed to buy alcohol at 18. Many bars, however, have a policy of not allowing anyone under the age of 21 in. In most cases, it should be bloody obvious whether someone is over 21 or not. The store is just being bloody minded. In Somerfield's in Edinburgh, a message comes up on the till asking the cashier whether the would be purchaser was over 18. They never asked me as it was blatantly obvious that my 18th birthday was a long time ago. Alan

That's the one that put me in hospital for 2 days. However, you can get food poisoning almost anywhere. Alan

As said above - post more. Alan

I'd noticed that the bar was open again. The Chica sign was still up behind the bar, but presumably this will be changed shortly. Alan

There is a rstaurant in Soi 2 itself - about half way down. I did get food poisoning there on my last visit 2 years ago though the real reason I don't go there now is that I now live in Jomtien. Alan

I will try to look in at some point on Friday. It could be a very drunken night knowing some people! Alan -
I was in for a quick drink last night and no fewer than 4 girls recognised me from eleswhere. I hadn't shagged any of them - well, not yet any way. There were around 10 girls on the main stage with another 4 or 5 on the side stage last night. Alan

It's still 10 baht per person. The location was never a problem for me when I stayed there and whilst it is possible to walk to the FLB, why bother when the baht buses are so regular? As far as the road works are concerned, I've passed the RG a few times in the afternoon recently and work there seems to have ground to a halt. They're actually doing work close to View Talay 2 and leaving a right bloody mess behind! I reckon the work will be finished by about 2012 - but again TiT1 Alan -
I want time to peruse not just the girls on stage when I go in but also those that take the place of those who have completed their "stint". It's impossible to put a time limit on this. One point that does irritate me (and it doesn't happen in New Living Dolls 1) is when the mamasan comes up just after you've sat down and starts asking which girl I want. Give me a chance - the girl I want may not be on stage at that moment in time! Alan

My offshore account is with Nationwide International in the Isle of Man. To get interest paid gross, you now have to ensure they are aware that you are not resident in the EU. As I am now non-resident for UK income tax purposes, the UK government cannot tax the interest I receive each year. Alan

According to the BBC's web-site, 42 people have been taken to hospital. Whilst I was having my dinner, the waiter was watching one of the Thai television channels and said that 73 people are known to have died in the crash. This figure may yet rise. Alan

TOT's engineers don't have a clue. Two of them came to my condo and told me that my problems were being casused by my firewall - Zone Alarm. They also contended (as do AOL) that you don't need a firewall. Two minutes after they left. the service went down again! It took over an hour to get through to the office. They came back just before 5.00 pm and this time admitted that the problem was in Bangkok. Totally clueless! Alan

I was wondering the same. It seems to be a fair walk down to Pratamnak Road though not too far from South Pattaya Road. It can't be too far from Soi DAy Night? Without a web-site or the ability to accept bookings by e-mail, I don't see many people choosing it. Certainly, it's not for me as it doesn't have a pool. Alan
