A couple of friends and i decided to test the new crossing lights on Beach road last night, After pressing the button, the countdown started, when the lights were red we started to cross, two Baht busses had stopped and we managed to avoid the few motorcycles who took no notice of the lights, then a ferang in a pick-up started sounding his horn aggressively at us for being in the road.

A cop stops a Harley for travelling faster than the posted speed limit, so he asks the biker his name. 'Fred,' he replies. 'Fred what?' the officer asks. 'Just Fred,' the man responds. The officer is in a good mood and thinks he might just give the biker a break and, write him out a warning instead of a ticket. The officer then presses him for the last name. The man tells him that he used to have a last name but lost it. The Officer thinks that he has a nut case on his hands but plays along with it. 'Tell me, Fred, how did you lose your last name?' The biker replies, 'It's a long story, so bear with me.' I was born Fred Dingaling. I know - a funny last name. The kids used to tease me all the time, so I became a bit of a loner, studied hard and got good grades. When I got older, I realized that I wanted to be a doctor. I went through college, medical school, internship, residency, and finally got my degree, so I was Fred Dingaling, MD. After a while I got bored being a doctor, so I decided to go back to school. Dentistry was my dream! Got all the way through school, got my degree, so then I was Fred Dingaling, MD, DDS. Got bored doing dentistry, so I started fooling around with my assistant and she gave me VD, so now I was Fred Dingaling, MD, DDS, with VD. Well, the ADA found out about the VD, so they took away my DDS. Then I was Fred Dingaling, MD, with VD. Then the AMA found out about the ADA taking away my DDS because of the VD, so they took away my MD leaving me as Fred Dingaling with VD. Then the VD took away my Dingaling, so now I am just Fred.' The officer walked away in tears, laughing.

Brilliant ! A great tribute, i'm sure he would have approved.

I think it's got something to do with the Thais being easily impressed with things with flashing lights. " OOOOH they look good, we'll have some." I still can't get over the grinning Mayor wearing a hard hat on the posters. How about a death toll, updated daily, printed on the bottom of the poster. that would be something to grin about

Yes Dave, the Colosseum graphics are a hint of what is coming, the new club will be completely seperate. The bowling alley was moved to make room for a new entrance to the original club. (the bowling alley is currently being re assembled under the Muay-Thai academy on third road opposite the fitness center.) Tony's, is still as it was, apart from now being predominantly Red, not White. 'ABYZZ' will have it's own entrance and no connection to 'Tony's' as i said, the ground floor will be a new 24 hour gym.

Close Dave, this will be totally seperate from the rest of the place, due to the abundance of 'middle eastern' people in the club he has decided to let them have the place and start a completely new, seperate venue. 'ABYZZ' catering for the European visitors. The downstairs area will have a gym, complete with swimming pool. which can be viewed from the first floor club. Having seen the development inside i can only say, it's awesome !

Coming in the new year, a brand new night club. This place is going to be amazing. The decor is breathtaking, think Roman, Venitian, Michael Angelo ceilings, Blue Marble and gold leaf, water tank for the girls.

I can hear all the cacophony of Marine plaza from my room, the other night i heard sirens and then it all went quiet, i had to get up to see what was going on and saw people still there but no music. i went back to bed as i had someone 'on the boil' Now i know what it was about.

My friends and i tried to use one on Second road the other day and it was not working. Last night i was on a Baht bus on Pattaya Tai and the driver went straight through one even though it was showing red to the traffic. How long before the first fatality ?

I know that one ! I went to a bar i used to play in many years ago, it had been completely re built, i was looking around thinking "The bar used to run along here and the stage was over there". It is now one of those 'New style', Wetherspoons type bars, then i started to work out how long ago that was, a chill went up my back when i realised that most of the people drinking there were not even born then ! !
