  1. Eva seat pitch 33", Air France 31". Big difference on a long haul flight.
  2. As Bill McClaren used to say they were dancing in the streets in Vaduz last night.
  3. It just goes to show how old I am. :crying
  4. Rangers were beaten in the Cup Winners Cup Final in the same year 1967 1-0 by Bayern Munich. Borussia Dortmund won it the previous year beating Liverpool at Hampden Park in the final.
  5. I would agree with The_Fat_Controller's opinion.
  6. Usually they are on the ball (pun intended) with new strips. Beckam Real Madrid jersey was all over the place last summer even before he had been assigned a squad number. I got football jerseys in a place at one of the shops on Beach Road at about Soi 13. I would not recommend Mike Shopping Plaza as they cater to bus loads of tourists and prices tend to reflect this.
  7. I was picked up recently on Soi 4 by one of Alex drivers for trip to Pattaya. He was about 10 minutes late which was no mean feat given Bkk traffic. ( If he made it exactly on time I would ask him to tell me his lottery numbers) Smooth hassle free trip to Pattaya with a stop to buy soft drinks which was very welcome. Very satisfactory and I would not hesitate to use him again.
  8. The heat is a problem in Thailand. Serious walking is impossible, so for me a daily session on a walking/running ramp is essential to compensate. It would seem from previous replies that you need to go upmarket to use a satisfactory gym. Rather than this I stayed recently at Areca Lodge, and found the gym there was pretty good. I have stayed previously in the Markland, and found the gym there was also good.
  9. Ajax, You certainly may. I booked with Precision reservations @ US26 per night. Using currency converter this works out at 1075 baht. I would consider it good value for room and good buffet breakfast. Proximity to Asok for Sky Train and new subway system makes it an excellent location. Only drawback as I see it is fitness centre is dreadful and TV channels are fairly limited. I would imagine most people would not be bothered by these.
  10. Ajax, I am staying there at present. I am on 4th floor overlooking construction. IMHO it is not a problem though I have to confess I have hearing aids which I take out at night. They seem to knock off around midnight and start again about 7.30. I have not heard my TG complaining about it.
  11. Ricardo was terrible for the winning goal. Deco was abysmal, and it was only when Rui Costa came on when Portugal were behind, that any kind of sustained pressure was put on the Greeks. They were deserving winners last night. But outside of Greece the feelgood factor seems muted compared to the Danes triumph in 1992.
  12. How about a final between Holland and Czech Republic? They were in the same qualifying group, also in the same group, and possibly may meet yet again in the final.
  13. Napolean used to ask if his generals were lucky. If he was around today he would have no complaints. But if France do not improve they will surely meet their Waterloo later on in the tournament.
  14. I thought Alan Pardew was very gracious in defeat. Most of these playoff games are balanced on a knife edge, and Palace enjoyed a few slices of good fortune along the way.
  15. I forgot to get my air miles credited last year from Amsterdam - Bkk. I rang Eva in London gave them flight details, and they credited my account straightaway.
  16. sensei, I flew Singapore in January London-Singapore-Christchurch. Seat pitch in economy is 32" which is murder on a long haul flight if you are 6ft 2incs. The service is excellent and you have individual screens. I was very happy to break the return journey by a side trip to Bkk. Being a freebie I imagine you will look on the positive aspects. If they have a whip round for money for gas near the end of the flight perhaps you should begin to be concerned.
  17. It must have been one of the most exciting last days in Masters history. Mickelson produced one of the greatest finishes with 5 birdies in the last 7 holes under enormous pressure. Incredible scenes when he sank the birdie putt on the 18th to win. As Els has 3 Majors already I would think most viewers were thrilled to see Mickelson win it. Also the 2 successive groups producing a hole in one at the 16th.
  18. 32" Seat Pitch. Not great if you are a big guy for a long haul flight.
  19. I agree with carl2004. Portugal is the same time as the UK. GMT +1 in Summer which is 6 hours behind Thailand which stays GMT +7 all year round. So the kick off times will be 23.00 and 01.45 in Thailand. I expect to be in Thailand in June myself. If the 2nd game is poor it will be a struggle to stay awake. ::)
  20. Eva seat pitch is 33".
  21. He He Nice one LoL ;D
  22. Plenty of space in the rooms, but the beds are too short IMO. In a moderate climate nice walking distance from the action but not in Thailand. Lack of facilities in the immeadiate vicinity. I would not recommend it, but I would concede I am in a minority.
  23. Better to go 1 stop to National Stadium and enter through Tokio Dept Store if you want to minimise walking in the heat. :)
  24. Ronald Reagan broke the Zero Factor. I think he was almost 70 when he was elected, so it was reasonable to think at the time if he went 2 terms he could pass on from natural causes, and thus keep the weird sequence going. I bet Dubya is relieved. The coincidences between the assassinations of Abe Lincoln and JFK are indeed staggering. ???
  25. Mike Shopping Mall sell a vast array of football shirts. Might be worth a try if you have not already looked there. MBK shopping centre in BKK another possibility. I am sure there will be many other ideas. :)
