Direct flight - you stay on the plane when it refuels in Tokyo Non-stop - you make no stops between here and Bangkok. I fly EVA and it takes 15:45 hours going and 14:20 hours returning plus 2:30 waiting going and 2:50 coming back. United schedules a fast stop in Toyko but it can bite you in the ass if they are late getting into Toyko. Last time they had me in Toyko in time to catch the flight to SFO but wouldn't let me board because they couldn't get the luggage changed fast enough. So a theoretical 17:30 hour flight turned out to be something like 23 hours.

A non-stop from SFO to BKK should take about 15 hours if it is really non-stop. At 17:10, it is probably a direct flight.

Flipper Lodge vs. Flipper Hotel
irishman replied to rumor1126's topic in Hotel and Accommodation Questions
Both Flipper Lodge and Flipper House are good value for the price. Remember, rooms are under $20 a night. I prefer the FH because it is easier to get a return email from them. If you are not interested in making a reservation first, there are a lot of choices in the immediate area. Sometimes it is easier to walk in to deals at the other places because they don't have as big an internet following. Flipper house was booked pretty solid during July because of their special and many walk-ins were turned away. Good luck and enjoy! -
God, it's another bloke writing a book! There ought to be a rule somewhere about this type of nonsense!
-
The short story is that it started out to mean "Frenchman" but is was later expanded to mean "foreigner" Cheers
-
Glad you liked the book! The real thing is much better though as I'm sure you found out. Cheers

Bigbear says it was still in effect last week? The original sign said that the promotion ended July 31 and they took that sign down on the 30th. You can always email them and see what the current deal is though. "Sinchai Wattanasatsaton" handles the reservations and has always answered me promptly. Cheers

I haven't played inalmost 20 years and not much then but I will be in Pattaya at the appropriate time and will probably be looking for things to do so is it possible for a newbie to play? And if so, how the hell do you figure out a handicap? Cheers

If price is your only criteria, then it's probably OK for the money. Personally, the whole layout reminds me of a prison with long blank sterile halls and small rooms. Lots of people live there though and location isn't too bad. The suites will vary according to the tastes of the owner but no problems with guests.

Problems with creating a poll...

Thank you Pete for today's chuckle! I thought maybe I was only one who was getting a bit fed up with them. -
If you like to be squashed in a minivan and make several stops before you leave Pattaya then going thru a travel agency is fine. If you don't like to wait around for others then an alternative is to hire a taxi. You have several choices on 2nd road between Soi 7 and 8 and it cost 700 baht to Ban Phe(for Ko Samet) and 600 back. I thought it was 400 or 450 per person for just the tour transport anyway so if you take a terac, it isn't too much more and it's way nicer. Take the ferry over to Na Dan and rent a motorbike or walk along til you find something you like. Lots of choices and should

I don’t often disagree with Pete but on this topic I do. I was privileged to eat real Hungarian food in several quaint places in Budapest and found the food to be quite delightful. An order of magnitude better than say your typical English fare. Really good Hungarian restaurants are not common so one would have a definite niche thing going for it in Pattaya. BTW, I find that the food in Pattaya is one of its attractions. Certainly not the biggest attraction, but definitely a very pleasant one. One of my goals is to try every restaurant in Pattaya and I hope it takes many years to acc

Not usually. Too hot! But they can be persuaded and you can buy them there!

Any of the Hospitals are good. Cost about 1500 - 2000 baht per series if I recall correctly. I know what you are thinking but remember birth control also! We don't want to be leaving pregnant TGs around now , do we?

After I stopped laughing for the second time, I thought "Maybe this guy is serious" Nah! Has to be a wind up. Right? "Does anyone know a farang who has made money from a beer bar in the last 10 years?" might be a better question.

I did a review on Stable Lodge in BKK and it took almost a month before it appeared in the review section. Guess there is just a long lag time because they need to be checked for general content. Can't be x-rated!

Try Khun Sinchai at: "Sinchai Wattanasatsaton" He takes care of the reservations and has always promptly responded to my inquiries. Cheers -
Hmmm! Sleeping alone in Pattaya? Can't say I've ever done that. What's it like? LOL

Unfortunately, we can thank ourselves for a lot of the problems. I always try and give the benefit of the doubt but how many of us have really been completely honest with our TGFs? They are not stupid, only sometimes uneducated. If you demonstrate what telling stories will provide for them, they WILL learn and quite quickly. Why is it more unfortunate that we get burned a couple of times as opposed to them? I can tell you the story of one BG who believed her farang boyfriend about his getting a divorce and marrying her only to wind up pregnant and alone several years later. Much wor

FLIPPER soi 7 v SUNSHINE soi 8
irishman replied to THE_DRUID's topic in Hotel and Accommodation Questions
Please remember that western logic does not apply in Thailand. I am staying at the Flipper house on Soi 7 during the month of July. I booked early and got a rate of 650 baht/night for the month in the old wing. When I heard about the offer on the internet, I went back to them and asked for an improvement in the rate. Their reply was to give me the first 14 days at the 14 for 10 day rate of 535 baht a day and then increase the rate to 600 baht a day for the rest of my stay. Does any of this make sense? Remember, TIT. -
Head away from the beach on Pattaya Central from Second road. On the right hand side up no more than a block is a barber shop with about 5 chairs. Haircuts were about 100baht and I don't remember if that included a wash. Good haircut though.
