This is 2010. There are cameras everywhere. What is wrong with having cameras on the soccer field? Officials make mistakes whether on purpose or not. Cameras would also catch some of the excellent acting jobs as well as poor calls.

A repair is something that Apple products never need. That is if you believe Apple fanatics. ADDED - My Lenovo (IBM) Thinkpad died at two and a half years. I looked back at my warranty and it had a three year International warranty. I contacted Lenovo and was informed that my laptop here in Thailand was covered. I had to take it to an authorized dealer and the nearest was 150 kilometers away in Udon Thani. I was pleased that they replaced the mother board at no charge. Somchai's local shop can repair an unbranded desktop on the spot. I wasn't happy driving 150 kilometers for the lapt

This is one Yank who will never get worked up over ANY silly game, especially soccer. Maybe I'm just jealous because the prima donna jocks make incredible insane amounts of money.
-
I think you can. It's called an Apple iMac. Try to get one of those repaired upcountry.
-
What is it supposed to be?

It will probably be a tough job to find an insane person to pay even 15,000 baht for something like that.

YEP, that's the one. You do have the choice of buying a little box with no cables. They are a lot more expensive and if you take one to Somchai's little computer shop for repair, his eyes will roll back in his head and he will tell you "MAI DAI". As for myself, I'll happily put up with the cables.
-
The box is that place where they put in all those electronic gadgets like hard drives, CPU, power supply, RAM and whatever else is needed to make a computer work. It's also called a case. If you buy a good one, it will definitely last longer than you will.

Anytime a person buys proprietary products, they are then forced to buy overpriced service parts that are usually hard to find and expensive when you are able to find them. Years ago, I had a huge yard, it was the best part of ten acres and had many trees. It didn't take long to wear out big name brand lawnmowers. I eventually found a mower called a Yazoo. It was built by Mississippi rednecks. That Yazoo would turn in its own length, no trimming was needed. The dealer told me that when anything breaks or wears out, that I could buy the part from the local hardware store. The last time m

I used Norton Internet Security free trial for 90 days then subscribed for a year. The NEW Norton is a VERY good product, fast and uses very few resources. I had no problems at all and if not for trying the free MSE and firewall, would have happily bought Norton again. Those people who insist the Norton is a resource hog have NOT done their homework. The older packages were slow and used a lot of resources. Because of that, they lost thousands of customers. Norton was totally rebuilt and they did a great job. It installs fast and you will never even know it is on your system except for the lit

I have used a number of free and purchased Anti-virus programs. The only one that ever let me down and allowed my computer to become infected was AVG. It was the free version so I didn't complain too much. I now use Microsoft Security Essentials and the free Microsoft firewall. No problems at all so far and I don't even know it is there until it does its regular scan. I also use Advanced System Care Pro but when it expires, I doubt I will renew. The free Spyware Doctor seems to do fine.

Htc Desire/hd2 Or I-phone 4/3gs ?
Gary replied to LocalYokul's topic in Technical problems or questions.
This is not a dig at fancy phone users. This is a serious question. What functions do you actually use and find useful? I'm not talking about games and such. I used a Nokia 5800 for the GPS and decided that it sucks. the high speed 3G and 4G systems are virtually non existent in Thailand. What if they did work here? Can you actually surf the Internet using the tiny screen? My smart phone can use WiFi and is 3G capable. Other than reading emails, when I have my reading glasses with me, the GPRS EDGE works fine and I have no genuine need for 3G or even WiFi. My smart phone is in a drawer and -
I will say that soccer is more interesting than cricket, but not much more interesting. While working in Australia, one of the guys I worked with took me to a cricket match. I was bored to death. The next day he called and asked if I was ready. I had to ask was I ready for what? He told me that we HAD to go watch the finish of the cricket match. I didn't go and he was really pissed off at me. They may not score in a soccer match but at least it is finished in one day.

After reading a bit more about the iPad, I discovered that it doesn't even have a USB port not to even mention an SD memory card slot. Apple looks determined to get every dollar from the customer it possibly can. By the time you buy all the items needed to make it a decent net book, you will have the price of a good lap top invested. All I can say for sure is that when my loaded lap top dies, I will buy a net book and it WON'T be an Apple product. ADDED - I forgot to mention that the iPad also needs a special SIM card. You CAN'T use the SIM card from your phone.

Hind sight is always accurate, however, if you would have bought a condo five years ago, due to the exchange rate, it's not likely you would lose any money selling it today. I got 40 baht to a dollar when I bought my condo. My condo is NOT for sale. I have had good offers. I could double dip. It has appreciated plus considering the exchange rate gain, I would do quite well. I was told when I bought that I was stupid buying when rent was cheap. I was also told that I was paying way too much. Bar stool advice is seldom worth considering. I wouldn't advise anyone to buy today unless they

I net about 6 percent and consider myself lucky. I have a very good renter so the rent is pretty cheap. I want to keep him there.

I have had three Toyota pickup trucks. The first one was great and I loved it. The second one was trouble free but had many rattles. The third one was a fancy 4X4 four door and it was a total lemon. I suppose they all make a few lemons but that one soured me on Toyotas. In 2004 I bought a new Nissan and at 85,000 kilometers it was still totally original. I had to replace the battery last month. Other than a new battery I have never replaced even a light bulb. Another point is that the 4X4 Toyota was lucky to get 10 kilometers per liter. The Nissan gets 15 kilometers per liter. Both had 3.0

I have a one bedroom 60 square meter corner unit. The bedroom is bigger than the living room. I have my computer in the bedroom along with a big TV. The bedroom has an efficient air conditioner. Since I spent most of my time in the bedroom, my electric bills were very reasonable. The air conditioner for the living room and kitchen was seldom used. More space would actually be a waste. I'd say 60 square meters is ideal for full time living. ADDED - My girlfriend at that time didn't like air conditioning and much preferred Thai TV. I had my cable TV in the bedroom and the living room had Tha

I'll be first to admit that I know nothing about Apple. My friend told me the ipod had been hacked and had 4,000 MP3 songs on it. Since the songs were MP3 format, I thought I had a chance to be able to copy them.

Apple lovers are like Toyota lovers. If Toyota put wheels on a turd, Toyota lovers would tell you what a great turd it is. As long as Apple has so much proprietary shit on the products, I wouldn't touch them. Why anyone would buy a phone that that needs hacked before you can use it is way beyond me. I spent about four hours trying to take music from an ipod and put it on a friend's computer. After spending a lot of time downloading itunes, and getting the message that itunes didn't recognize the music format, I gave up.

A BIG caution. I can't remember ever having an ear infection in my life. That is until a Thai barber cleaned my ears. I went to the eye, ear and nose specialist and the first thing he asked me is if a barber cleaned my ears. He told me in no uncertain terms to NEVER do that again. Since that I have had ear infections on a fairly regular basis.

I noticed that no one talked about the size of the unit. 48 square meters is a livable condo. Some guys buy tiny shoebox size units. I'm talking about 28 square meters and brag about how little they paid. Any price under 35,000 baht per square meter is a pretty good price. People paying 100,000 and up per square meter have more money than sense.

My wife wanted a Vios so we had a look at them. Sitting in the driver's seat, I thought the visibility sucked. AND, I would NEVER buy a car that had the instrument cluster in the middle of the dash. Stupid design. On the way home, we passed the Ford dealer. I really like the looks of the Focus and ended up buying the top of the line Focus Ghia. It is the best handling car I have ever had and has all the options. That said, it will be the LAST car I ever buy here in Thailand. I hit a dog and it cost the insurance company 39,000 baht to replace all the plastic shit. Shortly after I got i

I totally burned out on the bars and nightlife of Pattaya and Bangkok. I now live upcountry and am quite content. I could VERY easily live on 35,000 baht a month and give up nothing. Do I have to live on 35,000 baht per month? That answer is no. I'm not wealthy by any means but I do have a healthy surplus. I would NOT be happy if I had to live on a budget or have to worry about the exchange rate.

I'd probably be an alcoholic but my raggedy old body won't let me. After imbibing too much, I suffer for at least two days and no way could I choke down an alcoholic drink. Even thinking about a beer makes my stomach turn.
