Cooks wearing masks - do you perfer those restaurants?
SmellyFarang replied to SmellyFarang's topic in Restaurants and food
*Ahem* Pardon me. If I might interject for a moment. You guys aren't helping asuage my (borderline) psychosis here. Anyone know a good therapist in Patts? -
Geez, people defend all caps postings but I can't get any love for entire posts in blinking fonts? Life is so unfair... I recommend you also check out View Talay 6 as I think it has the best location in Patts (next to Central Festival on Beach Rd). I tried a few different condos from Dancewatchers in various buildings, but after I stayed in VT6 it has been my #1 choice for all my trips since then. I also recommend you use the search function on this and the other Pattaya boards to read condo reviews from other BMs - including their reviews of dealings with the condo owners (such as

foodie needs some buffet info in pattaya
SmellyFarang replied to kratos's topic in Restaurants and food
They must have restarted them because they're advertising in a variety of places and I just ate there 3 weeks ago. I've actually been trying Hilton's buffet several times in recent weeks - they have a different theme each day for lunch (350B) and also have dinner buffets every night. General observations: great view & seating, but lunches don't offer a lot of meat/protien (similar to other buffets I've tried in Patts), though they do have a great dessert table. The Montien seafood dinner had a lot of meat dishes, but I was put off the carverys because they weren't hot - despite -
foodie needs some buffet info in pattaya
SmellyFarang replied to kratos's topic in Restaurants and food
Dinner buffet at the new Hilton on top of Central Festival is one of the best I've found in town - top quality for 800B Montien hotel (next to Hard Rock) has an "International Seafood" buffet every Fri night that is decent, but somewhat overpriced for 1,000B Central Festival mall has a few buffet restaurants, but I didn't think any were especially good (not bad, just not great for selection, etc). -
Condo as apposed to hotel
SmellyFarang replied to cicero1520's topic in Hotel and Accommodation Questions
One of the reasons I've been renting from Dancewatchers over the years is that they include various other services, like maid service, that help save time & minimize hassle during my trips. For example, they're also providing me with a phone & good quality camera as well as offering motocycle rentals these days. -
Condo as apposed to hotel
SmellyFarang replied to cicero1520's topic in Hotel and Accommodation Questions
Pricing was much better than comparable quality from any hotels I've looked at over the years. But one special tip - the entrance from Beach Rd has a locking gate that requires a room key. So you have to remember to tell your girls to always exiit via the front of the building to 2nd Rd. I've rescued a number of poor girls looking forlorn and stranded that tried to go back to Beach Rd and were locked in (but unlocking the gate for them is a nice way to pick up some more phone#s -
Condo as apposed to hotel

View Talay 6 is my favorite location in Patts, and I've used condos there from Dancewatchers for the last several trips. Just search Dancewatchers on this and the other major boards and you'll find a lot of reviews from BMs, including myself. The fact that I keep using Dancewatchers tells you that I've been pretty happy there, and most all of the other comments from other people have been pretty positive as well. -
Renting condo 3 months--how far in advance
SmellyFarang replied to nkped's topic in Hotel and Accommodation Questions
The longer you wait, the tougher it will be to find a condo available for that full block of time uniterrupted. But it depends on your priorities - if you'll be traveling relatively light and won't consider it a major hassle to switch condos once or twice during your trip you might actually do better to try different condos for a month or so each to enjoy the variety. My most recent trip Dancewatchers was able provide a condo in my favorite building, View Talay 6, for a full 3 months. But since they're usually pretty heavily booked I reserved over 4 months in advance. Since you're pl -
Knowing there's a big price disparity for some stuff in farangland vs Pattaya, I've been debating which camera & computer equipment to bring vs buy locally my next trip. It turns out that one of the computer shops in TukCom is for a major chain that not only has a decent website, but also pretty complete price info as well. For example, I was able to see that pretty much *anything* related to camera equipment seems quite a bit more expensive in Pattaya. So, here's the shop & website for any other BMs interested in doing some price comparisons to decide "bring or buy?" for thei

No problem, all thread subject lines should stand on the merit of their content and not resort to such lame attempts for attention ... especially if my test below still works <FONT><BLINK>Blinking Text</BLINK></FONT>

There's been talk about this for the past couple years, and it looks like the USA just passed the legislation as well: http://www.travelagentcentral.com/governme...gislation-31667 The part that really caught my attention was: No need to individually apply for visas or entry permits each time you travel to any of the participating APEC economies as the card is your visa. Has anyone else had a chance to take a closer look at the details, or tried to apply for one of these cards?

These guys have an adapter that allows you to use 2 SIM cards in your phone/tablet - such as one from farangland and one from LOS. It seems like an interesting solution: http://www.simore.eu/en/index.php Here is a youtube demo: http://www.youtube.com/user/dualsimcard?blend=21&ob=5 Anyone have any experience with them, or other dual SIM adapters, you can share?

Next trip I plan to use a "Vaultz Locking Laptop Case" for my computer, etc. In addition to the dual combination locks is also has a side grommet that connects to a standard laptop security cable that I'll probably just loop through the closet hanger pole or something. I realize this will be less secure than a room safe and that a couple kitchen knives could probably jigger the locks, but my main goal is simply prevent the temptation of an impulsive "grab 'n dash" by one of the girls while I'm in the shower or sleeping. Has anyone had success with this before, or offer some better

.. and WS is just a few minutes up the road. This pic is looking towards WS, also from the roof of VT2A

Here's a pic from the roof of VT2A (early 2009), looking across the street to the bar complex. Certainly smaller than Patts, but still a lot there to explore & enjoy.

No wind up - that just seems like it would be a low-key way to proactivley manage a girl's expectations that, while you may spend a few days with her and treat her nice, you are never going to "come to village to meet mama and papa". By her knowing the score from the start, one would hope to avoid the necessity of having to have that discussion at some point.

Like many BMs, I've had my share of encounters with very possessive BGs that really pushed for a more long-term relationship. So I'm considering wearing a fake wedding ring as a way of showing girls that I'm unavailable for a LT relationship. Anyone care to share some observations, opinions or personal experience if a wedding ring will actually help?
