  1. If he buy's you a sim card and sends it to you make sure that he tops it up enough so that it does not expire before you arrive as there is a time limit dependent on how much call time you buy, eg. I think 200baht gives you 28 day's use ?.
  2. Brian whatever you do don't admit to bringing it into the country, the man in the pub is better as one of the bad points in my case is the fact I was caught with them in an airport, I hope that you hear no more from the police as it's a nightmare to go through not to mention the loss in wages and the costs, I wish you luck. Hi Jack, I remember meeting you in FLB I think (when you were on your first trip ?), it was a party night I think and you were sat in the "comfy" seats watching the contest lol thanks guy's for good luck wishes.
  3. Hi Tom, I've had two trips to London now in the Magistrates courts and it has now been pushed up to the Crown court for sentencing, I'm up next Friday and very worried, it now carries a 10 year sentence according to my barrister although that is very unlikely in my case, I hope to be able to finish the trip report with good news after Friday, if you don't hear from me then it's because I am on another type of holiday. ps thanks for asking
  4. Check out WestEast travel , just had an e mail from them and they are offering Thai, Eva, Singapore, Cathay etc for travel Sept-Oct-Nov all less than £400 if booked before end of Sept.
  5. I stayed in the cholchan once, it's too far out of town and the joiner fee was 500baht but the hotel itself was good, but won't stay there again.
  6. Stamboy I've replied to your pm, re: Samet. if I can help anymore let me know.
  7. Go to Ko-Samet, I've been there a few times and Hat sai kaew is the best place, stayed at Hat sai kaew villas for about 900baht per night , large rooms some with a/c some fan, wish I was there now.
  8. Went with them a few years ago, 4 hour stopover in Doha outbound, 1 hour on return, they gave me a free food voucher to use in the restaurant , good flight, food okay, Airbus A330 planes with seat back IFE, if I remember correctly no alcohol available in Doha and nothing to do except look around the shops.
  9. He's gonna be gutted, Man U unluckily just lost the FA cup on a penalty shoot out against Arsenal.
  10. Cheers Tom , that worked a treat.
  11. Hi I have written a trip report in microsoft word but it wont copy and paste to the flb trip report page, anyone now if I can do this or have I got to re-write it all.
  12. Flipper have got their usual deal on at the moment, stay 7nts pay for 5 , stay 10 nts pay for 7 , stay 14nts pay for 10.
  13. Flipper house have recently put up their offer signs, stay 7nts pay for 5, stay 14 pay for 10, applies from 1st may to July, and I leave for Bangkok today, just my luck.
  14. Been staying in the Dynasty inn since the 18th, had enough noise now so moving to Flipper House today for 450 less, looks to me that the construction will be going on for some time to come yet.
  15. If you get to BanPhe yourself you the have the choice of either getting on a ferry that stops at the pier in the north where the town is then take a pickup(30baht) to whatever resort you fancy (Hat Sai Kaew about 10 min.) or if you go on the Malibu ferry it does not stop at the pier but goes south (approx an extra 20 min.) to the Malibu resort where you are transfered to a raft to land almost on the beach, this entails a paddle in about a foot of water, once landed you can again take a pickup to anywhere or stay at Malibu which is right in front of you. The roads are rough and I personally dont recommend hiring a bike unless you like moto cross and are skilled in the art of "rough riding" . I have stayed at both resorts and prefer Sai Kaew for everything imho it's great. ps if anyone finds a Kuggerand set in a ring in the sand in front of the Sai Kaew statue please hand it in to reception and I will pick it up next week as I lost it last year :crying
  16. Millwall, Samet is great, I love it, Hat Sai kaew villas is ok much better than Malibu further south, I will definately be there in about 2 weeks time either with my tilac or another if the shit hits the fan as I'm having trouble with her at the moment, I will be going with my mate and whatever good company we can find, maybe we wil see you there and have a beer or 20, sit on the balcony late at night/early morning with a bottle of johnny walker/smirnoff etc. and watch the sunrise lol.
  17. On arrival at Bkk I always go upstairs to departures and get in a taxi that has just dropped someone off and say you take me to Pattaya please and can you turn on meter, cost is usually about 1000baht plus tolls (about 150?), on my return from Pattaya I just go to one of the street boothes and order a taxi for 800baht plus tolls, never had a problem doing this and I've always given the driver a tip as the service has always been ok. I did have a problem once when going from Nana to Bkk, time was tight so I made sure to ask the driver to take the slip road near Nana and go on the expressway, guess what , he decided to take me on a mystery tour down Suk then he went left heading south it took me 10 minutes to get him to turn around and go the right way, I made him put his foot down as I was late which he did and got me there in the quickest time ever, cost was about 190 baht I think even with the detour , I put the detour down to a possible language mistake lol and gave him a 50 baht tip for which he was very gratefull. Anyway, Foggiepete it's a breeze nothing easier just keep your wits about you and don't leave all your money in the taxi he! he! have a safe trip.
  18. West East just sold my mate Lhr-Bkk direct with EVA for about the same price , 14/04/05 - 03/05/05, I got Thai for £488.
  19. Hooray! Wales win their first grand slam in 27 years, they beat Ireland 32-20 at the Millennium Stadium, Cardiff in a great match to win the six nations championship and grand slam. Well done to the boy's in red.
  20. Stevoman, I've stayed at the Malibu resort once and Hat Sai Kiew about 3 times with the latter being the best IMHO, I love the place, it's got a great beach with plenty of bars and restaurants that are not too expensive, the food is great with everything available (giant prawns yum! my favourite) , fire dancers on the beach, music and dancing at some bars till late, the odd minimart , massage,fishing/snorkelling/water sports all there, I stay at Hat Sai Kiew Villas for about 900baht inc. breakfast per night, they have those houses on stilts or large rooms in blocks(fan or air) it's great to just sit outside with your latest love and a bottle of whiskey/wine taking in the ozone and chilling out, I will be there next month for sure. You can get there by booking a package with an agent (there's one in soi 8 next to sunshine hotel), minibus (approx 90 min.) to Ban Phe then the ferry to Samet, the ferries either stop on the north at a jetty (30-40 min.) or go down to Malibu where you transfer to a raft for a beach landing then either way its a pick up truck (10-15 min.30baht) to Sai Kiew, all the places that I have stayed at have been guest friendly. There is a charge to land as it's a national park (100bt, 20bt for Thai ?) and if you decide to go your own way I think the ferry is 50bt also last trip I met guy's on the boat who did a walk in and had no trouble finding rooms for less than I paid on a package. package is about 1200bt per head for 2 nts, add approx 900bt for each extra night (barter) + park fees. Go for it if you want to get away from the hustle and bustle of Pty and chill for a few day's, watch out for the guy's selling weed just say mai pen drai .
  21. Hi has anyone ever stayed in this hotel, I cannot find any reviews about it and was wondering if it's any good, eg: clean, rates, pool, rundown/refurbished etc. passed it on many occasions and will try it if ok in April as I need to stay hidden for a day or two from my usual hotel so that I can butterfly.
  22. WestEast have now got EVA on offer at £315 + taxes.
  23. Hi, just in case anyone is looking, I just booked with WestEast for 15/04/05 on Thai for £488 inc., it was the cheapest flight I could find anywhere even beating my regular agent (THG) who normally do me a good deal. They had EVA for less but I had to get the Thai miles as the next trip should be a free one.
  24. Hi Marleyboy, just wondering when you booked your flight as I've been trying to get a cheapie for a couple of weeks, the cheapest available now is over £500 with Thai.
  25. Ranger, I just got back last Sunday with Thai, flown with them 6 times now in economy and haven't got any complaints, the seat pitch is 34ins, foods good and no problems with getting as much booze as I wanted but the IFE can be crap if you get a bad view so just hit the booze and have a party lol. I also like the direct flight as the quicker I get to Los the better. ps join the frequent flyer club at the Thai desk by check-in, it's free and some of the benefits are worth having, eg. extra 10 kgs luggage allowance and being able to check-in at buisness class desk.
