  1. I'm sure he meant 'short term', meaning daily. Long term to mean monthly or fortnightly. Short time, of course, has a differing meaning.
  2. Take a look at something like the Samsung U-CA5; http://www.samsungcamerausa.com/productdet...105&imagenav=03 http://www.steves-digicams.com/2005_review...gimax_uca5.html Don't take the review too literally, as you're not looking for the nth degree and the camera is sold at quite a discount. It's well within your budget and takes decent quality pictures and video with sound. Certainly good enough for your needs and won't be obselete in a year. If you decide against.... Some points to look out for. If the camera you choose cannot shoot video at 640x480 pixels at 30 frames per
  3. I appear to recall flying back, one way from Bkk too. Just my imagination?
  4. I've booked it from the UK, via the Executive Club a couple of times. If you need someone to call them, I can do that for you.
  5. You've made a slight mistake, in assuming that American Express TCs are only denominated in US$. They aren't. So what you need to do is to purchase American Express Sterling TCs. They tend to be more widely accepted than the other types. Secondly, if you have time to apply for a Nationwide Flexaccount, you can use their cost effective cash card. http://nationwide.co.uk/banking/current_account
  6. 200 baht per day now. The risk is that the airline doesn't allow you to fly without a visa.
  7. http://www.touchdown.co.uk/eligibility/eligibility.php Also, each offer will have a link for checking eligibilty. If in doubt, drop them a line; holidays@touchdown.co.uk or call them on 01293 425 000. For bookings within seven days; 01293 425 077
  8. If you've got 'airline standby status', you could possibly use http://www.touchdown.co.uk/ to fly to Thailand for £249 return, plus PSC and security/fuel surcharges with Etihad for that 'secured' seat.
  9. There is no confusion. I think you won't find many places that are cleaned daily when you are paying much reduced monthly rates. The daily cleaning and inclusive utilities pertain to the daily rate. Though, I'm sure you could work something out for extra towels and cleaning by paying extra as and when you need it.
  10. That would be the Eastiny Residence on Soi 10 and Eastiny Place Hotel and Eastiny Inn on Soi 8, I think.
  11. That info is on the website. http://www.shagwellmansions.com/rooms.php Click on 'Tariffs'. Just in case you can't find it; 8k to 12.5k baht monthly. Twice weekly. Electricity not included. Daily rates all inclusive. "Shagwell Mansions is Unique! In the Pattaya's universe and even in the Thailand's one, Shagwell Mansions is unique and we will tell you why: 1. Shagwell is the only Steakhouse in Pattaya and possibly Thailand specializing in Australian rump veal- unfrozen and air transported into Shagwell !! (Coming September) 2. Shagwell also has a permanent display of paintings
  12. Unless they have upgraded their product by the time you fly, I wouldn't bother with Thai. The EVA product is new, with seatback TVs, but take your own food.
  13. Since no one else has replied; It's on the Jomtien bus route, which starts from the South Pattaya Road heading south. Not a terribly long walk. Good location if you like the Marine Hotel scene. Read that the hotel is ok, nothing special. If you got a good price, then that's good.
  14. The last time I booked Gulf Air, a few years ago, for Christmas and New Year. The overbooked, so closed 'check in' early and refused to let anyone else on. Fully booked until the New Year! Everyone was rebooked on flights for the next year, apart from me. After a short converation with my PA, the airline manager carried my luggage to the First Class 'check in' desk of Canada Airlines and put me on a direct flight with Thai Airways. I warned him that he'd rather deal with me than my PA, but he didn't listen. They get it in the end.
  15. Unless you have a kid sitting behind you and he decides to use the touch screen interface to play Nintendo. Use the handset kid
  16. You could use a paid service such as mrrobj does; http://imageevent.com/ at £15 annually. Otherwise, you could upload them to something like; http://www.megaupload.com/ or http://www.yousendit.com/ If you want streaming video there are tools available for this too.
  17. Malev is the Hungarian national airline. http://www.malev.hu/bp/eng/index.asp
  18. Malev is £586.50 from London on the 18th December. It is unclear as to where you will depart from. Clarify it if you want help.
  19. It's been open for about a year; http://www.awgroup.com/gbi/room.htm
  20. Thanks for that. Their map shows it differently, between Second Road and Beach Road and around the Soi Post office. Strange that they aren't sure where their hotel stands. http://www.mercure.com/mercure/fichehotel/...che_hotel.shtml Their booking engine doesn't appear to work either.
  21. Haven't the foggiest idea where Soi 15 would be. The location map seems to show the area around Soi 13. I thought Soi 15 was off Walking Street. Am I wrong?
  22. If anyone wants or needs to fly out on the 17th of December and needs to be back to work for Monday the 9th Jan., Aeroflot has a return flight to Hong Kong for £661. 3 hour stopover outbound, 2 hour inbound. Factor in £200 for connecting flights(including a trip to Samui Island) and you've got yourself a four centre holiday for around £850 flight only. Not bad for those dates. Four centres? Hong Kong, Bangkok, Samui and I know you'll be going to Pattaya. Otherwise Gulf Air still has flights to Bangkok for £797. Not cheap, but not many alternatives available.
